Why didn’t School of Rock open at the London Palladium like it originally was? Because RUG managed to convince Lloyd Webber that it would be a bad idea, given the capacity of the Palladium.

I'm surprised as it's not been doing too badly, it's had a great run and it's ALW most successful Broadway show in a long time. I'm sure it'll done on tour and in schools for a long time. I wonder what's going into the Winter Garden? Maybe Moulin Rouge or Crazy for You?

Dawnstar My recollection from last seeing this in January is that the sound levels aren’t actually too bad (fellow Asperger’s sufferer, hi). I would say that Wicked is probably louder during its ensemble numbers than SoR ever is, and we’ve both seen that lots of times. Also this show has no sudden bangs or jump scares, so you’re less likely to be caught out, it’s more just generally noisy during a couple of songs.

martello736 Thanks, that's encouraging. I don't actually particularly mind sudden loud bangs & suchlike, what I'm dreading is a 2 hour plus non-stop assault on my ears.

I'm the opposite, hence why I spend the second half of act 2 of Bank Robbery on edge because I can never remember when the gunshots are coming I wouldn't say it's any worse than any other musical, even including the kids it's quite a small orchestra so I'd imagine you'd be fine. Just found this on iPlayer, it's a documentary following a couple of the kids in the run up to School of Rock opening in London in 2016. It's made for children's TV but it's still relatively watchable for adults. www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0863xkt/my-life-series-8-2-school-of-rock

Quick q for anyone who may know - dayseating School of Rock - do they accept Theatre Tokens or is it just cash/card because it's on the day?

I always use theatre tokens for dayseats, since I got a big stack as a present once and they are generally useless to me since I book all my tickets online from abroad (where you can't use tokens). Haven't had them refused once yet.

Gary Trainor is joining the American tour as Alternate Dewey so that’s pretty cool!

What has the day seat queue been like for this recently ? More specifically at the weekends ? I have the afternoon free before the final Kinky Boots show and I'm considering seeing this again after a while @theatremonkey

So the show closes on Broadway tomorrow, which I completely forgot about! How is it selling in London? I keep hearing that there are other shows looking at the theatre so I'm intrigued to see how long it will continue in London. It's crazy to think it's already been running over two years!

School of Rock is one of those shows I really enjoyed at the time but subsequently forgot about. If we are to lose another musical in the West End this year then I imagine this being the next one.

Yeh i'm always expecting this one to announce. I've seen it twice and enjoy the show, but both times the theatre wasn't full and both times that was in it's first year and a half.

The £15 TodayTix offer has happened twice now in the last few months, trying to flog tickets before an announcement maybe? That offer is only usually for shows that are strictly limited or have already announced closure

Yeah, this will go next probably.
I've seen it twice and it's good fun, but I'm ready for it to close.

Come through with that transfer My Fair Lady. 🙏🙏 For that, I would be down! (As long as we have a British actress playing Eliza)

I’m seeing it again next Sunday (for apparently my 7th time!) using that TodayTix deal. I’ll let them close it if they tour it (and not just announce a tour, actually have one ready!), surely it wouldn’t be too hard to tour apart from the number of kids. If it’s his show in his theatre makes sense to keep it going while he can. If something else is desperate for that theatre maybe they will make the choice to close easier.

Relatively speaking it's a cheap show to stage, and I can see it running through to the end of summer.

I think it’ll chug along until September 2019 or at a push January 2020. It does depend if anyone wants the Gillian Lynne, ALW might be saving it for his next musical

I missed the TodayTix deal but would like to see this in the next month. I’m flexible on dates. Any thoughts on my beat bet for cheap-er tickets?
