I know it's nobody's business but her own, but wouldn't it stop some of this ridiculous speculation if they put out a statement on the lines of, "Alexia will not be appearing due to a bereavement," if that is the case?

They shouldn’t have to do that ! Hopefully people will now stop all the crazy speculation

The speculation is only being done by a handful of people on the internet and really is not worthy of being responded to by any official account.

You’re right when you say it’s nobody’s business but her own. If she’s not in the show, she’s not in the show. The end. The speculation is only from a very, very small subgroup of theatre fans; it’s quite possible that fewer people are aware of her absence than the total sum of one audience of Wicked at the AV, so no statement needed. She’s suffered a loss, someone else is playing her role in her absence, the show goes on, the end. Not the first time an actor has been ‘indisposed’ and won’t be the last time.

Alexia has said on Instagram that she has lost her Dad. Her story says it all if I’m honest..

I don’t even think a reason needs to be given - but a line added to the cast page of “Alexia Khadime will not be performing X dates” - just update the holiday dates really - could reduce the drama a bit.
Although personally I don’t really see an issue with “due to bereavement”, “due to illness” etc being added, it’s not specific, it’s the same level of information that my clients would be told if I was absent from work unexpectedly for example. That should probably be up to the individual perhaps.

I’ve heard that Alexia’s father passed away some point earlier this month so that’s why she’s taken time off recently 💔

Finally back at the Apollo Victoria for the first time since Laura Pick and Sophie Evans' penultimate show.
And have to say very excited about seeing Alexia back on that stage again. She was the second Elphaba I ever saw, but she was the Elphaba that really made me fall in love with the show in the first place.
Managing to get a front row day seat last Wednesday is an added bonus as well.

I love that they have two women who have been best friends for 10 years headlining the show.

Haha I figured but you can never tell - they'd ask Ms Menzel before they'd ask Lucie I think! Why? Lucie is brilliant!

What’s interesting with Alexia and Lucie is they sound 100% when they are on, they are not struggling on stage, but still feel like they can’t go on for whatever reason. Different to someone like Kerry or Idina who had good attendance mostly but sometimes sounded tired and probably suffered vocal damage. I bet the company manager is wishing there was no UK tour so they could have hired Laura Pick for London and not have to manage all this absence. Yeah but in Kerry's case she missed shows because she was doing a UK Tour of her own album at the very same time she was in Wicked. But this again shows there are too many a week for one performer. I would rather people perform at their best

I love that they have two women who have been best friends for 10 years headlining the show. I saw the show on Saturday afternoon and they were both fantastic. Lucy’s humour much stronger than the first time I saw her around a month ago. And Alexia is killing it! She gets better and better. She did so much more with the part than last time I saw her a few weeks ago. They do have great chemistry.

Difficulties from both sides from the the very limited knowledge I have, but yes.
I think they're very glad to be into the 23/24 cast let's put it that way.

Without divulging too much what is your source for this? The cast gave a lovely tribute to both Helen and Lucie the last show. Hellen has also been there for years.

Wont be giving any info on source I'm afraid. The cast got along fine, so yes the speeches were nice. And I didn't say Helen was a problem? So not sure where you're getting that from.

Are you able to speak to what any of the difficulty was? And on a separate note, did anyone ever learn why every trace of that Sentimental Men episode featuring Lucie and Talia was wiped? Setting aside the nauseating self-congratulations (and I say that as someone for whom Talia is a favorite and who finds Lucie's voice divine), the only things I could think that might be objectionable were either their lengthy admissions to listening to each others' bootlegs or Lucie's blaming of several swings for her injury. I did think that was poor form. Also, for anyone curious, the final total was that, according to available records, she did 62.5% of her shows, missing at least 171 over the course of the 2022-2023 cast contract. Of those 171, it appears that Amy did 92 (53.8% what on Earth), Laura did 58 (33.9% - over 7 weeks worth of Elphaba shows as a first cover), Nicola did 13, Laura Pick did 6, and Rebecca Botterill did 2. And before anyone jumps on the normal "Leave them alone about attendance," "You get up there and trying doing it" bandwagon, please note that most forms of entertainment that are public-facing get questions when people's attendance is poor (see: professional sports and the like). The fact that highly publicized Lucie only showed up to work 63% of the time and that Amy can only be relied upon 54% of the time is the kind of thing that, in non-theater, would turn even more heads. Though at least for Amy's part, 92 shows is nothing to shake a stick at... but in this situation, it wasn't anywhere close to the 171. Meanwhile, this '23-'24 cast seems absolutely divine. What a treasure Alexia is.

I think it's worth noting that certain musical theatre roles are very vocally challenging and it's not always possible to tell in the casting process if someone can deliver it 8 times a week until the actual contract starts and it's put to the test.
Athletes train hard, but they train for competitions which come along on scheduled dates for specific competitions. A West End lead with a vocally difficult role is expected to deliver it 8 times with only one day off - every week!
Some singers will inevitably have "sturdier" vocal cords than others.
Some musical theatre roles really should have an alternate. I think it must be awful to get a couple of months into a 12-month contract and realise that your voice is just not able to carry on. And how do you know that until you're on the job? If you came from another musical theatre role previously which isn't as difficult to sing and were fine, you might think you can survive something more challenging, but that's not always the way.

She was talking about when she was injured during the fallen house scene. Apparently, when the guards grabbed her, they moved her in some way that it injured her back. That's unfortunate, and what happened is what happened, but the way she presented the story sort of had the air of condescension to them that they had injured her because they were all swings on and it only happened because they were all swings. I can't think that's what she intended, but it's how it came across. And especially in this era where the appreciation for swings and understudies is rightly at an all-time high (and when, especially in her cast, swings and understudies had to save the show constantly), it felt like very poor form.
All in all, if they way she presented herself on that podcast and on instagram during her contract (such as celebrating the last show of the week when she'd only done two) is any indication of how she conducted herself professionally, I'd be glad for the 23-24 cast if I were the powers that be, too.
