According to various news sources, Andrew Lloyd Webber is in the process of writing a contemporary retelling of Cinderella with Tom McRae who did the book and lyrics for Everybody's Talking About Jamie and Emerald Fennell. While Cinderella has been done to death as a musical subject with Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella and Stiles and Drewe's Soho Cinders, I'm curious to see how Lloyd Webber is approaching it and we've not had a fantasy musical from him since probably Starlight Express. www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/andrew-lloyd-webber-plans-new-cinderella-musical-project-1142775?utm_source=twitter

I am not sure that 2 musical versions of Cinderella over the past 60 years is really doing the story to death... It is a classic fairytale that can stand new versions and still attract an audience.
ALW can write some glorious romantic music - so there is potential here. It will come down to the music for me - given that we know the story arc already!
