Paul O'Grady to guest judge as well... this is going to be FUN. I wonder if Lily will come out of retirement?

I can't see it working with Ru and to some extent Michelle. UK drag is so different. Michelle has been more absorbed in UK culture recently and with the Regional drags in Jamie but the very thing that makes UK drag electric is the thing that Ru Paul tries to suppress. I laughed when she said she was a mother f***ing marketing genius selling subversive drag to America. I don't think her idea of drag is subversive. I remember her obsession with facial hair with Milk and another Queen, then when Conchitta came out she introduced the beard challenge. I think Ru Paul is good at taking others ideas and packaging as her own.
I love the show but it's not the ground breaking subversive example of queer culture people rave about.

I’m amazed it’s even happening. If you listen to Rupaul’s podcast it’s very clear that he doesn’t like flying, he doesn’t like being in unfamiliar places, he totally doesn’t “get” London or the British. All I can say is that the money must be good.
I was rather hoping ynat they’d export the uk queens to LA and film it in the existing studios. I’ve got a bad feeling that it’s going to look sterile and wrong, however World Of Wonder are producing it so maybe it will be fine. .

I've never got round to listening to the podcast that's interesting about flying and new places. He does seem to live a private life. I'd say there's some gravitas with it being on the Beeb if even BBC3 I wonder will it show on Netflix for those of us outside UK?

Ru flew over to see Michelle in Jamie - so he clearly can manage it.
Also, anyone working in the US - particularly in the entertainment industry - is going to have to fly between the major cities - so I would take that with a pinch of salt.

I don’t think he flew to see her. He flew to London for something, presumably business related, and happened to fit her (and Company) in. There’s an extended discussion about her stint in Jamie in this week’s What’s The Tee. He starts by saying he went to London to see her but later in the conversation admits that he thought she was back in the US seeing her family when his trip to London was being planned. Rupaul makes all the right noises but as with everything else about him it’s all surface. None of it stands up to scrutiny. I don’t think for one second he would fly to London just to see her. I think his interest in her is a fraction of what she thinks about him. Sounds like she struggled with Jamie, and if she gets offered the Broadway gig she’ll only do it for a max of three months because she found the length of her run (80 performances) difficult. Not very promising for someone who claims to have been dreaming of getting into legit MT her entire life (her words). What we know now is that she gets bored easily and only wants to do it for nice easy short runs. She speaks more enthusiastically about having her breast implants removed. The Jamie experience is the first part of the podcast: www.rupaulpodcast.com/episodes/

She moans about having only 9 days to rehearse. Miss Hedge is probably only on stage for all of 20 minutes!!

The Jamie experience is the first part of the podcast: www.rupaulpodcast.com/episodes/I spoke twice to Michelle after performance of Jamie and in no way would I say she struggled with Jamie. She was fantastic. Maybe not with the accent. As an American, I didn't care about that. He voice was perfection and her vogue was perfection. Our chats at the stage door was filled with love and kiki level humor. She said she was having a wonderful time. Talk of coming to NY never came up. I don't think Jamie is going to transfer it's not commercial in NY. The Prom, which is constructed with perfection has made it to Broadway with a slight delay, as it has some content very similar to DEH and the producers may have thought it would be better to wait 18 months and a new season is now struggling. No wise to invest in a similar show with a shade less thrill. While I loved Jamie 3 times, it has a haphazard construction and lacks a character based score. ie most of the songs could be song in cabaret and not essential to the character. When I was younger, I'd buy an album and hear songs that were compelling and I'd wonder what was happening during the show. When I saw the show the song was more satisfying. Jamie's not going anywhere else but the Apollo.

I spoke twice to Michelle after performance of Jamie and in no way would I say she struggled with Jamie. She was fantastic. Maybe not with the accent. As an American, I didn't care about that. Well, as someone from Sheffield, the place where the story is set, I do care about the accent I’m afraid. But that’s fine, it’s my home town, I saw the show open there so I’m probably more invested in that element. You and I can agree to have different priorities in how the role is portrayed and how realistic it needs to be. But it’s not me saying she struggled with the role, I was paraphrasing what she herself says in the podcast. She felt under-rehearsed, was riddled with self doubt, found the accent hard, became ill, struggled with the repetition and had to seek out ways to motivate herself to get through going through the same material every night. And she herself says that she’s been offered the role on Broadway if it transfers. So however likely we think it might be, unless she’s lying, someone is discussing it.

I suspect the producers would look very dimly upon such a blatant hint. As far as I’m aware in the US cast members just drop out of social media without warning or explanation. So maybe potential wind up?

Baga Chipz is just the most perfect British Drag name.

It all seems a bit embarrassing compared to the American queens, no? They seem nowhere near the same level.

I think the show is going to focus more on comedy and vocals while still retaining the essence of Drag Race with the lip syncs etc. Not overly impressed after watching the videos but the queens I named before stood out for me. Seen Baga Chipz a few times and love her.

Lovely to see that Vinegar Strokes (aka Sandra Bollock from ETAJ) has secured a spot. I think British queens’ humour will make for an interesting spin on the format!

I can't believe that Baga made it onto the show...but it might make it interesting. She's about as far removed from your usual Ru Girl as you can get. Maybe Sandra will get onto Season 2....
The only other one i know is Davina, but only from All Together Now.

So she doesn’t fit the mould really. Surprised she turned up for filming. She’s notorious for cancelling shows - cancelled twice in Bath. I think it’s great they’re showcasing the essence of British drag. Would love to see Mary Mac, Son of a Tutu and Sandra turn up on future series.

He’s said he’s consider it. He’s also worked hard over the past year to improve his make up skills... so is he gearing up for it in the future? He’s against the casting misogyny and calling it out on FB.
