Does anyone know if the LE are doing a rep season again next year? We are now well into October and thought there would have been some sort of announcement by now.

I’ve spoken to the Liverpool playhouse box office tonight. They didn’t have any info about a 2019 rep season as of yet. They advised keeping an eye on the website for any info.

Thanks, but going on last year it was announced by now so dont know if its a bad sign? Mind you lots of other regional theatres are announcing 2019 productions this month so finger crossed.

I really do hope that we get some positive news in the next few weeks. This years rep was great and one I really enjoyed (went to see a clockwork orange and the big I am).

Confirmed that there will be no rep season in 2019 which is a real shame.
In better news, however, the Everyman will be reviving Sweeney Todd, running from 12th April to 18th May.

Yes shame about the Rep season. Good news about Sweeney Todd but crikey there are other Sondheim musicals!

It’s a shame there is no Rep season next year, though the announcement today of Sweeney Todd is something to look forward to, I’ll probably end up booking for most of the stuff in the coming season when public booking opens.

crikey there are other Sondheim musicals! Yes, but I think this will bring in a young/teenage audience, being gory and a well-known film, like this year's A Clockwork Orange.

Definitely agree with you on this. When I saw A clock work orange, there was definitely a high percentage of college and Uni students in the audience I was sat with. Hopefully this will be repeated with ST.

It’s a shame they have had to shelve the rep idea. Hopefully they can get the rep company going again in the future if finances permit. I thought the productions that I watched this year really were excellent and fantastic value for money.

Yes, and the rotating system meant you could catch up on things you'd missed, and I think it helps with the whole vibe of a theatre. It's a shame they can't keep it up - the 70s rep company (before my time) produced some amazing stars.
