Thats quite an impressive breakdown stevej678! I've managed to get about a quarter of the way through the brochure so far - so i'll definitely be taking your suggestions on board. And thanks also for your kind words on Pond Wife! Let me know when you come to see Polaris, i'd love to say hi! (or do i already know you away from the board?) I've got Polaris pencilled in for Saturday 25th August! We don't know each other away from here but I'll hopefully catch you at Pleasance Courtyard (or say hi if I see you flyering on the Mile!).

Would like to go this year but don't know anyone else there. Don't let that put you off - you'll be spending more time seeing shows and you don't need anyone to talk to for that! I'm spending 5 days in Edinburgh on my own and it will be bliss. And if I crave company I'll just start chatting to fellow audience members before and after shows! Convinced me. Train and Accom booked for 8-10th! Edit: An another fantastic spreadsheet taking shape!

I'm seeing 13 the Musical because my friend is in it and I want to support her, and also Shaun Nolan Paper Dolls because he is a YouTuber/blogger that I enjoy.
I live in the Edinburgh area and go into the city nearly every weekend, so I pretty much know the street layout of the city centre. With Edinburgh, you definitely need 3D maps to fully understand the city because of a lot of the city being hilly and streets being high level bridges above low level streets (e.g. South Bridge/Nicolson Street and George IV Bridge are high level streets above the Cowgate and Grassmarket areas.
I'll be there on the 8th and the 9th for shows but will probably get the train into town on other occasions to go to the half-price hut, or catch some free shows or street entertainment.
I'll probably be wearing a Wicked t-shirt (typical of me) and a flannel shirt with jeans because that's like my one look.

So, in the mega-planning stage now. Wondering, does anyone have any experience with 'Peake Productions/Eltham College' shows? Keen to see Assassins, but having just watched some bits by another education outlet (coughNapierUniDramaSoccough) I'm a little hesitant. PS. Heres my overly ambitious spreadsheet of what -in an ideal world- I'd like to take in, v1.

I've booked all the "main" shows I'm seeing.
Thirteen the Musical Company/performer: Captivate Theatre Venue: Gilded Balloon at Rose Theatre, EH2 4AZ Date: 08/08/18, 12:00
Six the Musical Company/performer: Global Musicals Ltd Venue: Underbelly George Square, EH8 9LH Date: 08/08/18, 19:30
Paper Dolls Company/performer: Shaun Nolan Venue: Paradise in The Vault, EH1 2QD Date: 09/08/18, 11:00
I dunno what I'm gonna do for 5 hours between Thirteen (ends at 2.30pm) and Six (starts at 7.30pm). Edinburgh is quite small and I live in the area so can't exactly do touristy things because I've already seen most of the city! I would go shopping but I don't want to haul heavy bags across the city with me. Maybe I could squeeze in another show?
@serial Shusher I just realised I'll be at the same performance of Six as you. (I think?)

Five hours? You could fit three shows in that time...
I've booked 26 over the five days I'm there. No musicals, but some plays, some comedy, some standup, some music performance... I'm sure some will be great, I'm sure some will be crap, but it will be a fun few days...

aingidh you could catch Notflix at 6pm before Six, thats at Guilded Balloon which is about 5mins walk away from where Six is playing. I'm tempted to bin off Six currently in exchange for something else, as its doing the rounds later in the year and coming close to where I live, if I go decide to go I'll say hi!

Other than the bigger, obvious names not much is jumping out currently.

To be honest, I mainly do musicals but I'm a sucker for some good comedy and improv.

If anyone has an early evening slot they're not sure what to do with do give this a try - tickets.edfringe.com/whats-on/eat-me I saw it last year at a one off performance and looking forward to seeing it again. The only problem I have with my time there is the amount of things I#d love to see but just can't make fit in. Why can't Fringe days be 48 hours instead of 24?!

I will be up there doing a full run of my show! Not sure if I can post a link here for it but if youre curious you can send me a dm!
I would really like to tell everyone who loves musical and comedy to go see Mr Swallow. His show two years ago was a hilarious magic musical. Loved it.

Strong recommendation for The Fishermen at the Fringe. Caught it in previews at Home, Manchester last night as I doubt I'll get the opportunity to up in Ed. This appealed to me on the basis of the Man Booker shortlisting of the novel from which this piece has been developed. Set in Nigera it's a great piece of 2-man physical theatre. Really well choreographed and intelligently staged with beautiful lighting, the actors fluidly shift between many different characters to tell the story of 4 brothers affected by an African curse.

I now have 16 shows booked, and a couple of mornings and evenings spare in case something else catches my eye when I'm there!

Those who have done the Fringe before, how risky is it not booking anything mid-week and hoping to bag some HP tickets at the booth on the day?

Those who have done the Fringe before, how risky is it not booking anything mid-week and hoping to bag some HP tickets at the booth on the day? I think midweek should be fine, as Scottish schools go back soon, and the queue has never really been too long in my past experiences. But, to be on the safe side, maybe get there early. Not dayseat early, just before all the madness starts.

I almost never book anything unless I'm really desperate to see it. The app tells you what's available at the booth and if you book everything in advance you miss out on seeing stuff that has a good reviews or that you see a great poster for. Just decide on the day what you want to see

That said, I usually do book in advance despite only being about 30 miles away from the city. I always panic that the shows I want to see will sell out.

I have five or six things booked already, those that are likely to sell out (Traverse/Kitson/shows with limited audience capacity). I’m going to be checking online for word of mouth in the next couple of weeks and the jigsaw will gradually take shape!
