Great news on an otherwise bleak few days. I adored this show, saw it 3 times and am thrilled we are getting a recording. I loved the preview and it is great to have a french Amélie. She sounds even more French than I remember! I wonder if there will be a physical release.

I'm sure I read previously they were planning to have a physical release but the digital version would be out first. Fingers crossed!

This was such a lovely show, i went in with rather small expectations and came out with it being one of the highlights of last year. There's something special about it. One of the biggest highlights was the music and the sound of the cast singing it, so very happy to have this recording coming.

This was all set to announce a transfer to the Criterion before the pandemic ruined all our lives. Interesting...It certainly worked up a following during its time at the other palace with tickets for the last weeks sold out pretty much....May I ask where you heard this...Maybe it could still happen...

Cast recording is out today! Has anyone listened yet?
I think it sounds gorgeous, they’ve captured the magic of the show very well

I didn't get a chance to see this production, but I'd always liked elements of the Broadway cast recording and thought that it was a shame it didn't do better.
This recording is transformative, though. I don't know what other international productions of the show have done with the score and book (there seems to be some new material here, alongside some shuffling of songs), but the revamped orchestration and faster tempi in particular makes the whole thing so much brighter and livelier. While it might not be fair to say, it's also revelatory having such a great actress playing Amelie; Stay's always been a great song, but Audrey Brisson's performance of it is simply superb, like she's actually speaking rather than singing if that makes sense. Even things I wasn't originally sure about are clearly far better (the massively lowered key for Thin Air, for instance).
Beautiful recording. Worth listening to for Brisson alone, but hopefully gives the show a great life in English-speaking amateur/smaller pro markets.

Excited to listen to this. I will never forget feeling a little unmotivated to go, walking into a pretty much empty Haymarket Theatre in Leicester with basically only the cast of The Color Purple, which was playing down the road at Curve, for company, and wondering if this whole thing was going to be a damp squib. Well it turned out to be one of the highlights of the year and just one of the most intimate and magical shows I've watched. Certainly the music and the talented cast performing it, both vocally and of course, as musicians, were a massive part of that and it was gorgeous. I feel like as time has gone on I've only appreciated it more.
You know, i'm hoping that this does get a nod at the Oliviers.

denada ta for the heads up. I've downloaded it for when I'm queuing up at the post office this lunch time. Hopefully it should soak up the misery!

I've been listening to it over the last few days and it's brilliant. Though I have to say I prefer Danny Macs voice compared to the actor on the recording.
This is better than the Broadway recording for sure. It has much more personality and the accents with the folk orchestrations make it beautiful to listen to.
It just makes you feel warm and happy.

I just noticed they lowered the key of Times are Hard for a dreamers on the recording, at least compared to a preview video on the Whatsonstage YouTube channel. Anyone noticed any other key changes? Was this a change while the show was running or just for the recording?

Was this a change while the show was running or just for the recording? I'm pretty sure it was sung it in the higher key when I saw the tour in Birmingham. However in this preview for The Other Palace run, it is lowered; So it must've been in between the tour and London they lowered it - which I can't say surprises me as the song reaches some pretty high notes! But in both versions, Audrey sings it beautifully. :-)

I think we have some good news to celebrate soon 🤞 Also updated their Twitter description to "Where do we go from here?".
I personally think the previously mooted West End transfer to the Criterion is back on the cards x

I think this venue would really suit it - in my opinion New Wimbledon swamped it.

Maybe Baz has an announcement tonight? From what I've seen of the Criterion, it looks like an ideal theatre for this show.
