Elphaba is returning to London! The Ultimate Elphaba is returning... this is just the best news! Majorly annoyed about Katie Rowley Jones though, she must have serious fear of unemployment. Yes how DARE someone accept a contract extension in one of the biggest shows in the world over having no money coming in. It's such an easy industry to get another job in too.

Paulo and Hannah have been there for a while. Hannah Toy since 2011 at least right? Am I right in thinking she's associate choreographer as well?

I think it's more the fact her performance is coming across as tired, I know the last time I saw her which was a while ago now she came across as though she didn't want to be there. I'm all for her staying in secure safe job, it's what we all want really, but in a position where it's your job to entertain and deliver you have to still do that no matter how long you've been there.

No one can blame an actor for wanting to stay employed, of course, but when you look at the other people who have come and gone in Wicked, including other past Nessas, it's hard to ignore the fact that she has been in the show for a very long time in comparison. She must surely be getting bored with the role now, and I personally would like to see her in something new. I think she's a talented performer and would like to see her in a different role.

It's a short extension though, I'm guessing more because the producers wanted a couple of nods to the original cast than anything else

I think that's a totally fair comment to make. Daniel's was just ludicrous and quite frankly insulting.

I think that's a totally fair comment to make. Daniel's was just ludicrous and quite frankly insulting. I feel like Alex Brightman summed it up perfectly in his recent Broadway.com interview about his time as Boq on Broadway, something along the lines of cast members had been in it so long they started walking through their roles and discussing their dinner plans whilst on stage. It made it a horrible experience for him let alone the audience. Worth a watch if you haven't sent it. I do kinda agree with that, there are better way to word things but i guess we are all here to voice our thoughts on this.

She shouldn't be phoning it in, that's an acceptable criticism.

Like I say I think this SHORT extension is as much about the producers wanting a couple of original cast members as KRJ wanting to stick around

The article also says: Completing the new cast are James Darch, Kerry Enright, Freya Field, Joseph Fletcher, Fraser Fraser, David Gale, Sergio Giacomelli, Alexandra Grierson, Olivia Kate Holding, Aaron Jenkins, Claudia Kariuki, Will Lucas, Chanel Mian, Billy Mitchell, Scott Monello, Ella Nonini, Rosa O’Reilly, Julienne Schembri, Joe Sleight, Jessamy Stoddart, Paulo Teixeira, Joe Toland, Hannah Toy, Russell Walker, Sasha Wareham and Helen Woolf. Im not very knowledgeble about the london cast, so forgive the possible cluelessness, but are they all new? I don't see Laura Emmitt's name or Natalie M's- are they leaving? I was hoping for Laura to be bumped up to standby, or at least stay on as understudy

In all fairness I imagine it might be a little disheartening for her, she was in touching distance of Elphaba at one point and instead stayed as Nessa. I know we don't know what exactly went on but if I were her and got a taste of lead id want it all the time.

I have come to accept the fact now that Rachel just is Elphaba. The definitive Elphaba. I saw her on Broadway tonight and have decided it is probably my last Wicked. Nothing compares. In light of today's announcement, I retract the first sentence of my statement above! P.s. Sorry Michael! As much as you would have liked a new Elphie, I would have loved to see Rachel in something completely new. But I'll take what I can get. At least she's back on the right side of the pond. (And yes, I would have flown over to see her in something new on Broadway too. Been there, done that, got the Last Ship hoody.)

Just booked for the first night, and already got 10th Anniversary ticket sorted thanks to that little mishap on the website a few months back.
Really excited to see Rachel again.
Im really happy for Suzie Mathers...I remember watching her vlogs a couple of years ago when she actually moved to London, and thought it was just a matter of time before she became our Glinda...surprised it didnt happen sooner.
Although I agree that KRJ has been in the show too long, due to the fact she is only there un January, the producers obviously wanted a couple of the original cast members for the 10th, and who knows, she might step it up a bit for the 10th.

I'm just slightly annoyed that I've already booked two trips to London*) in September to see the new cast (9th-11th and 16th-18th) and that I'll have to find alternatives for at least one of those weekends. I guess even more Aladdin it is then. And I fear that I'll have to get up ridiculously early to get dayseats for the Saturday show(s). I, too, saw Rachel in The Last Ship, and she was the best thing about it. Don't have a hoody though. *) that is hotel and flights

Just booked for 28th Jan and have my anniversary ticket too. Add this to getting to see Jenny Denoia on Broadway in August and I'm finally excited about Wicked again!

so Alexandra Grierson is the 2nd Elphie understudy, would it be likely that Jessamy Stoddart would be the other?
And looks like both Natalie McQueen and Lauren James Ray are leaving too so we'll need another Glinda understudy and two Nessa's! Anyone got any insight?
(also Rachel. cries for eternity of happiness)

Any views on Suzie Mathers!? She's dropdead gorgeous, if that's what you're asking Haven't seen her before, so her casting is OK for me, but I'd have still hoped for someone (preferably British) who's completely new to the role. I am however really relieved that it isn't Emily Tierney returning (just found her Glinda average and she's already played that part for two years). The first West End Glinda was also from Oz, right?

Alice Fearn being standby Elphaba may mean I make a trip back (I've seen her in a couple of things over the years) - last time I went was when Willemijn was fronting the company.
