Oh. I hope the cast don't feel too Loewe about it.

A mixed bag but wonderful to have a full orchestra and the sound was very good. Largely well sung by legitimate voices with one or two exceptions but the absolute standout was Christine Andreas who provided a much needed masterclass in how to deliver a song in three minutes - pure class. Some familiar performers to many on this board but new to me in person were very underwhelming. David Bedella in excellent voice. A luverly evening.

I was there and it was glorious. The orchestra was incredible, and the huge array of singers was just the icing on the cake. Agree that Christine Andreas was the standout - why have I never heard of her before? Simply stunning. But lots of other wonderful performances too, and both the familiar and unfamiliar material was brilliant. Looking forward to hearing it again when it’s on the radio.

She was here at the Aldwych in THE FIELDS OF AMBROSIA (anyone? ) was an acclaimed Eliza in MFL on Broadway and did a stint in LA CAGE...... Check out her guest appearance on Elaine's TV show from a few years ago where she slays "The Music That Makes Me Dance". A hugely underused talent.

I had to check it was the same Christine Andreas.... I just can't get used to her vibrato. To me its very harsh, like a bleating sheep!
Ah, The Fields of Ambrosia, where everybody knows ya. What a mess. But I love a flop show and that ticked all the boxes. What other musical has a big number after a male rape??
