I mean, it’s just easy to watch. Every character is flawed which I enjoy and adds more realism. I don’t know what that word means lol!

Actually, a baby doctor is an Obstetrician isn’t it? I’m not sure. Not familiar having never had one! Is Dr Pottamer her GP, her obstetrician or her gynaecologist?
Either way it’s wrong, and I’m furious about it 🙂

Anyone know what this is about? OMG yes I was there tonight and it was too funny! 😂 To give some background it was a really lively audience tonight which gave the whole evening a really great atmosphere! Basically in the Bad Idea scene (the first one) when Dr P says that Jenna is fine and she's all "but don't you want to examine me" a lady I think in the dress circle exclaimed really loudly "ooooohhhhh" because she has a dirty mind like we all probably do lol, and it completely broke David and Kat who literally couldn't stop laughing. And not just smiling giggling but they were properly laughing and just couldn't compose themselves which got the whole audience laughing too! Lol. And it went on for so long I was worried they might have to abandon the scene lol. Eventually Kat managed to say "assss I was saying" and they continued the scene but were still pretty broken the rest of the scene. And then the best bit was later in that scene Jenna repeats the "but you don't want to examine me" line, and right after she did it, whilst looking at Dr P Kat held her finger up to the audience jokingly to stop us laughing again and it was a brilliant moment. Lol. Probs a had to be there moment but I haven't laughed so much ever at an unplanned moment like that 😂

Okay so I hadn’t been to the diner for a while and went with some friends this evening, and even aside from the hilarious Bad Idea scene above, this was definitely the most fun I’ve had seeing the show. All the cast were on fire, even during their unprofessional bits (see above) 😂. My friends loved it too which always helps. It might have to do with it being the first time I’ve seen it since they started selling rush tickets now for the stalls and dress circles, which are likely younger fans but it was an even better atmosphere than usual tonight and the audience seemed super engaged, at least from where we were in the stalls.
Also the cast was all on fire this evening and seemed to be having a heck of a lot of fun. Idk but it seems to me that they’ve just gone 10% extra on all the humour! Kat, Marisha and Laura all absolutely nailed their big solos, and holy sh*t, I know Kat’s vocals are always on point but her She Used To Be Mine this evening was like next level amazing! I really hope someone recorded it (if I’m allowed to say that lol) because I need to hear that again. Also David was the funniest I’ve ever seen him as Dr P this evening! 😆 The only problem though with going all out with the humour on a show like this, and especially with a really receptive audience, is that it definitely does make those more serious moments seem quite jarring!
And also, idk but it felt a little like after all the ~drama~ this week the cast have just pulled together even more. The chemistry between them all is great imo 😍
Shaun is still off as Old Joe, so I think it was Chris McGuigan as Old Joe this evening, and even though he clearly didn’t look particularly old lol, I really liked him and “Take It From An Old Man” was lovely!
Oh and forgot to mention, the audience absolutely ate Jack McBrayer up this evening. He was v funny and he is hamming it up soooo much now for laughs! And his voice is definitely a lot better. Still pretty bad at times but certainly not horrific haha!
Oh and all 3 levels were open this evening.

Got a rush ticket for tonight but in the dress circle I really wanted the stalls because of leg room. I did consider letting the ticket go and trying later incase they released more rush tickets as there are plenty available seats in the stalls. I decided too risky as I'm in London tonight only with no show to see, so I'll appreciate my dress circle ticket 😊

Soooo, she has a pie where her hands should be...thats why they cast her. It all makes sense now. 😂 That is such a truly terrible photo, not just the hand stumps. It’s like the marketing team for this just don’t give a damn. Yuh-huh. I feel bad for her and embarrassed for the mktng team. The lighting, composition, everything is bizarre. Her nose looks twice as wide as it actually is, her bun looks 'shopped on, there is an aura of menace like she's gonna try and kill me with that pie It's not just that she's beautiful and this photo does her no favours, it's more that this photo is a contextless, ugly mess and it makes me sad.

