I'm hearing from more and more people, it's looking very likely Lucie Jones will be joining Wicked x

Great news on Lucie if so.
If things are changing, can we get a Glinda who can deliver the comedy and warmth without overenunciating and coming across as a precocious toff. It always seems badly cast, no-one has come close to Louise Dearman.

I think Helen Woolf will be due back from maternity leave around cast change time. Which I’m glad about as she’s probably the funniest Glinda they’ve had recently.

PLEASE please let this be true …
Lucie Jones as Elphaba and Helen Woolf as Glinda sounds like a perfect pairing to me! 😍

I think Laura sounded the best out of those three Defying Gravity pro shots uploaded to the Wicked TikTok. Jennifer Dinoia seemed to be having a rough night on Broadway.

I would love to see Lucie as Elphaba, her belt is incredible. But I also expected the next Elphaba to be a woman of colour. Didn't Wicked make some sort of commitment to diverse casting in response to BLM? Maybe I'm thinking of the Broadway production.

Nah they absolutely did that and if the pairing is to be believed (which I have heard from multiple sources it is) then the backlash to that statement and then a two white girl pairing is gonna be...intense

Didn't Wicked make some sort of commitment to diverse casting in response to BLM? Maybe I'm thinking of the Broadway production. They have hired someone to address this but not just for London. They will also be looking at Broadway and who knows where else... To have had no Elphaba of colour apart from Alexia in 15 casts is shameful. Remember there are also three Elphaba covers per cast . No non white Glindas at all that I can remember. Two Fiyero covers. It really is not good enough by any stretch of the imagination but it goes way beyond colour. Why should pretty much everyone in the ensemble apart from a couple of tracks be very thin when there is no reason to be for plot purposes.

Rebecca Gilliland is on as Elphaba for both shows today (16th October, 2021).
I'm super jealous of the audience members today. Rebecca is probably one of the most talented Elphaba understudies the West End has ever had!
Edit: Charli Baptie was also on as Glinda for the evening show.

I’ve really taken to Lucie since her Eurovision entry so if she does make her debut as Elphaba along side Helen then that would be enough to convince me to see the show again.

It takes a key bit of casting to get me interested in seeing Wicked again these days. Lucie Jones (wherever this rumour has come from) would definitely tempt me back.

Laura’s been down with that awful cold that’s been going around. I’m glad she’s taking the time to care for herself rather than work through it and potentially make it worse.
