Anyone know what this is about? I believe after the show Lucie performed ‘She Used To Be Mine’ which was recorded and streamed on Instagram.

Anyone know what this is about? They were celebrating the 300th performance of Waitress in London, so they did an encore of She Used To Be Mine, professionally recorded for future use and livestreamed. Lucie performed it more 'out of character' and got a raputrous round of applause and standing O. BTW - upper circle still open, including the very back rows, on a relatively quiet Monday post-Half Term night.

Does anyone know why Lucie seems to be off for so many shows recently? Olivia & Sarah seem to have been getting a lot of opportunities to go on for Jenna, which I don’t remember happening during Katharine’s run. Not complaining, I was very happy to get to see Olivia’s Jenna recently. She was phenomenal. I also thought she had better chemistry with David than Lucie did when I saw her closer to the start of her run. I have seen the show several times in London now (thanks TodayTix Rush Tickets!) and I also caught it in Toronto when I was there over the summer. The London production felt much stronger, fresher, more energetic and yes, more crude, than the North American tour I saw. Just as an example, in the Bad Idea Reprise when Jenna brings the “pineapple upside down pie” and spreads her legs on the doctors bench, Dr Pomatter simply held the pie in his hands and ate it rather than placing it on her belly. Everything was just toned down. I certainly prefer the bawdier west end version. Maybe I’m just a little low brow. The North American First International Tour is deliberately toned-down with regards to some of the innuendo, sexual references, and swearing - Desi Oakley has spoken about this in interviews. The London production has the same script (except the adlibs when Ogie leaves after Never Getting Rid Of Me and different locations when Becky suggests where Jenna could open a pie shop) and choreography as on Broadway.

Lucie is great. It annoys me that if Waitress is nominatee for any Oliviers it's probably going to be KMP nominated because she opened it. Not that i thought she was bad, far from it, but i'd prefer Lucie to get the nods for this show.

I work in a school and it’s our half term this week (which I’m spending in London). I believe the show last night was nearly sold out which is good news.

Just to wrap this up, half term is whenever the local council/LEA want it to be. My sons old high school just ran together all of their inservice days and had a fortnight for Oct half term. As you were 😀

Saw Waitress again for the first time in a while - last chance I’m probably gonna get to see it before Laura leaves 🙁 She was great as always - I don’t think they could have cast Dawn better, and can’t wait to see what Laura does next - girl has tons of talent! .... show was v enjoyable as always, even if I do think the show has lost a bit of the OG sparkle with all the recent cast changes. I’m still struggling to really get into Lucie’s Jenna ... of all the Jennas I’ve seen I probably enjoy her portrayal the least (although it’s obviously relative) as I find her Jenna too OTT and not as truthful as others, and therefore less moving (but I’ve always preferred the less is more approach when it comes to Jenna). I can’t knock her pipes though and SUTBM was a highlight as always - and I still think Kat and Lucie are the best vocalists of all of Jennas I’ve seen! 😍
Sandra was great and is a really good addition as Becky, although I did find myself missing the some of the sass that Marisha had lol.
Joe surprised me - I found his Ogie v endearing, if a little hammy! Sure, he doesn’t have the best voice ever but that’s never stopped waitress before when casting Ogie!! I loved Jack McBrayer despite his terrible singing lol, so can’t really complain about Joe’s! Oh and you can tell it’s half term week because he def had a lot of enthusiastic fans in the audience! No bad behaviour from what I could see so I think a lot of the pretentious tweets from some waitress fans telling Joe fans how to behave was way off the mark.
Oh and Piers Bate was on as Dr P and I found him to be v charming!

Today’s matinee is officially sold out! The power of half term and Joe Sugg fans! 😆 Good for Waitress - first times it’s been sold out since Kat’s last show I think! Considering people were predicting it’s demise after only a few months it seems to be doing well enough! I have noticed that the general ticket prices are not as high as they were during its first few months so you can get more good seats at reasonable prices (outside of rush and todaytix).

Imagine feeling this entitled... By the way, security always lets everyone know when people have left or when no one else is coming out, it's just Joe Sugg's fans that do not believe them and refuse to leave... 🙄

Saw the matinee, and it did look pretty much a sell out. The new additions to the cast were great - Joe Sugg is a very funny and likeable Ogie. His singing isn't quite as good as Blake's, but much better than Jack's. Andrew Boyer and Tamlyn Henderson both did well in their roles - they sang their solo songs very well. I have been a big fan of Sandra Marvin since I saw her in Hairspray, and she is great in this - I Didn't Plan It is a great song for her to show off her voice, and she did just that. Her line delivery was very funny too. We had Piers Bate for Dr Pomatter - and sparky5000 got it right when they called him charming - it's exactly the word I would use to describe his Dr P (he has a great voice too). Overall, the show is in very good shape at the moment, I'll be back soon to see the new cast.

And perhaps the new Jenna? If it is the new Jenna and theyre pimping it now I’ve got a feeling it might be Sara Bareilles! She’s not closing out the show in NYC (which most people predicted she would) because they’ve just announced Kat McPhee is, so maybe she’s not doing that to concentrate on London! If the show needs a bit of a financial boost Sara will probably bring in some extra seats on bums. Or, yeah it could just be the new Ogie 😆
