Well that was insane. The full standing ovation started about a minute before the show ended whilst they were still singing. Linzi was crying, Jac was crying, I was crying. She made a lovely emotional speech at the end which was so genuine and you could tell she was having such a good time. There seems a real bond between her, Jac and Jason. Lots of kids there and the ones around me very well behaved. Right towards the end a little boy in front of me said to his mother loudly "whats going to happen to Joseph now?" He seemed quite concerned. So glad I managed to get a last minute ticket as that show will be remembered for a long time.

This afternoon’s performance was amazing and just such a perfect antidote to the months of no proper theatre. Linzi was incredible and it was a privilege to be able to watch that performance. She deserves every bit of love she got from that audience.

So glad I went today. Fantastic performance from Linzi of course, and I’m glad I got to see Zac too, he really does make a great Joseph. Atmosphere was electric and when Linzi started to cry at the end that very nearly did me in too.
There are things I’m not keen on in this production - for god’s sake up the tempo on Jacob and Sons, and there were a couple of others that could do with it too. Don’t like the children as the brothers, baker etc, especially the one who starts off the Benjamin Calypso - obviously a really talented kid and it’s not her fault, but it felt so weird with a kid’s voice there. I can see what they’re going for with it, it’s just not my cup of tea. Cut at least 75% of the leftover Sheridan comedy. And the main thing? Put the key back, I’m begging here! Overall though, I’d rather have all of the above than see the tired old production limp about on tour.
None of the niggling things could detract from Linzi though. She was evidently loving it, and i loved that at the end she and Jason were the last to leave the stage. Wouldn’t have missed today for anything.

Just watched a video online of Linzi's last curtain call/ megamix and that looked so emotional. The amount of joy on that stage was incredible.

I recorded the megamix and her speech but can't post it as I was banned for life by YouTube years ago for posting a Liza Minnelli video. So can only view videos now. But it was joyeous

I was at Linzi's last performance as well and what an incredibly emotional afternoon it was. Loved it all so much, the enthusiastic audience, Linzi's reaction, the support from Jac and Jason... very glad I could make this.
Though apparently I was the unlucky one who had an unruly kid beside her... or rather, I blame the parents. The girl was far too young I think to sit still for a longer time (4 or 5 at most) and they let her wear these stupid shoes that light up and flash in the darkness, which they did from time to time during the show.

That sounds more like the parents wanted to see the show and dragged the kid along. 4/5 is far too young I would say for Joseph.

4 or 5 is too young for any show unless it's a children's show. If parents want to introduce kids to theatres, there are more suitable options like the Polka Theatre, the Little Angel and the Unicorn Theatre.

See, my just turned 5 yr old sat perfectly in the centre of the stalls last weekend and was in awe of the whole show. Let’s not tar every kid with the same brush…

I saw both Alexandra and Rochelle's Narrators about ten days ago now. I was really impressed with AB, I am a fan and as another poster said previously, the role played to her strengths. Her voice is fabulous and it's a wonderful score and it felt like a privilege to hear her sing it. So many great moments but "Pharaoh Story" is a highlight obviously, but I liked hearing her take on something different like "Potiphar" and nail it. I felt her diction was better than it had been in some other shows, which is kind of a must for Joseph as she's a storyteller. For the most part I thought she performed the comedy well, particularly as Jacob, the jailer and Potiphar's wife. The part I felt didn't work was the French lady (?) at the end of Canaan Days. I had forgotten what a good dancer she is and her choreography was really excellent throughout. I do find her to be a charismatic and energetic performer and the show allowed her to demonstrate that.
I had never seen Joseph performed professionally before but I loved it. The score, the colour, the choreography, the humour- it makes for a very enjoyable evening out. I found the children very funny and thought it worked well. Jac Yarrow obviously has a bright future ahead of him. I am ambivalent about Jason D but he clearly has a fanbase and good for him. Rochelle was also a great Narrator and it was interesting to spot some differences between her and AB's performance. I didn't get to see Linzi unfortunately but it seems like she smashed it by all accounts.
Seems like it was an emotional evening yesterday- AB said a few words on behalf of the company. Shouldn't be long until the tour is announced?

Wow what a weekend. At Linzi’s last show Sat. Very emotional and brilliant. Loved her being Back having grown up with the 91 production being a Jason fan all these years. Her Speech at the end had us all in tears: She has loved being Back. At both shows yday. Last one so emotional. Jac got a standing ovation for Close Every Door. He was totally overwhelmed and crying .During the Curtain call AB and Jac very emotional and AB made a speech. All crying inc me. Have loved having this Back again. They were filming Sat afternoon which could be promo for the tour maybe. May go to the tour, depends who’s cast..

This topic is basically through, but just have to say, that I saw the show 2 weeks ago against my better knowledge, just booked because of Linzi and it was the worst performance of my week in London, a travesty if you know the old production, even Linzi couldn't save it. 3/10, only because you can't kill that score...however hard you try.

So I had never seen Joseph performed professionally before but am a big musical fan and saw two other shows when I visited London a few weeks back. I found it to be the most enjoyable by a wide margin. Can you explain what about it was a travesty? I am not being facetious, I am genuinely curious.

It is a travesty compared to the previous Palladium version directed by Stephen Pimlott. I never saw the remounted Lee Mead incarnation so don’t know what key the part was sung in, but it is a massive part of the shows’ excitement and power. Compared to Kenwrights touring abomination it is a masterpiece. It was crafted to fit Sheridan Smith so didn’t skim quite the vocal highs that Linzi’s narrator had. Also using children to play parts normally cast with an adult was seen as a bizarre move, and suspected to be a cost cutting exercise.

Newcastle now advertising this with Jac & Jason starring: www.theatreroyal.co.uk/whats-on/joseph/The Mayflower are also teasing an ‘exciting announcement’ next week, so I’m sure it’s probably confirming this

I’m surprised it hasn’t been officially announced yet. I reckon we will get an official announcement with the full schedule next week.
