I liked her in Smash not as much as Hilty, obviously!
Anyway, she didn’t originate the role, I don’t think she’s any bigger a sell than any West End actress or other Americans.
With all the emails I was getting I was sure that Mueller was bringing it over.
I have no problem with it being an American actress but I don’t understand McPhee.
I’ll probably eventually get to see it for the first cast replacement.

Do people only know Katherine McPhee from Smash or are they too young to remember she came second on American Idol? I only remember her from American Idol. I'd never heard of Smash until I looked it up just now.

This is a musical theatre message board; you can’t be saying stuff like that! 😂 I don’t know if you can stream it anywhere, but it was all over sky atlantic a few years ago and is well worth a watch.

Was this in the US? Did he ever come to the UK?
San Francisco! around 2007 I think...I happened to be there, he happened to have a concert, and Mum was a big fan so we went. Taylor Hicks, 2006! My sister was/is a huge fan and travelled to the US to see him in concert too ... I had her and a bunch of friends from the UK and - was it Sweden - at my house before a weekend meetup they'd arranged in London fangirling about Taylor. Personally I loved Chris Daughtry, who has played several gigs in London, none of which I felt compelled to go to. But thanks for the reminder of where I knew the name of Katherine McPhee from.

Just done some potential detective work. Although this kind of thing can obviously be taken with a pinch of salt.
The only actors Waitress London is following on Twitter other than Katharine? Rob Houchen, Jordan Lee Davies... and Cassidy Janson.

I assume the “three months” will probably be until the 25th of May, when the show is currently booking to.

Let’s just get through 12 weeks. And then we can all go see t.
Also, CJ for Jenna I’ve been shouting since I heard the score. So yes. Absolutely. Now.

I’d love Marisha Wallace as Becky. She’s basically the head of Dreamgirls at the minute but she could go straight from there into this.

Amy Ross followed Helen Woolf and Aaron Sidwell on Twitter and everyone managed to guess who it was before the big reveal.

Cassidy would be a good choice. Always worth looking on social media who is following who.

They also follow Frances Ruffell. I wouldn’t look too much into it.

Well if it is Cassidy Janson taking over then at least everyone will have got the big British name to draw in the crowds that they were complaining about when La McPhee was announced.

People didn't want a British name to draw in the crowds and that's actually why some had an issue with it being McPhee, because she wouldn't to a noticeable degree either so what is the point? I'd say quite a lot of the people who would be drawn to see something with her in would have gone to see Waitress at some point anyway. Again, i do quite like her, she's been good in everything i've seen her in and am a big fan of both Smash and her other show Scorpion. This isn't about not liking her or not knowing who she is. Also i'm quite likely to actually go whilst she's in the role. This is nothing against her. I'm simply questioning quite the point of this initial casting, especially now we know it's only for three months.

Hugh Jackman has confirmed he will be joined by Keala Settle on his world arena tour next year according to The Independent, so any hope of her in London for this has gone.

I can only assume that they are expecting at least some name recognition with Katharine, as new posters for the show featuring her have gone up round London.
