Come From Away is happening, Dublin cast contracts include London engagement. Not sure if Savoy or elsewhere but there you go. do you know if any of the OBC are transferring with it? I don't believe so, or if if they are I haven't heard about it. Casting has been primarily hunting for Canadians who live in the EU, followed by Irish actors as apparently their accent is easier to transition into the required Canadian parts.

Desperate to see this show and have no passport so can't make Dublin, so will be thrilled to watch it whichever theatre it makes its way to. In my mind it should go to the Phoenix but I think that's just because I'm thinking of Once transferring from Dublin to London.

Come From Away really does need a smaller venue in order to survive in London. Come From Away would be perfect in any venue ranging from the Garrick, Savoy up to the size of the Piccadilly or Shaftsbury. it would do excellent business here in any medium size theatre. I'm surprised nobody has mentioned An Officer and a Gentleman. From day one, the tour has been sold as being 'prior to London', so if not the Savoy, it will probably land somewhere for a while. Surprised this is coming to London, if I remember the reviews were terrible, Mark Shenton was the only one in the audience not to enjoy it, maybe because he had his legs crossed the whole performance.
Also it is common and a very wrong marketing trick to use the slogan 'prior to the West End' Theatre Royal, Bath uses this adage regularly. I wouldn't mind if they brought the promises production to the West End!!
I absolutely cannot see Waitress or Come From Away being in the Savoy, the latter would certainly be a bad fit for this theatre. I've also heard the rumour of Officer and a Gentleman going into the Garrick. Seems a shame the only shows we can think of that would go into theatres are Broadway transfers, wonder when we'll create the next big thing over here 🤔 Waitress would be perfect for the Savoy, just can see it up both sides of the proscenium arch, various home baked tarts and cakes!!!! Would be cool if Sara Barellies came over to do this, easy show to stunt cast. This would also do good business. Considering there has been a bit of a drought for new shows coming over from Broadway except for Hamilton, Fun Home, Young Frankenstein and Motown.
Anyway fingers crossed for all the mentioned shows to come over, the West End deserves some decent musicals from Broadway.

Don't think you need a passport to go from the UK to Ireland, at least until Theresa May sticks in the hard border.

I didn't see an announcement that Dreamgirls are closing on WOS, thought they are a website to report theatre news.

I usually find slipping the Irish customs man a potato and entertaining them with a couple of old Eurovision winners does the trick.

I think it will be mean girls. It could come in January but if not I think maybe just a filler like a tour like hairspray or something? Is Motown closing?

And I am telling you, I didn't see it!!!!!
I check WOS often, as a theatre news source and didn't see it.
So now figured out that not all news stories don't appear on their homepage, it only seems now they put up 'editor picks' a show either opening or closing for me would be major news.

The Rink has been offered a limited run. Not sure if they will take it yet!

Actually most airlines will let you on a plane to Ireland without a passport (you can use other ID) - Ryanair are the only ones who don't.

So @ryan owns his own aeroplane company? Why are we only just learning about this now?
The on board entertainment could be interesting. I assume drinking is allowed?

If the Rink gets a limited run, I doubt it will be at the Savoy. Plus, they will probably want it in for Christmas somewhere to capitalize on the tourist market
I could be wrong but just my thoughts...

Agree totally but they're very keen for a West End run. Ambassadors was pencilled but ATG believe it or not are offering a better deal! I think it won't sell but might make a New York run more likely!

Surprised The Rink is being offered a transfer, although I would have thought the Ambassador Theatre would be pretty much perfect for it. Could see it going into the Pinter, Duke of York or Playhouse not the Savoy.
I wouldn’t rule out the Open Air’s production of Jesus Christ Superstar, which was looking for a transfer.

I could see it going to the Duke of York's after King Lear as that's pretty much the only ATG theatre that's free from November onwards.

I suspect Summer and Smoke will be going to the Duke of York's.

I thought on the back of the NBC Live production OA JCS had announced a US transfer for next year, surely it wouldn't make sense to split resources simultaneously.

It already just did a run in Chicago.

Looking at the recent history of Broadway transfers, it's quite a big spectrum of time for how long it has taken shows to come over ("replica" productions)
No reason Mean Girls can't be one of the faster ones, it's not a huge production really.
Million Dollar Quartet (10 mo) School of Rock (11 mo) The Drowsy Chaperone (1 yr) Once (1 yr, 1 mo) Beautiful (1 yr, 2 mo) Spamalot (1 yr, 7 mo) An American in Paris (1 yr, 11 mo) The Book of Mormon (2 yrs) Spring Awakening (2 yr, 1 mo) (To Hammersmith) Aladdin (2 yrs, 3 mo) Jersey Boys (2 yrs, 4 mo) Kinky Boots (2 yrs, 5 mo) Rock of Ages (2 yes 5 mo) Hamilton (2 yrs, 5 mo) Shrek (2 yrs, 6 mo) Legally Blonde (2 yrs, 8 mo) Motown (2 yrs, 11 mo) Avenue Q (2 yrs, 11 mo) Wicked (2 yrs, 11 mo) Memphis (5 yrs) Hairspray (5 yrs, 2 mo)
