I am enjoying this overall but found tonight's episode fairly slow (until the last ten minutes) Richard Madden is still lovely to watch which helps.

Definitely getting worse by the episode. Not even hiding plot holes now Again When you compare this to US dramas It just looks pathetic Plot holes can be covered By good acting See Ozark on Netflix You can’t get a more farfetched plot But it works I don’t know why British TV is so sh*t And cheap budget And they hire rubbish writers And pay them pittance Watched episode 1 of Ozark. That is dire Parsley. Does it get better? I had the Bodyguard starting at a 7, now after three episodes a 6. Does Ozark get better than a 3? Very under whelmed here

I completely lost the thread of the plot once those buns were unleashed. Made me not begrudge the licence fee one little bit. Meanwhile over on Lesbian Twitter (its a thing) the girls are losing it for Keeley’s um action... As for plot holes, academics rocking up in their robes to a conference is a good one...hungover in last night’s clothes more like it...

I don’t know why British TV is so sh*t There are some great programmes on British TV, and some terrible ones from the US. We get the cream. I'm baffled by the love for Line of Duty and Bodyguard. I think they are both like creaky B-movies in terms of plot, shallow characters and wooden acting, but people rave about them. I haven't seen Ozark but watched the first episode of Bodyguard right after watching The Deuce, and The Deuce blows it - and most other shows - out of the water.

Line of Duty has some of the best written interrogation scenes I have ever seen on screen (large or small)
The tension that Mercurio, the actors and directors created was intense. One of them was so full on that I had to pause it a couple of times to catch my breath.
Yes, some of the plotting is beyond credible. But the character work and writing is top notch for me.

Totally agree. Walked past the film trucks for series 5 on Monday.

I've tried repeatedly because of the buzz around it, but can't get into it. I watched all of the last series but wasn't engaged by the characters and found the plotline comically bad. I think with Bodyguard it must help if you find either of the leads sexy, and I don't. In GoT the Red Wedding couldn't come fast enough for the tedious Robb.

Line of duty works because of the links between the series. Watching one in isolation isn't the best way to engage with it.

Line of duty works because of the links between the series. Watching one in isolation isn't the best way to engage with it. I started watching Line of Duty series 2 perhaps, was Keely Hawes in series 2? I watched cos of all the hype but found it hard going somewhat, I watched as I thought I should rather than I really wanted to, by the following series I was much more drawn in because of the links and when it all popped up on iplayer and I watched the first series I realised how much more I would have initially enjoyed series 2 if i'd seen series 1. So yeah I think oxfordsimon has a point. I'm finding the bodyguard somewhat ridiculous but i'm still watching, it's one of those suspend disbelief a bit and then there's some cracking action and plot development that keeps surprising me.

I loved LOD series 1 but got really bored in series 2 and gave up on it.

Back to Bodyguard, guys. I know you are trying to distract me. Can I ask who is doing his laundry? How many clean shirts does he have in his bag in the hotel?

When he took his jacket off back in the hotel room it was pristine despite him supposedly running about in it all day long. Not a wrinkle! I’ve got a new telly and I’m noticing all this detail now. He had huge amount of make up on in some of the scenes. Looked like that panstick my mum used to put on. Medium beige.

BBC has just announced that the final episode will have a 75min run time. Plenty of time for bombs, bums and bullets to keep us entertained on that Sunday night.

I feel like the show would be at least 500% better if Robb Stark and Lindsay Denton weren't f***ing. I loved Line of Duty and I know Jed has a great series in him, it's just a little bit lost at the moment.

{Spoiler - click to view} But is she really dead?
We haven't seen the body.
It might be a plan to flush out the conspirators.
The number two in the Home Office turned out to be far shadier than his jumpers suggested..

Yes I suspect so oxfordsimon. Why else would Richard Madden, 10 years Keeley's junior and not anything like as famous have top billing?

It is delightfully impossible to predict!

Apparently it’s all over the press this morning and I just heard what happened on the radio so I guess the spoiler tags aren’t needed. I think we’ll just have to take the approach of ‘don’t read the thread until you’ve seen the episode’ for this sort of thing.

I think with the TV threads it’s fair game that once it’s aired spoilers are fair game? A bit of common sense of “don’t read until you’ve watched” and we should all be able to play nicely yes?
Anyway, what the damn hell. Don’t you take my Dame Keeley away from me like that. (Well played though on the “have we just lost both leads” few minutes)
