Jasper Britton to be in it as well. We don't half like to drip-feed info on this board sometimes!

Since both her parents were in the original run, it's going to be an emotional one for Finty Williams.
I suppose the play is being revived now because of Trump's ongoing efforts to discredit the idea of objective truth.

I wonder if anybody else had to audition for it. The producers and marketing team must have just snapped her up immediately to get the promotion

Loved this when I saw it on tour with Lorna Luft. Also I’ve got the DVD with Ellen Burtstyn. Always wanted to mount my own version. Sadly don’t think I’ll get to see this production.

I always get a little excited when the Menier announce their shows and then I remember the crazy prices for their shows and realise that I don't want to see them enough ;(

Didn't they do that because the productions didn't do that well though? Better hope they don't do that so frequently or there might not be a Menier to go to after a while.

Trying to make sure I see more than just West End productions this upcoming trip. I've never been here but what should I look for in booking seat? Just from what I've googled it seems like there wouldn't be a really bad view anywhere?

Just from what I've googled it seems like there wouldn't be a really bad view anywhere? It's a flexible space so the layout varies by production: looking at the seating plan this is in a standard forward facing layout - so generally all seats are fine - more central is better but there's not a lot in it! On oddity for this theatre is the "meal deal" tickets which are assigned to certain seats - these include a 3 course set meal in the restaurant attached to the theatre.

These are bench seats? Big butt and bench seats means I'd better get aisle so I make sure I don't "overflow" into neighbors seat if seats are on small side.

Timely post, reminded me to book, plenty of tickets available on the dates I was looking at, Jasper Britton the draw for me.

Entertaining enough cloak-and-dagger play, doesn't say anything new about theatre or any particular genre or life indeed. At times a bit Simon Grayish, the odd Pinteresque moment and even Bennett in Cambridge-spy mode.
Never seen the Menier stage quite as wide as this, to encompass three different settings with no need to change sets. Clever. Good performances from the entire cast. Extremely hot and stuffy in the auditorium with tangible evidence of the obesity crisis in how everyone is crammed against their neighbours.
I do worry about what would happen in this theatre if an emergency evacuation was ever needed.

I do worry about what would happen in this theatre if an emergency evacuation was ever needed. I did raise this concern after my last visit (to the Rattigan revival of 2017 I think) as it had taken a ridiculously long time for everyone to file out at the interval and again at the end and someone here posted that there are emergency exits which can be opened if necessary. Not that that addresses the regular issue of others encroaching on your seat space.

And the fact they are not opened regularly can lead to their being blocked or otherwise compromised if they are ever needed.

The Donmar's stopped opening its emergency exit as a standard exit for security reasons, so they probably have reasons for using emergency exits *only* when there's an emergency. Any building worth its salt runs regular drills so the fire exits aren't going to randomly seal themselves shut through lack of use unless the staff are seriously negligent.

I haven't forensically examined where the fire exits are there, but it's usually about the exit route and where they open up onto that determines whether they can be an 'extra' exit. For example one venue I used to work at had a fire exit that went via the roof of an adjacent building, and the other into an alleyway...neither ideal for turfing regular audience out onto. But yes, any organisation worth it's salt will have staff who know this, and get get everyone out very quickly in a hurry.

I'm fairly sure the Menier's emergency exits take you out through the wings/backstage areas which will be in use by cast and crew immediately post-show. Different situation in an emergency of course.

There seem to be two emergency exits. The one on the top right hand side may well take you to the wings/backstage area. The one on the left, I am almost certain, just takes you to the area leading to the steps which lead to the bar which, in turn, are a funnel until you get to the restaurant area. If I am right, this exit is not very useful in an emergency..

I'll have to check again next time I'm there, but I'm fairly sure there's at least one, possibly two other emergency exits from the bar area without going back out through the restaurant. In any event, it often crosses my mind when waiting (impatiently, as I usually have a train to catch) to exit at the end of a show that we'd be in trouble in an emergency, but on the two occasions I have had to evacuate from a theatre mid-show, it was quick, calm and uneventful. Admittedly there was no visible cause for panic in either case - things might be rather different if there was.
