Booked for Newcastle, quite pleased with the ticket price as was expecting higher. Really enjoyed watching him on the Graham Norton show last night so this will be great 😊

Should be a very interesting and amusing talks if Sir Ian doesn't have some good stories then nobody would. I wonder if it will just be him on the stage or he will have an "interviewer" to talk to him and then I assume oversee a Q and A as most "Evening's with" seem to. As a director is credited (Sean Mathias of course) I am sure it will be a one-man show. Doesn't preclude a Q&A though. |

The many Theatres concept looked good on paper, in reality it appears that most tickets have been scooped up by friends and supporters of the individual Theatres.
Having now looked into it further it looks like touring version of the fund raiser at the Park last year. A solo look back over his career, anecdotes aplenty and some key scenes from his long and distinguished career. One front row person may get the opportunity to hold Gandalf’s sword (if I remember rightly the lucky person was allowed a selfie) there is also an opportunity for a number of people to take the stage to perform the closing scene. (This may not be as simple to co-ordinate in some of the larger venues)
It was a really enjoyable evening and looking forward to going again, hope all that wanted a ticket have managed to do so as you will love spending a relaxed evening in Ian’s company.

Just got tickets for the New Theatre in Cardiff!
Relatively smooth booking process although clicking book at 12pm I still ended up 183 in the queue... looking forward to seeing the show after missing out on King Lear tickets.

After a total 'mare with the New Theatre (not getting in, but it kept rejecting my perfectly valid card) I am also going! (on the Thursday)

It will be interested to see how scripted it is, if there are scenes from some of his most famous roles then they will need to be cued etc. but I could imagine him liking a fairly free reign and other good stories could spring to mind at different venues.
It is a big undertaking for a man of his years but no doubt won't be as strenuous as playing Lear.

He is doing 5 nights at the Theatre Royal Brighton (Mon- Fri 15th- 19th July 2019) and still tickets available especially earlier in the week. So possible to train it from London for the evening - subject to the trains running(!) should London dates be full.

Kind of hard to argue with that, it's not like regional theatre supporters are getting Ian McKellen every week.. I'd have been thrilled if he'd come to our local but he isn't so it was the NT queue for us this morning. |

Got a ticket for the national. I got on the phone and kept him talking for 10 mins until it went on sale. I got a 15 pound tic 🙂

Managed to grab tickets in the Lyttelton for the 28th! I was 58 in the queue and there were about 10 tickets left when I got through.
It's saying sold out now.

I am absolutely kicking myself over this. Last Friday when tickets went on sale I checked Hampstead Theatre and they had one under 30's £10 ticket left which would've been perfect. Then I thought, 'but why not go to your regional theatre as it will be nice to see it in your hometown'. Tickets for that were 'on sale soon' but the box office have kindly let me know that they are only on sale to supporters/friends/members and there probably won't be any left for general sale.
Cue me trying to get general sale for The Bridge, no luck, and this morning for either of the National dates. The Lyttelton sold out when I was ~90 in the queue and then I got through to the date for the Olivier to be placed 15 in the queue on the page with the seating plan, only to watch all the few remaining seats to disappear before my eyes.
Do I now sign up as a member for my regional theatre even though there is nothing else on there I want to see in the next year or so, to be given the chance at getting a ticket... hmmm. Despite knowing their website under demand doesn't even have a queue system and spits out various error messages at you for hours on end. Decisions, decisions.

Thank you, I had been trying to avoid that one as it would be a miracle to get to on that day but it might have to come to that or becoming a member. Somewhat naively I had no idea it would be such a sell out! If you're under 25 you can go in for the Donmar ballot.
