Personally I'm not at all interested in this cast. Once cast change approaches and we get casting news, I'm sure myself and others will have more interest in the thread

I have seen this cast, but only because I didn't pay for the ticket...I have the tour booked for August and subject to future casting will go back to London later this year.
I also think it'd be brilliant to see the reactions on this board if Savannah and/or Emma were to continue with another contract...I'm predicting riots in the streets!

Rachel Tucker is absolutely smashing it out of the park on Broadway - I'm not saying I want her back in London for a long run as I want to see new blood in the West End cast but if she took over in September to see through the anniversary and the Christmas season that would be incredible!

I know I will get shot down in flames but I cant keep quiet anymore. I have only seen the clips on YouTube etc but I cannot see what is so special about Rachel Tucker. Personally I do not think she is that good a singer. I have seen clips of other Elphaba's who are much better singers. Jusy my opinion.
Now I await the backlash

Why should we?
Rachel was my first Elphaba, so she'll always hold a special place in my heart. She blew me away back at the AV, but when I recently saw her on Broadway again, I was left somewhat underwhelmed. Who knows, maybe I glorified her too much over time, or maybe it's because I've seen quite a few even stronger Elphabas since then, but personally I'd be pretty disappointed if she returned to London (as Elphaba, not in general of course). I really do want a new Elphaba.

For me personally, I don't think YouTube clips do Rachel justice. She is a powerhouse live in the theatre. Of course her portrayal of Elphaba may not be everyone's favourite (although she happens to be my joint favourite with Willemijn.) I'm 50/50 whether I think she'll return to London for the anniversary. Time will tell!

What are the celebrations for the 10th anniversary?? Who's coming back?

What are the celebrations for the 10th anniversary?? Who's coming back? Nothing has been announced yet, and most of us assume that the 10th anniversary show won't be anything too special anyway. Maybe air balloons dropping from above the stage and former cast members on stage for the final curtain call. Better to keep your expectations low so you won't be disappointed. Tickets aren't on sale anyway.

I'd love them to follow the Billy route with either a Live DVD or like they did their final show, bring back the former Elphie's, Glinda's and Fiyero's and swap them throughout... or just Rachel and Louise will do, whichever works! ... and Marc McBride as Boq, of course!

Not even the 10th anniversary on Broadway was.

Bringing Rachel and Louise will be enough for me... I really don't want anything else.

Bringing Rachel and Louise will be enough for me... I really don't want anything else. I really hope they don't. And no, not even for a 3-month run or even one night only (pun intended). I'm so tired of their constant "recycling" of former performers. There's so much talent out there - give them a chance for crying out loud. I could easily name 10+ ladies each for Elphaba and Glinda - so why can't the producers?

There'll be next to nothing for the 10th. It's an anniversary of a remounting of a production which didn't have a massive celebration for its own 10th on Broadway (except for "greenifying" a tower).
Was it the 5th or 10th anniversary on Broadway which had a read-through of a workshop script? Either way, if that was the limit of what they did over there - London will get balloons, many press releases saying how wonderful the production still is and that's it. It'll cost too much for them to start faffing and bringing back previous performers to alternate through (think of rehearsals for one thing), and it'd miff the current cast no end if they rehired "old hands" for one night/week.

So do we think Emma and Savannah out at cast change, and therefore brand new pair of witches for the 10th anniversary then ? Tickets for 10th anniversary not on sale, so u'd assume something is being planned

They are probably holding back tickets until they know how many famous people/ex-cast members/press/producers/creatives etc... will need tickets before they put out the rest for the fans of the show, assuming fans will be the ones snapping them up fast and not the general public.

I've heard a verified rumour that Stephen Schwartz will be playing The Wizard at the 10th anniversary. They're also going to add in an extra scene after Wonderful and before As Long As You're Mine entitled "Maybe I spoke a little soon, this isn't quite as Wonderful as I had first envisaged". It involves split staging, Glinda is on one side having a Twix and sobbing into a copy of "Oz Digest" whilst Elphaba and Fiyero play a game of Cluedo on the other side. This is all completely true of course, straight from the fourth understudy Midwife. Cher will play Elphaba and begin The Wizard and I with the line "Can you BELIEVE that just happened?"
I'd love Rachel Tucker to be Elphaba as much as the next person, but with the hapless producers in London, it's highly unlikely they'll do anything big for the event.
