I don't think David has ever done Saturday matinees. Hopefully we finally get a publicly-announced schedule soon! Just went to the box office. According to the cast list, David's on tonight. It's him. Acting great, vocally average I'm afraid. Preferred Gary over him, and Alex Brightman over both. Edit: I enjoyed the show more than last time and the kids were much better, but still overall prefer the Broadway production. I think there were a few changes since last time (at least one reprise seemed new to me, but I can be wrong). Theatre seemed full.

Really enjoyed this last week - all the leads were on, the kids were amazing. Whoever played Zac is better than any professional guitarist I've ever heard...disappointed by Florence Andrews as Miss Mullins...had heard and really enjoyed Where Did the Rock Go on the CD and hoped that in future they'd cast people even better than Sierra - sadly she cut off half the notes in the song which was disappointing! Will definitely be back soon though - came out with a big smile on my face!

I saw this on Friday. Gary Trainor was on. Loved him in the role and a cracking voice for it. Florence Andrews I enjoyed although she sounded quite hoarse in places - couldn't quite work out if that's her natural voice or whether she was struggling with bits. Liked the kids we had on and very talented with their instruments. Was quite underwhelmed by the singing and while they were good when all singing together there were a lot of bum notes. That really showed up in the bedroom scene in act two.
Was very disappointed with the staging too - the sets felt very simple compared to the clips I've seen of the Broadway version and with such a large proscenium there were moments it looked quite lost. It kind of cheapened the experience a bit. I don't think it helped the book either which dragged a bit whenever the kids weren't on.
Still, a great night and it had some real high points in it - brilliant crowd pleaser finale.
Have since looked online at tickets for some friends and very disappointed to see that the tickets I paid £25 on the back row of the circle are now being sold at £75 for all dates i looked at (and I looked at a good selection of dates). While I enjoyed it from that seat for the price I certainly wouldn't want to pay full whack.

I saw the matinee today - David Fynn was in - and I was pretty unimpressed for the first 35 minutes. Then "You're In The Band" kicked in and suddenly it became a hit show. The rest of the ride was irresistible. Fynn was great as Jack Black - I suppose there's no other way to play the part - and made everything work but I also loved Florence Andrews who sang a gorgeous "Where Did The Rock Go" (the only song that actually sounds like ALW) and filled out an underwritten character beautifully. But the kids are the stars and they were sensational. The full house ate it up, myself included.

That little girl with the ribbons in her hair with that HUGE bass guitar lol she cracked me up. Impossible not to be completely taken by it. Great show. And weren't the kids in the audience immaculately behaved?

Looked at booking online but it is so pricey Buy one of the £25 seats at the outer ends in the Stalls. The view isn't really restricted and you only miss very minor parts.

I was I12 in the Stalls, you do miss bits at the right hand side of the stage but on the other hand it was great for being able to spot stage hands on the left hand side of the stage and also pushing on and taking away the bedroom set.

Alex Tomkins has joined the cast, I assume as a swing, and is playing Mr Wagner tonight.

In other news, Grace Schneider, who is usually one of the ensemble kids, went on in one of the main child roles tonight at the last minute, 'Summer Hathaway'.

Just looked at the seating charts for the extension and the theater looks like all seats have been renumbered. For instance I looked at a date in November and it's totally different from the same seat in this month.
Theatremonkey - any idea why?
thanks for any light you can shed on this

Just to double check: They're still doing dayseats, right? They aren't mentioned on their web site uk.schoolofrockthemusical.com/tickets/ (anymore - I'm pretty sure they were until recently) - that's why I'm asking.

Saw this last night and really enjoyed it.
Such a feel good couple of hours. The kids were amazing ! It was the main kids final night last night, explains the very enthusiastic audience !!! Lots seemed to know this group were leaving.
Not really any catchy memorable songs, but that didn't matter. Spent 2 hours laughing and smailing. Was a Full House last night
