Yes Gaga has Fibromyalgia which has impacted her last 2 tours. I don’t think she’s touring next year from things I’ve heard (could change) and 8 shows a week could be hard on her. But equally if she really really wanted to do something I could see her cut the amount of shows a week she would do and only do a very short run of something. Thanks! Apologies - I got the condition wrong. Agree in sentiment re short run or fixed number of shows (though tough gig for the alternate!). (Yeah, not gonna happen sadly!)

According to shouty man, it’s Auliʻi Cravalho. She did the west end concert in Drury Lane last year which wasn’t that well received

She was alright but the concert itself was iffy
I think she'd be quite good in a new version that she herself can own, the concert was way too underdeveloped set or direction wise to say absolutely anything

Bit disappointing if so… hardly a huge MT star making their return 😟

It certainly would line up for her right now as she finishes Cabaret on 29 March 2024... a month or so of rehearsal and this would run from around June to September
When did Gaga negotiations fall through? Plenty of time 'til then but if Jamie wants star quality, to go for Auliʻi Cravalho who did it before at a dodgy concert that got mixed reception would be an odd move and not an MT return, no shade towards her of course but it's the Palladium... it's a big place that needs a big star.

Don't want to sound negative but if they want to sell out the Palladium they need someone who Jo public has heard of or they won't come. Jamie Lloyd will mean nothing to them and neither will she (I've never heard of her either). Everyone knows Evita and ALW but that won't sell the show alone.

Yes... saw a billboard for The Tempest today and it's definitely not Jamie Lloyd who was the top billing on that advertisement, nor on it at all lol

Her voice was ok and I guess her flubs could be put down to nerves and lack of rehearsal (though everyone else was fine!). But I just didn’t buy into her acting. And I’m quite forgiving on acting if a voice wows me so it must have been really suboptimal. She just really didn’t embody Evita!

I wonder if they would try for Madonna, she can sing, shame about the acting though.
Saying that with Lady Gaga, I hate all that self publicity with her pretend and pretentious name, but can that woman sing.

Well she certainly knows the material and the Palladium pretty well, but much as I’d give my eye teeth for this, she’s too old to play a 30 something now isn’t she? Although having seen her Celebration tour last year she doesn’t look her age…

Or maybe as Peron's Mistress, so she could keep 'her' song?

They'd also have to bring everything down a few keys like it was in the film lol
No way, zero chance.

I actually love the film adaptation and “You Must Love Me”…..but that was 28 years ago. Madonna cannot play Evita on stage now. It would be beyond ridiculous, she is 66 years old. Eva Perón died at 33.
Return to musical theatre……I’m calling Hannah Waddingham perhaps?? Also a good shade older than 33. But somehow may be more acceptable given her genuine leading lady status, and now brings a much bigger crowd from outside the theatre geek community due to her international TV success?
