Apparently they had problems with resales so they've adopted Miss Saigon's day seat policy: You only get a confirmation sheet in the morning. Before the show, you have to present this sheet and your ID to get the actual ticket. They told us they'd only hand out the tickets 15min before curtain up but I got mine at 6.55pm - I ended up in A7.

According to their official facebook, the Original Cast of Kids have now graduated, and a new set of Kids are in now. Cool! The kids only did about 5 months in this, that's shorter than most of them do in other shows. I think maybe because they do more shows than the other. In Matilda they get a week off every 3 weeks.

Isn't six months the maximum kids can perform in shows by law? 5 months is only a month less than the norm.

So looking forward to finally seeing this, this weekend! Haven't really been following this thread, but just found they've put a Google 360 virtual tour of the theatre up! uk.schoolofrockthemusical.com/360-tour/

Saw this today. Blimey it was so good! I can ALMOST forgive it for beating Groundhog Day for Best New Musical at the What's On Stage Awards ;-) Still, it was excellent and so much fun. David Fynn was brilliant as was the rest of the adults and kids. I don't go to many rock gigs, but it almost definitely felt like one and had the same energy! {Spoiler - click to view} Not a spoiler for the actual show, but I can't get over the picture of Andrew Lloyd Webber in the programme for the Facts and Figures page!

What are peoples opinions of this possibly getting the Best Musical award at the Olivier Awards ? Most people certainly didn't expect it to win the WOS Award so you never know ( even though that's voted publically).

Most people certainly didn't expect it to win the WOS Award so you never know ( even though that's voted publically). Before yesterday I was right behind Groundhog Day (and still am!) winning everything inc. Best New Musical, but now I've seen School of Rock I think I would be almost as happy if this won. But would be a bit surprised if it turned out the Girls or Dreamgirls won. The one thing I do hope this wins for though is the Outstanding Achievement in Music, not just because it's one of the few without Groundhog Day.

Well. After several abortive attempts to see this show when each time the elusive Mr Fynn was nowhere to be seen I finally managed to align the stars and caught him. And oh my, he's just glorious. He's utterly lovable (and rather foxy even in his knitted tank top) and works amazingly well with the kids. And those kids are just fabulous. Different personalities that all shine through and none of them afflicted by a touch of the Bonnie Langfords. Well perhaps Summer but that's the character more than the actress. They really are a joy to watch.
Love the voiceover from The Lord at the beginning to tell you that the kids play the instruments live. For someone who struggled with the triangle at school, they are amazing. Also a nice touch at the bows when the cast are being introduced, Florence Andrews introduced David Fynn as "The Olivier Award nominated David Fynn" to huge cheers.
I'd have liked one of the gay dads to tone it down a touch (it's like he studied Cam in 'Modern Family' but without any of the subtlety) and it's all about as deep as a puddle but it's a really joyous show and I had a smile on my face for all of it (well apart from the bits where I was necking my wine).
Yeah! Stick It To The Man!

Asked so many times but is there an official schedule for David Fynn yet? Desperate to see him!
Asked at box office last time was there and they said they didn't know, weren't given this info, and if I really wanted to know I would have to ask the company manager!
So secretive....

Don't care much about him, but I'd love to see Rosanna Hyland as Ms Mullins.

Yeah! Stick It To The Man!I'm all for that David F is an absolute cutie isn't he though? Especially in the shorts at the end. Woofety woof! Also (and more importantly) impossibly likeable and talented. I know its not PC to like the gay dads but I thought it was funny. Sorry! I love a bit of camp. Life's too short init. Its a fantastic, escapist couple of hours, but interestingly the people I've recommended it to usually say "I don't like rock". Erm.... me neither!

I've been 3 times now - had Gary twice and Joel once. Thought Joel was the strongest vocally but enjoyed Gary more overall. That said, if Joel had a run of regular shows I think he'd be an absolute knockout. Also caught Rosanna Hyland as Mullins twice... Michael you'll be pleased to hear she was absolutely sublime.

I saw him on a Saturday matinee in January which was a surprise.
Did anyone see him doing You're In The Band on the comic relief dance thingy? The kids were the cast I saw who I thought had left now. The little girl with the pigtails on bass cracks me up.

Has anyone done the Student rush tickets on Wednesdays? What time would you recommend arriving to get one?

Has anyone done the Student rush tickets on Wednesdays? What time would you recommend arriving to get one? The website says that they officially only start selling them from 6:30, so that's when I turned up a few weeks ago. I got a seat without any problems, but I think they were nearly sold out so the guy I spoke to at the box office had to get his manager over to check it was still ok to sell me a student ticket. I'm not sure if they would sell them before 6:30, so I guess it's up to you if you want to get there earlier - likely to be more ticket availability, but I don't know how strict they are about the 6:30 start.

Pleased to say I really enjoyed this on Monday. David was on as Dewey, and I can really see now why people say how energetic that role is. I loved "Where did the Rock Go?" As well as the stand out numbers "You're in the Band" and "Teacher's Pet".
Preeya had some issues with her wig in the first half, it wasn't glued down properly so flapping at the sides...
Working in education as I do it was quite humourous to see the diversity of characters in a typical classroom - there are plants of Summers out there in schools across the UK I'm sure. The parents sitting on tiny chairs was particularly amusing.
It was a fun night out, with an exceptional amount of young talent, and I hope it continues to do well. I imagine that school trips will keep this show going, especially with ALW releasing the rights to schools for free.

So, I am now seeing this tonight, and I suspect wasting 2 and a half hours of my life and £35... but I could be wrong, and I honestly hope I am and the show shocks me.

I know a few others who have gone in only because others have told them they HAVE to (due to them liking it themselves) even though they didn't particularly want to, and have ended up loving it. Let us know what you think
