So roughly doing the math, if the film begins shooting October 2019, it will be likely a late 2020 (in the US)/early 2021 (everywhere else) release to make is Oscar eligable. Glenn will have her Oscar this time in two years. They may as well start etching her name onto that damn Oscar now.

In related news, the Gielgud Theatre has just been severely shaken by what witnesses describe as an extremely localised earthquake. Seismologists have traced the epicentre to one of the star dressing-rooms.

Hahaha :-) I mean of course I know could never have been her - but if they had to go with one of Nunn's Normas, give me Patti, Betty or EP any day. (Of course, REALLY they should have someone who is a) a great singer and b) currently in their 40's in the role but hey ho......) |

I'm just glad I saw Company LAST night and not tonight. If I'd had to take shelter until the shaking stopped before I left the theatre, I might have missed my train home.

Just reading that it’s actually happening has me as excited as Norma on her way to meet Mr DeMille. Jake Gyllenhaal would be utterly perfect casting, and it wouldn’t surprise me if it bagged him a 2nd Oscar nomination either.
Please don’t let this be a false start... I wonder if ALW has a new song ready to go? If it’s shooting in October, they’d surely have to have the cast recording done well before then.

Glenn is one of the finest film actors of our generation, she was an incredible Norma when I saw it at The Coliseum and is surely going to grab the Oscar for this! FINALLY! |

Maybe it's just because I've watched Bohemian Rhapsody recently, but I'd quite like to see what Lucy Boynton could do as Betty. Or Lily James.
Obviously no objection to a musical theatre actress being cast either though!

Nothing is guaranteed with film musicals. This could easily be a complete turkey, and Glenn does not have her name on the Oscar. She was a sure winner this year and look what happened.
Having said that Olivia Coleman as Betty, Serena McKellen as Max, and Nick Jonas as Joe has great potential! And cut all the songs apart from Norma's solos and have it all as interior monologues à la Yentl. Sorted!