I honestly don’t see what the fuss is about re the photo. It’s a standard press photo that shows Ashley in costume. She looks fine. The photo isn’t going to be used on billboards all over the West End. I don’t think it’s something anyone on the marketing team has strong feelings about either way and I certainly doubt they feel embarrassed. I suspect whatever photo was released there would be somebody to find fault with it...

Bad quality photoshop, bad picture angle, very fake facial expression and a weird thing is happening with her hands. Slightly off topic, but I notied that it is quite common for West End to issue promo pictures/cast announcements with really BAD photos. That don't do actors any justice. Of course these a personal taste and such, but I would never use such pics for a promo. As i would never use this one.

Alas ‘Anthem’ is probably reacting how 85% of the theatregoing public would. If Ashleys name was above her picture they’d tilt their head to to the side and squint, just to check that it was actually her, say meh! and walk away never to think about it again. Certainly they wouldn’t be engaged enough to find out anything else about it, and it’s highly unlikely that it would spur anyone into buying a ticket. The existing poster, maybe with Lucie’s face photoshopped over Kats, and a photoflash at the side advertising ‘PCD Ashley’ for a limited time run would be far more enticing to a tourist. Not some creepy ass pie monster with a weird looking face and Tootsie glasses.

I feel like whatever Ashley does now she’s going to get criticised! Btw, I really want Ashley to succeed as Dawn (and I’m gonna see her in the show at least before casting aspersions) because I want to show to succeed, but watching Laura last night, she really is so perfect as Dawn, and she’s going to be a hard act to follow. 😩 It got me nervous! 😬😄 I also think the chemistry of the 3 leads is really important (and Kat, Marisha and Laura have a really nice chemistry) so I hope that’s something Lucie, Marisha and Ashley can create too.

I watched Aladdin today and got a lovely surprise when I saw Marisha in it. I didn't realise she made an appearance.

I liked the pic of Ashley. I thought it was cute. It was a classic “let’s try to make this really attractive woman look a bit dorky”. It reminded me of Annelle in Steel Magnolias when they had to dork up the undeniably attractive Daryl Hannah. A pair of specs usually comes into it 🤓

Hi, I want to book A 33 in the circle but it says it’s restricted view and legroom. Has anyone sat here or knows why it is so discounted! It’s £35!!

I don't think I commented on my seat. Dress Circle A33, brilliant! Sold as restricted view and limited legroom. Didn't notice any of those things! Quoting this in reply to the above post. 👍

Having just finished my Sunday morning read of my programmes, I was a little surprised on reading the Waitress one to see that no mention is made in it of how Adrienne Shelley died. She is referred to as 'passing away' twice. I did a search on the board and there is only one mention from a comment last September. Is it deliberate from the marketing standpoint to not mention her murder as it's a 'frothy' musical. albeit with serious subplots? Passed away implies to me a gentle kind of death which hers was not. Does it contrast too starkly with the DV of Earl and the semi-stalking of Ogie do we think? Am feeling a bit confused and also I think it insults the memory of Ms Shelley.

Does it contrast too starkly with the DV of Earl and the semi-stalking of Ogie do we think? Am feeling a bit confused and also I think it insults the memory of Ms Shelley. The musical is based on a movie and the characters are just that- fictitious characters. I think it would be more unusual to go into detail on the cause of death of an actress who starred in the movie the musical is based on. For example, the Bodyguard programme has no mention of Whitney Houston’s cause of death- drowning in a bath tub. Perhaps it is done deliberately so as to not unsettle people but perhaps it just wasn’t seen as relevant- surely the company and the story itself should be the focus of the programme. On the other hand, I had never seen the movie or heard of Ms Shelly and I am sorry to hear of how she passed. Interestingly, I understand Waitress was released after Ms Shelly had already died.
