Nicola Espallardo is on as Elphaba for the evening show (9th March, 2024). We could potentially have Amy Webb as our Elphaba for the cast change and the final day of her contract! Madison Firth today! (10th March I should have said) At 12:30 a load outside stage door waiting in the rain!

I assume Alexia is back today. Nothing has been mentioned about Amy being on with only 10 minutes to curtain.

Looks like Alexia did the matinee today, as well as the first show of the new cast yesterday.

The marketing towards standby and understudy cast members at Wicked seems to have changed in recent months, both on tour and in London.
It made sense with the tour as the Elphaba Standby role is part of the main cast. But the recent London cast change has seen official press shots released for Laura and Christine and even giving them a picture in the programme. I don’t recall this ever happening before.
Social media posts have also focused on them more than previous casts. The recent tour understudy debuts have also been tweeted. Great for fans and the cast members themselves!
Wonder if this means they will play more of a key part in the cast, maybe as unofficial alternates?

Wonder if this means they will play more of a key part in the cast, maybe as unofficial alternates? There definitely seems to be more appreciation for the covers recently. It may have something to do with the fact that Laura and Christine are new standbys, even though they’ve both done the role as 1st covers previously. Amy Webb and Lisa-Anne Wood both had official photos which were used for the cover slips that were inserted into the programmes when they were on, but they didn’t seem to be used for marketing as much. Not sure if this was because both of them had been standbys for a few consecutive casts, so they continued to use the same photos of them each year. Hopefully it continues because it’s great to see Laura and Christine being included in the marketing for the show!

I see Lauren Samuels has been announced as Elphaba on the US tour. Could see her joining the UK cast at some point in the future

Very interesting casting
Is this the first time a a Brit has gone straight into a lead role in wicked in the us?
Agree she is a shoe in for next Elphaba in London
They must have originally auditioned her here to take over from Alexis before she extended
Exciting

Also we've no idea if she'll be any good, she's not done a single performance yet 😂

Charlotte Anne Steen (2nd u/s) is making her debut as Elphaba tonight.
I think Laura has been on most of this week and Kate went on last night but is now on holiday.

Looks like Alexia hasn't done a show since 27th April and only did a handful of shows in April. I wonder if she will last until March next year at this rate.
