I wouldn't be at all surprised now if this came over, it has just had its highest grossing week ever at $1,100,048.00, third $1,000,000.00 week in a row and fourth overall $1,000,000.00 week. It just seems to be going from strength to strength! So impressive! Well over 100% of potential gross and seating capacity! I really hope they will find a theatre, I think it would do well in the West End, it's just a very approachable show with great music. Though I do think Jessie Mueller plays a big part in the succes, she's just unreal. So I'm interested to see how that will work out here as I don't think she will come over.. Any super early casting ideas? I think Rachel Tucker could be an amazing Jenna! I really want Leanne Jones as Becky and Zizi Strallen as Dawn. As Jenna, I'd love Rachelle Ann Go, Jess Daley or Evelyn Hoskins. Danielle Hope, Emma Kingston or Carrie Hope Fletcher would all be amazing too.

Really did not enjoy this. It's got a good score, and Mueller is great, but it's a bland and flavourless show. My thoughts exactly.

The character needs a certain gravitas to her, and utter despair of life and love from years of abuse- those three are so young, and lack the life experience/ acting maturity to carrie the role I think. (also with the book being so dull, a really strong actress is needed to elevate the material a few times over- Jessie Mueller is a revelation on B'way right now.. I'd prefer a stronger actress to a big voice)

Someone said on here the success of the show is down to casting Jessie Mueller, which I dont doubt, also this week they announced the closure of Shuffle Along ecause of the unavailability of the excellent Audra McDonald. Isn't refreshing that Broadway stars are attracting peole to theatre and people want to see great performances and be entertained by their craft from theses stars, so refreshing they aren't from television and movies and some of the time cannot act, hence stories of ear pieces, strolls to the water cooler or macbooks with lines being fed.
I think it is great, I also think Sara Barellies is too.

Hmm, I could be wrong here but I think the draw was more Sara Barellies than Jessie. Sara has been promoting the show heavily to her fans since before it opened and even had that album of her singing the songs. I also think the colourful, upbeat marketing helps. I didn't know of Jessie until Beautiful and I follow Broadway theatre fairly closely, so I don't see why tourists would know her name, especially as she doesn't do any TV or film. Sure, having a Tony winner as the lead tends to bode well but I don't think this is similar to Audra, who I think has managed to make herself a star from theatre alone which is great in this day and age. That's to be expected though considering Audra has been doing Broadway for much longer and has the most Tonys for acting out of anyone. I'm not expecting to see a huge drop for Waitress after Jessie leaves to be honest. This is not to take away from her performance which is wonderful.

Yep yep agree with all this- i think Sara was more of a draw than Jessie (who I adore, so that's nothing to say of her), and also that while the score had a few gems (Ogie's song and She Used to be Mine) but as a whole it sounded like one long song, reptitve and borderline boring (and the book didn't help)- but I think it was a great first attempt and hopefully Sara won't be scared to try her hand at a musical again in the future. That said about Jessie- I think marketing her in London as "Tony winning actress Jessie Mueller" could be a draw for British audiences, even if no one has heard of her before (hint hint PLEASE bring Jessie over)

Katie Brayben for Jenna? Played the role of Carole King which obviously Jessie originated on Broadway, great actress and singer, and Olivier Award winner.

She has a beautiful voice, but I think Jessie and Sara have more character in their voices which works for the song when it is context.

If this is the case (which as you say, take as a pinch of salt), my guess would be the Novello and move Mamma Mia!, possibly next door to the Aldwych Theatre after Beautiful? Or move Waitress there?
It all depends on when Waitress is aiming to come in, as it could do the Adelphi but Kinky Boots seems to be doing well, as does Mamma Mia! so it all depends on when those shows choose to close or move to a different theatre, though if Kinky closes at the Adelphi, I don't think it would move, whilst I would imagine Mamma Mia! moving as it has more staying power.

The adelphi becoming free sooner rather than later wouldn't surprise me and has a better location but novello would probably be a better fit size wise

The other thing to consider is that Sarah Barielles isn't as well known over here than in America (not to deny her fanbase), the film isn't either. It will come over purely on the word-of-mouth from Broadway which admittedly is good but I would think a 1000 seat theatre is probably the smartest move for this show, especially as it is only in a 1069 seat theatre on Broadway.

She is a lot bigger in America, even though I personally really like her music!

I would say she is famous in America, hence why she has been able to contribute to this show's success to the degree that she has, but I don't know how many people remember her here. I could be wrong, but I don't see the show being a big success in London in the same way that it has been in New York.

Gosh, I remember "Love Song" being so overplayed on the radio, but I agree it is one of her best songs. "Brave" got a fair amount of radio air time when it was first released but only charted at number 48 in the UK charts. She is definitely more renowned in the States but she is a really good songwriter. "Hold My Heart", "Breathe Again" and "King of Anything" are also ones I frequently listen to by Sara. I definitely wouldn't say no to seeing Waitress as I have listened to Sara's album of the songs and "She Used To Be Mine" really stood out. I'm agreeing this probably would need a name to grab a good UK audience due to Sara not being such a huge name over here to sell the show, although Mr Barnaby will not be pleased to say I am one of the guilty ones who would like to see Rosalie in the role.
