I'm in London to see Murder Ballad tomorrow night so booked to see this in Camden Odeon while we're there as won't get back to Cardiff in time. It's going to be a Stagey weekend! Haha!

Going to see this in Belfast with some friends later today. Almost a year since I last seen the show in London so I'm very excited to see it again.

Really looking forwarded to seeing this tonight as I loved it when I saw it and wished I could have seen it again. I'm really glad they have started showing more things at the cinema as it's making things accessible to people who don't live near London. Although with our local cinema and previous experiences there I'm already expecting a few things for the bad behaviour thread! Here's hoping I'm proved wrong!

Just back from seeing the afternoon showing. Brilliantly filmed, you can easily forget you're watching a stage production. The Embassy scene is absolutely off the chart with the close-ups and camera shots from different perspectives. Fantastic acting and performances all round. I was way more engaged than when I saw it at the Prince Edward despite being fairly close to the stage then.
Too long though. Sorry Miss Saigon officianados but seriously, that first act could lose 15 minutes very easily. Act 2, lose 10, including Ellen's solo. No-one gives a toss about her, she's spoiling everything for everyone and I don't wanna hear it! And for that reason we didn't stay for the gala. Sitting in a cinema for 3 hours is a no-no for me.

Were there trailers etc first or did it just start? I'm ready for bed already so think it unlikely I'll make 10pm! I can doze I suppose...

Saw the afternoon showing in Camden Odeon and it was brilliantly done. (No adverts or trailers in our showing, straight into the film).
The mixing of the camera angles and overall production really help tell the story - Embassy Scene/Kim's Nightmare was the standout visual moment. The actors must have all been on top form the night they filmed it as there wasn't a note out of place and tears galore in the acting!
I got slightly miffed at the occasional blurriness of one of the camera angles, there were odd blips where actors went out of focus - and I don't think they were being arty!
We had an actual interval after Act 1 for 5 minutes and then 15 minutes before the Gala. It was far too long and I only stayed for the Gala not wanting to miss anything - and I paid £18 a ticket!
Overall run time nearly 3 hours 15! The show itself is definitely worth seeing but unless you're a die-hard fan I wouldn't bother with the Gala!

Saw the show this afternoon and loved it. Saw it twice in London, and so was afraid I'd be comparing them throughout, but after the first 10 or so minutes (where I'll admit I was concerned I wouldn't enjoy the choppy editing and closeups) I was totally absorbed. Really struck me how fantastic Jon Jon Briones is. He is giving it 200% in every scene, and was a joy to watch. Delightfully menacing. Also really loved Kwang-Ho Hong as Thuy. He was fantastic during You Will Not Touch Him, probably my favourite bit of the whole thing. The entire cast is fantastic though. Broadway will love Eva I suspect. Kim's Nightmare is usually my favourite, and while I adored it in the filmed version, it didn't compare to the wow moment when you see the helicopter in the theatre. Still a stand out moment though, and I wept throughout of course! Overall, a really enjoyable afternoon out. Really had the WOW factor. And I only paid £11.50 for a student ticket at my local Odeon. Only thing I noticed was that the sound was a little bit quiet, although that's probably to do with my local cinema more than anything.

The actors must have all been on top form the night they filmed it as there wasn't a note out of place and tears galore in the acting! It must have been filmed over more than one performance. If only to get some of the camera angles which would have been impossible to do without disrupting the audience's view. Also there were a couple of continuity bloopers. For example when she lights the incense sticks and puts them back on the shrine theyre together. When we see them later they're artistically positioned in a cross shape.

Saw it this afternoon too - no trailers at Vue, sound also a little quiet, but liked the split of 'stage sound' from the front and 'audience applause' from behind. Think they've done a fantastic job with the editing and loved seeing the gala again, from rather closer than the gods!

The sound at my cinema was quiet as well. I thought it was just me being picky... X

Just waiting for the gala bit to start...was a little quiet at first but picked up in the 'songs'. Forget every time how devastating it is as soon as the inevitable slide to the end starts after 'American Dream'. Ellen still wholly miscast but an otherwise brilliant endeavour.

Sound was a little quiet at my showing too. Still an amazing production though- once i had got used to the fades/ split screens I loved it. Spotted a few continuity bloopers too. In "Sun and Moon" Chris had several spots on his neck which disappered later on, and some microphones swapped sides. I loved the little snippets of film and photos which put it all in context. The Fall of Saigon looked fantastic

Just got home from this and absolutely loved it. Brought it all back. The way it was shot was fantastic and noticed little things I never noticed at the theatre. I never got to Eva on stage, only Tanya, so it was great to finally see her as Kim. Jon Jon Briones is an absolute star - he really shone through on screen.
Really well done and makes me wish they would do more musicals like this for the pictures.
On the other hand - don't get me started on the audience! Maybe I'm too picky and expect too much. We had people still traipsing in with popcorn and nachos during Why God Why (although I think people probably thought the 6:30 start time included the usual 15 minutes of trailers which didn't happen), crisp rustlers, mobile phones and a seat kicker behind me got a good glaring at. The woman next to me also got a good stare at when she started singing along. There was a lot of sniggering during the Heat Is On and comments along the lines of 'what's he doing to her?' in regards to the company in the background. Give me strength!

Picked up so much more detail...Thuy clearly threatening Tams life made Kims dilemma obvious...Eva absolutely stunning...ace!

A brilliant capture of a brilliant production....yes the first ten minutes was annoyingly edited way too quickly, and there were too few wide shots of the stage to orientate ourselves, and some of the scene changes were edited, but this was a superb piece of film -making. please let this be the film version, glorifying in the theatricality that is so intrinsically a part of it. We don't want a fillm shot on location with real helicopters, thank you. This was superb. No sound issues at the Vue in Altrincham.

Just got home from it. Loved it!!! I was sat next to a really annoying couple who came in during Why God Why and proceeded to talk, eat hot dogs and popcorn and make sarcastic comments all the way through.
I found it interesting that they didn't show The Engineer's reaction right at the end - they focused on Kim and Chris. Jon Jon's anguished cry and falling to his knees was not visible at all on screen.
