Just spoke to SeeTickets. No dice :-( There's no tickets for sale on press night at the moment. Does anyone know anyone at Really Useful I could possibly speak to? Feel for you on this one, press night can be a bit tricky, but don't know there are over a 1000 reviewers and celebs that will fill all the seats. The theatre box office has a different allocation than See Tickets, as I went up there last week to exchange a ticket that I double booked with something else, they couldn't help me out, as I booked my ticket through See Tickets and the box office assistant said it due to a different allocation. I rung See Tickets who were fine exchanging for a different date, they charged me a small administration fee, which I am fine with. Could be that the press night is allocated to a press night only. So maybe if someone is going next week on here, maybe they could ask at the box office for you? Just out of interest what other shows are you seeing, while you are in London? Maybe possible we could see something in your schedule to accomadate SOR? A polite email could help you out here. Whatever happens I hope it works out well and you see SOR.

I have since tried a message on Facebook, so will see how that goes. My schedule is pretty jam packed so I would have to give something else up unless I am able to pull off the Last Five Years/School of Rock swap. The only one I am a bit half hearted about is the Entertainer, but I have always been a fan of KB and have spent £65 on the ticket, so I'd feel bad giving that up.
Mon 7 Nov - Ragtime Tue 8 Nov - In the Heights (Mat), Bodyguard (Eve) Wed 9 Nov - Lazarus (Mat), The Entertainer (Eve) Thu 10 Nov - School of Rock (Mat Cancelled), Harry Potter Part 1 (Eve) Fri 11 Nov - Murder Ballad (Mat), Harry Potter Part 2 (Eve) Sat 12 Nov - Harry Potter Studio Tour, Michael Ball Alfie Boe Together (Eve) Sun 13 Nov - Notre Dame de Paris (Mat) - Lille, France Mon 14 Nov - Last Five Years

Just was this tonight. Wow! David Fynn is a star, he had such a command of the stage, really stunned by his performance. If he isn't nominated for an Olivier I will be horrified. Will try and get round to posting more thoughts in the next few days.

Do we know yet which two shows each week the alternate Dewey, Gary Trainor does?
Thanks

He did Friday and Saturday matinee this week. I suspect he'll always do a Saturday matinee and one of the shows on a Thursday, which will be the other 2-show day.

I was in on Saturday too and was equally blown away! I had high hopes and was not disappointed. Apart from the cast being awesome, I loved the buzz in the auditorium! It was as if everyone was there for a rock concert and this venue does feel a bit like a stadium. I had quite a side view and didn't miss a thing much to my surprise - we were almost under the band. The kids are so comfortable in their roles already, I hope it has a great run - I'll definitely be back.

Is there a cast board at the New London?
Going tonight - very excited!
Also is there a souvenir brochure yet?

The cast board is a sort of TV screen rather than an actual board.

The cast board is a sort of TV screen rather than an actual board. and very easy to miss unless you know where they are. I asked the merchandise guy where an actual cast list was and was told the electronic screens at the side (of what?). I thought maybe by the doors as we went in as I couldn't see them anywhere but they are on the curved walls towards the bar. I still think they should make more effort - especially when there were understudies on and it will be different kids each night. There is also a printed list at the box office.

As I left the theatre after the first preview I noticed that there was also a cast list up at the box office, right by the doors

Wouldn't be cool if they did the cast list on a blackboard?

I really feel for you on this, where are you flying in from? if you did get press night, it would have been a nice going home present. (I hope you do, be persistent though).

Yes, that is booked and I am meeting up with my brother and his family who are flying in from Ireland. Not something I can change. Thats a shame. All I can suggest then is calling the box office and asking them about the Monday. If they won't sell you a seat directly you may be able to ask them if they are doing day seats that day and you try that by arriving at the theatre early.

I saw this yesterday (Monday) evening. It was Gary Trainor on as Dewey and he was brilliant. The kids were great too and they looked comfortable in their roles. I like how during the battle of the bands scene, the adult band put down their instruments and become part audience proving that the kids really are playing their instruments. I had a side stalls seat, it was such a great way to spend my evening for just under £30!

Very disappointed with this show last night. Some parts are mildly entertaining but some other drag. The first half felt too long. Didn't care in general for the music apart from maybe a couple of songs. The kids were a mixed bag, some very good, some not so much. The leading man was the alternate and he wasn't very good. I guess he needs more rehearsal time.

Watched the performance on The One Show, the kids were AMAZING. Just bloody incredible. Unfortunately, David Fynn seemed devoid of any sort of personality, charisma or character, though many on the board have said that it takes a while to warm to his Dewey, and it seems he also has rather good understudies/alternates too! But certainly made me want to see it, even though I already did!

The kids were very good, but I really don't think this is going to be the show for me.

Just caught up on the One Show. The performance showed off how amazing the kids are but David didn't seem like he wanted to be there. I was really looking forward to seeing him as my friend really enjoyed his performance last week but I think I'd rather see Gary again after that snippet.
