I saw this last night but wanted to gather my thoughts before I said anything, I found this to be a bit bland! The actors/band was a bit bizarre and at times quite off putting with the switch from actor to band member and took away from the believability of the parts they were playing however small I mean who walks around with a fiddle in their hands or a guitar strapped to their back?
I will say I was in the circle and had that Row B seat spoken about earlier in the thread and didn’t notice any sound issues apart from quite a few missed mic cues which would or wouldn’t have made a difference depending on where you were sat.
Have to say no songs are in my head nearly 24 hours after which is never a good sign from someone who works with music!
Cast were very good and doing their best with what they had to work with, lighting was pretty standard and the set was more static than a Sunday night concert!
It was very like Cone From Away (which I see has been mentioned) but as I described it last night CFA light!
Overall thoughts were it was ok glad I have seen it but won’t be going back in a hurry (and if I do I need more alcohol before to get me through such bonkers story) I feel that there is better iut there using this kind of format only 2 Stars from me I’m afraid! Onto tonight’s offering at The Noel Coward!

This is fantastic news - thank you! 🙏 for the inclusion of some of the underscore and dialogue... Oh it would be the icing on the cake to have bonus tracks of the songs lost along the way 🤞🤞

I can’t remember a single song, and I’ve seen it twice.

I can’t remember a single song, and I’ve seen it twice. Fair play, we can't all like the same stuff! Genuine question... why did you go again if you didn't like it the first time?

I saw this at yesterday’s matinee after reading such good reviews on here - but it wasn’t for me, I’m afraid. I agree that the entire cast works hard and they are very talented. Despite this, I was strangely unmoved by it all and I felt the narration-style ending disappointing. I’m glad I’ve seen it, but unlike many on here, I won’t be a return visitor.

This is great news but also a massive shame we didn't get a cast recording with Jamie Parker and Molly Osborne instead.

I agree with you. A pleasant enough evening but not emotionally engaging. The growing younger element only works from old man to younger man. Lead character was much the same age visually for much of the show and most intriguing aspect of show was hurriedlly narrated at the end.I found the score a bit relentless and samey.

Is there any talk of this extending? It is selling really well

Not a lot of advance bookings, mostly on the day with cheaper tickets on the door as I think I mentioned in another thread but it should extend if it keeps it going
When I'm free one day to see this I'm just going to get tickets off the TodayTix deals section where it always seems to be or just rock up to the box office

Fab news! Thank you! How do you know? Looking forward to an announcement on socials! In this case a friend works for the company producing it. But mostly, like many of us I'm sure, I've worked in the west End long enough to hear the news fast and have the savvy to pick out the rubbish from the legit. I actually find it funny as often on here someone will post some news and it'll be jumped on as 'prove it' etc. Think it would be nice for everyone to take each other at face value and trust if it's being posted then it's legit. Perhaps I'm being very naive though and there's a lot of fake news too. I don't know. I've often seen someone post something on here that's completely true only to be called out as rumour when I know for a fact it's spot on. Anyway, I'm ranting and properly keyboard warrior vibe on here now. Anyway, this one, for sure, is happening!

Unfortunately there are some people on here who consistently share duff info on the premise of being in the know, so it's understandable if people sometimes question things.

Good news though - it means I can stop pressing repeat on the YouTube videos they’ve shared!

Thing is though, people are usually reluctant to say what their source of information is in case it reveals their identity and that’s completely understandable. It does mean though that until we have something in the way of a formal announcement things will get tagged as “rumour” just in case it ends up not happening. I think the community is quite good at accepting people’s info at face value but if anyone experience otherwise I hope that would be brought to the mod’s attention.

Yeah the cast recording was bound to happen, as this is doing really well critically based on the music. I hope it comes out soon so it gives me a reason to pack it in and book my tickets Also yeah agree with ceebee it definitely all is decided when it comes out... I stopped talking to a "source" I knew because they were very, VERY wrong about Stereophonic at the Oliviers and I made myself look a fool. Never again! I think the people here are reliable enough sources for me now

I really liked it, but I didn't love it. Everything was great: set, performances, score, book. It just didn't fully click for some reason. Great performance from Clare Foster, jaw-dropping ensemble.

Back as well and sad to say I wasn't as impressed as I had hoped to be after all the positive feedback here.
They really should have invested in a few wigs and accessories for the "aging" process - both for Benjamin aging backwards (start with a white wig before using his real dark hair for example) and the others aging forward, especially his wife. Clothes also hardly reflected the changing of time/fashion.
But mostly I found the story rather dull... a lot of "and then this happened and then that happened" without any true stakes.
The music was lovely and the cast certainly talented, but I'm glad I only spent 20 quid on it!

I really enjoyed this - definitely my favourite musical to open this season. It reminded me of Once. Yes, there is a lot of narration but the performances were great and the music was lovely. I can't wait for the soundtrack to be released. Congratulations to all involved.
