DVO as the Narrator.... Sorted. The Narrator is actually a very challenging sing; the musical is considered light-weight, but the Narrator role is vocally demanding if sung as written for a woman (it was originally written for a man and was comparatively easy at the time). The Narrator must have a strong belt (and mix) to add excitement to the score in my opinion. DVO would in no way be able to sing this score unless much of it is transposed (considerably) down.

DVO was said with tongue in cheek. Of course she couldn't sing it but she is a name. Andrew likes Alexandra Burke or Beverely. Maybe they could do it? Or Nicole Scherzinger?

I actually wouldn’t mind Nicole Scherzinger. She seems to be someone who divides opinions but I really like her & there’s no denying she has an incredible voice.

Lots of JOSEPH questions in the annual NT Quiz tonight at the Olivier and almost none of the panellists seemed to know anything about it whatsoever. Rather dumb panel, I have to say, but Carey Mulligan was a very game scorekeeper.

Not going to lie, more than a little bit disappointed in Ashley Zhangazha for not realising that Bonnie Langford is the Strallens' aunt and not their mum.

I wouldn't say that she has an "incredible" voice. It's not a bad voice by any stretch but it's also no better or worse than many of the ten-a-penny sub-Whitney trillers who think "why give you one note when you can have ten?". She opens a yoghurt pot beautifully though. I'll give her that.

Not Alexandra Burke, please. Saw her in Sister Act and couldn't understand a word she was mumbling. Not great if you're the one telling the whole story!

Ryan - I hear they wanted you to be play Potiphar's wife but I know at this point in your career you only create roles...I feel the same. I am offer only (I refuse to audition) and don't replace either ;-)

I'm happy to consider all parts. I'm like Maggie Smith in that way. She once told me over a couple of gins, "RyRy", she said (she always calls me RyRy when she's drunk), "f*ck 'em, it don't matter how f*ckin' small the part is, I'll always steal the whole f*cking thing from under their fat f*cking noses". We're like peas in a pod Maggie and I. Except for the wonky eye. And the bad language.

I saw Ms. Scherzinger in 'Rent' at the Hollywood Bowl a few years ago. If the place had a roof, she and Tracie Thoms would have blown it off - their 'Take Me Or Leave Me' was by far the evening's biggest highlight. Granted, you could take that as faint praise given that the evening also included the train wreck that was Vanessa Hudgens's assault on 'Out Tonight', but I don't mean it as such. They were thrilling, and they were worth the cost of the ticket on their own. Not a fan of the sub-Whitney riffing either, but I do think Ms. Scherzinger has a spectacular voice.

What about Stewart Clarke? I saw him in the Rink and I believe he’s in Fiddler at the moment. I see Jospeh more with dark features than fair.

I think they’ll aim to get a bigger name, esp as it’s a limited run

They could get a pop-star name for the Narrator and properly cast Joseph. Amelia Lily could be good (albeit not a huge pop star name). They’ll prob stunt cast the whole thing though let’s be honest.

Does Joseph really need star casting? The show is very popular, easily marketable at children/families, and in a prestigious venue. Obviously I'm no producer but I'd put odds on this selling very well no matter who's cast.

Why pay top wack to see it with no celebs in town when you could see if with whatsherface off the telly in your local every 10 minutes for the last 15 years?

I think she'd be a great fit. IMO, she has the vocal chops, so long as she's persuaded to keep to the tune, and is a big enough name to help with the promotion and ensure punters feel they've seen a star they can tell their friends about.

Have Nicole and Andrew made friends after the Cats Broadway debarcle, because otherwise I can’t see her doing this.

Sad news that richard swerrun had died. He was Joseph on tour and the West End for so many years. That is indeed sad. I saw him in the role a number of times, and he is Joseph on my CD. I bought a copy of his own CD for Father's Day. It arrived through the post with a lovely handwritten note.

Sad news about Richard, he must not have been any great age probably only in his 50's.
