Had heard this was the case - glad they've done the responsible thing though and not just tried to plow on!

Oh well I can rule the 1st out now and ask for a refund. Fingers crossed now for the 17th an Linzi's first performance.
I bet the box office staff had already started to move people around, so double work for them now.

Oh fingers crossed for matinee on 17 July too! I’ll be gutted if I can’t get to Linzi’s first show!

I have to admit that I rather selfishly hope that there aren't any further Linzi performances added beyond 4th September, as I booked her last show on purpose. We shall see!

It will surely all depend on Alexandra's availability - potentially Linzi could be doing all 11 extra shows! I can't imagine she won't be doing at least 2 or 3 of them regardless.

Considering Alexandra is going straight into My Best Friend's Wedding on 20th September, I really can't see her doing many (if any!) of the added shows.

Maybe they realised after the huge positive reaction to the Linzi reveal that they didn’t necessarily need Alexandra in order to extend (presuming of course Linzi herself is available). I’d love to see Linzi but my head still isn’t in the right place to do London and all it entails right now. By September though I’d like to think I’d be ready to brave it all.

Have they confirmed the added shows are after the current closing? Could they not just be additional matinees or similar slotted into the current run like some shows do during school holidays?

It still ends on Sun 5th Sept. I think it’s just 11 shows that’ll be slotted in during the run. Probably to accommodate all the tickets sold to social distance ppl. As they’ve prob sold too many tkts for certain days. They will probably shift ppl to other shows

I was going on the 9th, before I booked numerous shows for Linzi Hateley, so i'll gladly get a refund for that performance.

Don’t know why they don’t just extend this to the end of October at least and maybe there could be a case to extend this further over the Xmas period. Is the panto really that essential and seems to have run its course now. I also realise the Micheal McIntyre Xmas special is filmed there, which is an lucrative engagement, I wonder if they need the stage empty to do this?

You do realise that there’s a whole cast of people involved, some of whom may actually have other jobs to go to after the original closing date? Also the theatre will have other events booked in after this closes.

It's still very popular

The stings and ‘Beadle’ type stunts that they do on MM and tricking people that they are somewhere completely different might require certain areas of the theatre to be clear, which a full production being in situ might make tricky. Pretty sure he used to use Drury Lane before the Palladium.

I'm not saying they shouldn't recast if need to, certainly Alexander Burke needs to be recast, as she has a prior engagement, I cannot think of anyone though. lol. The London Palladium only has 2 one night engagements in October and one of these is just a question and answer, so use no set or lighting. Joseph just doesn't perform on the 2 booked evenings. Michael Macintyre shoe did start at Drury Lane, this show can happen at any other theatre, as long as it has a box, although best in a big theatre. Sure Britian's Got Talent is filmed there now in the Spring?

There is a big difference between a one nighter and a fully staged show like Joseph and it's not as simple as Joseph not performing on those two evenings, even the basic shows still require tech and rehearsals.

The first one-nighter at the Palladium after Joseph closes is on 10th September and then there's something pretty much every day until the end of November when I'm assuming the panto will begin its get-in.

Apart from fire safety doors, theatres only really have the main entrance and the stage door to get in or out, and there is never a direct walk to the stage in any theatre, so i cant believe they really think they're sonewhere else.

I think I’d be more suspicious of which ‘clearly MM in a wig’ disguise he was attempting.

Looks like the run is now starting on Tuesday 20 July and Linzi’s first show is the matinee on Wednesday 18 August - these are the latest dates on LW Theatres website at least. Still closing on 5 September with extra matinees added throughout.

I wonder why it's put back even further. My e mail says 12th July. I guess the new date means they won't have to do any socially distanced performances and open straight into full capacity. Means easier for them to administer. But it means that now both my booked performances will be cancelled completely. Looks like 2021 is a repeat of last year with lots of refunds coming to me. Seems I can't give my money away 😀
Edit. Just a thought as I've had a look at the website. Maybe they have just removed all the dates from 12th July so that they can move people around as it doesn't make sense to have them on sale whilst they are dealing with those dates and the 20th is the first full capacity date so they can be on sale as normal. Front page of website still says 12th July.

Still closing on 5 September with extra matinees added throughout. Gosh, that new schedule has them doing 10 shows a week. I know it’s not a particularly long show but that’s still going to be exhausting for the cast members. Plus there are 4 weeks between the opening and Linzi’s first scheduled show - I wonder if Alexandra Burke is going to do all of those performances (I doubt it) or if they’re re-organising which shows Linzi will do in those weeks and just haven’t updated the website yet.

Possibly just taken off sale (like Cinderella was) whilst they sort out all the seating.
