This has all the signs of a really cheap touring show that will rip everyone off when it hits London

Bit torn on this one. I'd really like to see Whoopi, but not necessarily singing.

I was up for this until I heard the venue. It's a monster of a place. Great for concerts but not musicals. Will give it a miss. Shame.

It's not going to be a great sounding show is it, neither of them can really sing.
Personally I still want to see it to see them both on stage and Whoopi back in the role though , even if it's all a little strange.
Now we know why they ages up the role for the tour compared to previous versions. Though Whoopi is still I think rather a bit older than Brenda?

Hmmmm, call me cynical, but putting a tour designed for as little as one week sit downs in a venue like the Hammersmith and replacing a lead who can sing with a big name that can't, tells you everything you need to know.
Almighty cash in. The signs were there sadly. Save your pennies folks!

Well the "big name who can't" literally played the role in the film that the show is based on, so to be fair I don't think that it's quite as bad as you make it sound. People will love to see Whoopi play the role again, it's quite a big deal. Also nowadays tours can be still designed excellently whether they are one week runs or 4 months runs. We dont know yet what the production is like.

Yuh I mean fair enough I do get that Whoopi is a megastar - but is a personal bug bear of mine that "musical" doesn't these days seem to make producers/casting directors think "singer."

Brenda Edwards will be playing the role of Deloris Van Cartier for Thursday matinee performances. Ah I’m now torn. As much as I’d love to see Whoopi, I also want to hear good vocals... Thursday matinee it is then.

The Hammersmith Apollo is such a horrible venue for musicals. Anything other than the front half of the stalls you might as well be watching on a screen.

I quite like the Hammersmith Apollo from mid-stalls - there isn't enough of a rake in the front stalls for someone short like me!
I would love to see Brenda Edwards but some of us work office hours - I hate that shows always seem to put understudies on the matinees!

I think I’ll just catch this one on tour! I wonder if Jennifer will do the tour too, it would definitely sell tickets!

I love SISTER ACT, but don’t love the sound of this. I felt that the original London production was glorious, but the show seems to be diminishing with every revival. I didn’t like the CRH production at the Curve at all. I will probably avoid this. As others have said, I cannot imagine it being sung very well.

My thought is I don't care if they can't sing the score very well, it's the original Deloris, Whoopi Goldberg, and Jennifer Saunders!
Enough said.
Plus, I plan to catch the tour beforehand anyway so will have got the good singing bit already.

I mean I booked, but am going in to this expecting an event, rather than a musical. Whoopi cannot sing this score, but to see the original Deloris play her on stage will be pretty great, and Jennifer Saunders is brilliant comedy value.
I really dislike the theatre though, so we'll just have to see.

Managed to book the only tickets left availed - the very last row of the balcony. Urgh. At least I’ll be in the room!
