Was there tonight too. Incredibly impressed by quick thinking and improv by cast and band (kids and the pit) when Zach'a guitar didn't work for his big solo (a bar of vamping, Laurence filled in with his solo which usually comes later while crew brought Zack a new guitar, then he did his solo).

Well that definitely proves to the audience that the kids are actually playing. They must have rehearsed what to do if instruments fail as this is something which could happen. It's still probably daunting in front of a packed theatre when something goes wrong and you have to think on your feet.

Thoroughly enjoyed this tonight. Full House and audience completely engaged and rocking out at the end.
I sat in J61 in the Stalls, one of the £15 seats during previews. What a steal! You don't miss anything and I felt so close. The show is played entirely on the lip that extends out of the proscenium arch.
The Kids are stars; especially poor Zach who handled himself brilliantly when his guitar failed; expertly replaced! Between the Lord's pre-show announcement and the obvious fact that the real band get up and watch when the kids are playing, it is very obvious that these kids really are playing and they are little stars! I can't think how they fit 3 teams of kids backstage; it's tiny back there.
Effective use of the revolve. Simple.
David needs to find himself. He can't sing it like Brightman can, which at first I found charming, then irritating. There are actors in the West End who could act it and sing the c**p out of it and I wasn't convinced at his casting at all. Ms Mullins was great though. Her song was actually a highlight for me. Preeya - what a nothing of a part. Didn't she have a song?
I left buzzing. It's a great show and it;s about the kids. I'm sure the critics will love it, and it's got the money behind it's marketing to keep it going for a while!

I think they had a little warning about the guitar - someone ran out on stage to fiddle with the cable shortly before Zach's solo. Still remarkably well handled by all involved though, true professionalism from those kids tonight.
I loved the show, really glad I picked up the ticket when the £15 ones were mentioned here. I really hope Joel gets some dates as Dewey - having seen him in both Funny Girl and Rocky Horror I can picture him making a great Dewey.
Oh, and I didn't hear any mention of Donny Osmond. The Trump line was definitely there, as well as one about how if Summer ran for president next month he'd vote for her.

I'll be interested if they change the line after 8th November when (hopefully) Summer can't be the first female President.

Let's hope so! The kids are incredibly talented and I like the fact that the band get up so it's obvious that the kids are playing on their own, as otherwise I'm sure they'd get a lot of naysayers and nonbelievers! (The line about him voting for her is in the script, not an improv, and in the movie too I think?)

Good news for those with side seats. Aside from already mentioned here, official feedback from the very ends of rows H and K are that all you miss is a joke being chalked on a board. Even the bit they thought everyone would miss is now visible. Happily surprised with how little I missed!

Begin to think now that I paid too much for my seat and that I should have aimed for a £15 ticket. But too late now and tbh, though I spent ages agonising over dates and locations (and then ended up with a day on which Southern Rail have yet another strike, aaargh), I can't now recall whether that was even an option.

Fair point, theatremonkey, though in this case I struggled, even with your usual invaluable assistance, to identify just which seat(s) I did want! Still, not as bad as the situation I've faced infuriatingly often at the Park Theatre, whereby I've been lured into booking ahead, only for them to discount productions nearer the opening date. Been bitten too often now and am therefore reluctant to book anything there other than at short notice.

I hate it when discounts pop up for something I've paid more for than I really wanted to. I just have to remind myself that I was willing to pay that much when I booked the ticket, and I could afford to pay that much when I booked the ticket, so it's obviously worth that much to me to see the show, and not to worry too much about the discounts I could've had but didn't.

Slightly offtopic: Same for me, especially with air fares. I've made it a habit now to not check the price anymore after I've booked my flights.

Gary Trainor is on as Dewey tonight and he is excellent. Few sound issues but this is a great show.

I've just had an email from See Tickets telling me that the matinee preview performance I've booked on Thursday 10 November has been cancelled :-( I had a great seat in the middle of E row too. I have no free slots left in my 8 day trip to London unless I were to cancel something else. I'm already giving up Amadeus so I can fit in Ragtime. Sigh, the perils of booking so far in advance. First Phantom in Paris and now this! :-(

Oh strange. I booked for the same show but haven't had an e-mail yet. Actually quite relieved because I booked and then got offered a free ticket for another date.
Can you copy and paste what the e-mail said please?

What do you think my chances are of swapping my cancelled ticket for an Opening Night ticket on Monday 14 November? I have Last Five Years booked for that night and they do have a Thursday matinee that I could exchange for. Would have to pay £20 more for a ticket for that performance though....

Just spoke to SeeTickets. No dice :-( There's no tickets for sale on press night at the moment. Does anyone know anyone at Really Useful I could possibly speak to?

Went to the matinee today, chock full of families. I loved it and thought it was in great shape. Positive buzz on leaving. Might not have the spectacle of Aladdin but it will be fighting it for the family option.

Just got back from the matinee as well and loved it! Was very happy with my £15 seat and had a great view.
Gary Trainor was on again and I thought he played the character really well. His voice got better as the show went on but he's not quite up there with Alex for me. Rosanna Hyland was on as Miss Mullins and I thought her voice was much more suited to the part than Sierra's was.
The kids are the real stars of the show and they were incredible! I like that the band all watch them when they're playing near the end, just as proof they're really playing. They all look in awe at them and its nice to see them clapping them on.
People during the interval and on the way out everyone seemed pretty positive about it so hopefully this ones here to stay for a bit!
