Notably only when she sang some of the American slightly came through... but then I remembered it was Rachel Tucker that was singing and I didn't even notice. Quite honestly, I think I was slightly in awe the whole time!  It's not necessarily a hangover from singing with an American accent. It could just be her own accent coming through. It always used to on certain vowels (most notably in I'm not that Girl). Admittedly it was easier to hide a Belfast accent under the American, as they're much more similar. She's said as much in a previous interview. The English accent takes more work. I wish they'd just let her use her own accent in the show. It's adorable. Yeah I love her real accent |

No it was definately an American accent, singing and speaking at times. Totally different to how she used to play it.
I loved it. It was like watching a completely new performer who has somehow got even better than her previous perfection.

Oh I'm so very jealous of you all! Rachel is so easily the best actress to take on the role - I love her angry Elphaba and her vocals are just insane! I can't wait for someone to post a cheeky YouTube video of tonight's defying gravity. All that said, Kerry Ellis was absolutely brilliant every time I've seen her in it too. Sorry but the best ever Elphaba is Jacqueline Hughes by a mile. I saw Jacqueline Hughes on the tour and was thrilled she was on as I'd heard good things and was blown away by her performance. I'm very much looking forward to seeing Rachel at the 10th Birthday performance and want to see Alice too after loving her in Shrek. To many good Elphabas! |

Please come back and let us know what you thought - love it or loathe it! Rachel was the first actress I ever saw in the role as Elphaba back in 2010 and she completely blew me away. Her acting, her vocals, everything. I hope you get as much enjoyment out of her performance as I did on my first time.  |

I try not to fangirl on here too much, but I loved listening to Rachel back again. My (late to the party) first ever show in the West End was Rachel and Gina giving it their all at the Apollo Victoria, I'm so pleased we can have part of that duo again.

Hahaha I think you misunderstood my reply. Jackie is not actually my favourite Elphaba so I wouldn't say that - I just didn't like the "...no." Part of the way it was said. I believe what I said about her vocals and acting, but never said she was my favourite. Yet another example of how it's easy for things to be lost in translation! Sorry if you thought I was being 'definite' - just don't like the way talented people are so easily passed off as being 'bland' or 'wooden' with no sense of remorse - I get it's an opinion but it's just my opinion that the way things are said online are increasingly vicious. (My favourite Elphaba was CJ for the record- was she the best? Probably not. Was she my favourite? Yep.) |

One of the best Elphabi (that's the plural for Elphaba, right?) I've seen was Shoshana Bean on Broadway. She was a perfect Elphaba. The other Elphaba I saw on Broadway, Julia Murney, was not!
London wise, was a huge fan of Alexia, CJ and Shona White! Do love me a bit of Tucker's Elphaba. Could listen to her voice all day.

It's the usual programme with the same old stuff in and recycled photos of Rachel Tucker. There's a glorious two page spread of Suzie in the bubble though. She is stunning!

I'm so excited because of all of your reviews! I'm hoping I can make it back to London before Rachel leaves the show in January. I doubt it though, because university and classes don't mix with travelling to London... Suzie sounds amazing as well! Her soprano sounds so incrdibly strong in NOMTW. I'm really curious to your review of the show jampot! Last july I saw Wicked for the first time on the West End (saw it three times in the Netherlands with Willemijn as Elphaba). I was blown away by it and it felt like I was seeing it for the first time again BurlyBeaR, thanks for the warm welcome! |

Ha...not sure how to review to all you wicked black belts...I dont know the cast greats you all speak of etc. But if you all want me to do it I will. A kinda rebirthing as I enter my first innnocent steps into the wicked world for the first time...I am sitting in stalls row l. Hope it will be a good view...

Can't believe that it's been 10 years today since I saw the first preview of Wicked in London! All memories of that evening and the buzz have come flooding back. Just remembered there was a show stop right after Glinda's bubble was meant to float down. The line 'It's good to see me, isn't it' went down an absolute storm when the show restarted. Very excited for the 10th Anniversary show.

I don't think I can ever get enough of this show. Still disappointed that I missed Willemijn in London by a week. I went to London the week after her last show  Totally understandable of course that she stopped, but in the back of my mind I’m hoping that she will come back one day. jampot . You can see the stage very well from the stalls if you're not too far on the side. Otherwise you'll miss a small part of the stage, I think. You're not too far back so you can still see the facial expressions Anyone who has seen the show more often than I have, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. |
