I thought on the back of the NBC Live production OA JCS had announced a US transfer for next year, surely it wouldn't make sense to split resources simultaneously. It already just did a run in Chicago. Prior to a full North Us run fall 2019. Assumedly to test out casting and other feasibility.

There’s NO WAY The Rink would transfer. It will die a death.

I'd assume Arts Theatre or Charing Cross Theatre if The Rink were to transfer, rather than somewhere more traditionally West End.

The Rink has been offered a limited run. Not sure if they will take it yet! They couldn't fill the Savoy for a week, let alone longer. Big theatres do offer though. I did a show at Southwark that was offered a 1000 seat West End house as a show had dropped out and needed something to run a couple of months. We of course turned them down, but West End shows take so much lead time that dark gaps between productions are likely but the theatre owner would prefer them filled.

I do think Mean Girls will go in here eventually but I suspect there will be a filler for some time before it arrives. With a US Tour to mount, I think it will probably be Summer 2019 before we see Mean Girls in London.

Isn't it usually whatever's on at Chichester? So "Me & My Girl" perhaps?

Why did “you/they” turn them down? Southwark really wants to be the next Chocolate Factory with transfers no? I wish it was Carrie or Dogfight! I heard Mean Girls too BTW

It won't happen BUT I would love to see A Spoonful of Sherman transfer. Even for a very short run!

Tt would have opened in town only about a month after shutting at Southwark. Producer wasn't keen on making the same mistake as Spring Awakening and hitting the West End without enough time to build some hype. Also, although we sold out Southwark, we knew selling even a decent number of ticket when we'd have 4x the seats per performance for a much longer run would be very hard. Southwark also has a very different playing space so would require a lot of restaging, as well as casting new company members to create understudies etc. And that's if everyone involved didn't have work in the diary for afterwards (can't remember if people did but certainly been involved in other shows where the company has been availability checked for extension/transfer/tour and then having to replace people.

Isn't it usually whatever's on at Chichester? So "Me & My Girl" perhaps? But what about Omid Djalili in Fiddler on the Roof? Wouldn't Chichester want that in first (as I'm sure there was talk of that coming in)?

Anything that's been on/is about to go on in Chichester is fair game.

I personally guffawed at this but I might as well tell you that I heard Heathers might go in here (keep it in the RUG family). Personally I'd be BEYOND shocked if it went into such a huge house, but everyone loves a good rumour, don't they?

I heard Heathers might go in here (keep it in the RUG family). I'd be shocked as well, as the Savoy is an ATG house. Ha, um, slight mistake on my part... I was thinking of the Adelphi across the road! Now that *is* RUG. Doesn't make the rumour any less outlandish though.

Doesn't make the rumour any less outlandish though. Heathers would never last at the Adelphi. It’s a bit of a barn and I think they’d struggle to fill seats. The current run is sold out but take into account that it’s a 300 seat off-West End venue compared to a 1500 seat venue on the Strand. I heard that Poppins was for the Adelphi anyway.

Yeah, I totally agree, I doubt it'd go anywhere so huge.

It would likely struggle at the Savoy as well. If it transferred to West End-proper it would need to be at a really small house. Wyndhams? Gielgud? Ambassadors? To be honest, can’t really think of a RUG theatre that small off the top of my head other than the Other Palace.

It would probably go somewhere like Trafalgar Studios

I heard that Poppins was for the Adelphi anyway. I was sat on the train coming home last week and across the aisle a cast member from Chicago bumped into someone on 42nd Street (I think cast but could have been band or stage management). The rumour of Poppins came up one of them knew one of the Adelphi managers and so he messaged them and although Poppins was all nailed on to go there it has recently changed and now they didn’t know. Make of that what you will. And to those suggesting Traf Studios, it’s unlikely they’d host a rock musical due to noise bleed into the studio spaces.

I was thinking of the Adelphi across the road! Now that *is* RUG. Half right! The other 50% is owned by Nederlander, who used to own the whole lot until they did a deal involving Sunset Boulevard.
