I'm sure the Americans will be cringing their way through this when they're used to the Tonys.

I'm sure the Americans will be cringing their way through this when they're used to the Tonys. I watched Lesli Margherita's Broadway.com Show People and she said that when she won her Olivier for Zorro, she was surprised how serious the room is here compared to the Tonys. Which I kinda agree with, because the Tonys are always more fun to watch, as they are obviously designed for television rather than a highlights show, and it has a lot more stars and stuff.

Tomorrow is the big day, what are people expecting the winners to be? And if there are any big shocks, where will they be?

No shocks, it's the Oliviers after all. Boring Potter will win everything. Yawn.

They won't be surprising, but I'm sure they'll grab the chance to do something very stupid

I hope Adam J Bernard wins Supporting Actor in a Musical. It is a powerhouse performance, especially since i'm sure it's his West End debut isn't it? I also hope Groundhog Day picks something up and that the School of Rock kids win best Music or whatever it is.

Can't believe Half a Sixpence aren't performing. I know they're not up for the two "big" musical awards, but still...

I'm ready to be proven wrong but I don't think Harry Potter or Dreamgirls are going to be the massive winners people are expecting. I'm thinking JCS and TGM are the dark horses this evening.

I'm rooting for The Comedy About A Bank Robbery (no surprise there!), Travesties, Clare Foster & Emma Williams in their various categories. Oh and Groundhog Day & Andy Karl. Other than that, I'm not too bothered.

For me the show I hope that gets awards is our ladies of perpetual succour. I really liked that show and will probably see it in the west end. It could easily win for comedy but supporting actress has lots of great competition. Harry Potter will defiantly take a lot of awards. I really hope Groundhog Day wins a lot a well but I feel that as it was quite a while ago it might not. I think actress will be Amber Riley and actor any Karl For play it will be Ian mckellen but actress either Glenda Jackson or Billie piper New play will be Harry Potter and revival the glass menagerie New musical will either be dreamgirls or Groundhog Day and revival Jesus Christ superstar

I'd really like Glass Menagerie and Travesties to receive some love, in these two revivals there were some of the finest performances of the year.

Does anyone much care? The Oliviers are too much of an industry puff fix to be taken seriously. They'll need to be renamed again before long. When I went on the NT tour recently, and the guide proudly told how the NT was founded by Laurence Olivier and then responded to the pregnant silence by asking how we all remembered him, he was met with utter bafflement and absence of name recognition from one of the party. I agree, who will be voting, how many shows did these people see? I also feel that as these awards are for 2017 they should really be held earlier in the year.
