I like Waitress, but I find the Chris Fitzergarld song and scenes cringeworthy.

I like Waitress, but I find the Chris Fitzergarld song and scenes cringeworthy. I thought so too. His scenes and the first song seemed to go on and on forever. The audience went crazy over it though. Lots of laughing and cheering through it. Now I've grown accustomed to listen to it on the cast recording. The lyrics are quite funny. But it was just too much on stage. Despite that I loved the show. Sara Bareilles was great. And I have to admit I cried all the way from when she had the baby to the end... ^^* But this has happened while watching the movie too, so I kind of expected it.

WIG Specialties LTD have just posted their upcoming projects on Facebook and among them is 'Waitress.'
Really hope this is happening as I loved this when I saw it on Broadway a fortnight ago.

This is the sort of thing London needs at the moment. I can see this going down well with london audiences - loved it when I saw it on Broadway. I've said it before but I'd love to see Cassidy Janson play Jenna. I think it would sit well in the Gielgud or the Aldwych.

False alarm, sadly.
The wigs that they are working on are for the U.S. Tour.
I really do hope that it makes it over here.

It was my least favourite show I saw in New York in April. Basically about a group of people all having affairs in a cake shop. Some nice music though I agree. Problem is a pie for people in the U.K. is a different thing and unlike Hairspray, Memphis, Kinky Boots, Wicked etc there is no message or reason for the show. It's vacuous and American and I doubt it will transfer.

Might this be linked to the wig post on Facebook from yesterday or has there been any other news today?

Sara Bareilles pretty much confirmed a Spring 2018 transfer by quoting someone saying she was thrilled and seconds later deleted the tweet. I have a screenshot but don't know how to post it here.

Not to start a completely unsubstantiated rumour, but when I saw the show in NYC in April, I clocked Sheridan Smith coming out the stage door. Not sure if she'd have the vocal chops (or if she'd go back to MT so soon after Funny Girl) but she'd certainly act the hell out of Jenna.

I have zero interest in this. Would rather see almost everything else from this season transfer.

Also meaningless.

Are these the same people who had an article "confirming" Dear Evan Hansen? With a very handy sign up for updates and ticket info...i.e. 100% clickbait we want your email addresses.

I think if we can cope with the American liberal use of 'fanny' and calling the boot of a car a 'trunk' (tsk Americans) I imagine we'll be able to manage with what they think a pie is (or isn't).

Do you think we'll get a well known West End actress as Jenna aka Tucker/Dearman/Ellis, or perhaps a celebrity//stunt casting to help promotion (although I can't think of any celebs who would suit it lol!
It's not going to be very familiar outside of musical theatre circles so would it need a "name"!?

I would anticipate that if Sara doesn't start it off over here then it will be a MT actress.

As we seem to be in a bit of a gender casting mood at the moment, rename the show "Waiter', bring over Aaron Tveit, make him wear something tight and we're all done.
Really, no-one will care what kind of pies he's making.

The show is basically a tedious story about everyone having affairs and nothing is sewn up at the end. It's a shame as some of the music is very nice

nothing is sewn up at the end Presumably, if everything had been sewn up at the start, the affairs wouldn't have happened anyway? [ My point is there is no real ending or resolution in the book or plot and you leave the theatre with the feeling that it was not complete. Think of most shows and remove the last 10/15 minutes. That's what waitress feels like. Fun show, nice music, odd story, unresolved plot.

My point is there is no real ending or resolution in the book or plot and you leave the theatre with the feeling that it was not complete. I did not feel this way at all. It's a pretty happy ending. Well... spoiler I guess... . . . She finally has the guts to leave Earl. As soon as she has LuLu she falls in love with her and realises it was the best decision to have her. She even gets her own diner from Earl because she was a true friend to him. And she realises it was wrong to have that affair and unfair to Dr. Pomatters wife so she breaks it up. Basically she's finally able to live a happy life. And even Dawn found true love in Ogie. When I watched the movie I was really rooting for Jenna and Dr. Pomatter and I was kind of disappointed they didn't end up together. But it's still a nice ending. And I loved the ending in the show. I thought it was a real feel good moment.
