Know there was a special atmosphere due to Zackary James last show but as others have said the current show is electric on Sunday and seems to have become stronger since I saw it back in May. Amazing how fluid and powerful the performances have become since they constantly seem to have the understudies and swings in parts but you certainly wouldn't guess with the cohesion this cast played.
Bella Brown and Dylan Wood made the instant connection believable and moving. Again the workers and fates gave as strong performance as the leads. It really is a show you can watch anyone on stage and be immersed in their story.
Will be interesting to hear the feedback when the first board members see Trevor and Rachel. I am sure Trevor will be good but will we get the genie mark 2 for his hades or hopefully he does surprise and give a different slant.
Caught the show again to hear and see Zackary since who knows when he will be back for a west end run, but came away with a much more positive view of the show than first viewing and am fairly sure will be back again.

Saw Trevor and Rachel’s first show tonight. I can see the vision with Rachel and whilst a very different take to Gloria, I enjoyed her performance and think she’ll be great once she’s settled in. Unfortunately I can’t say the same for Trevor, whose casting is still extremely baffling to me. He can’t sing the score, minimal acting and there was no intimidating presence at all. I was hoping to be surprised, but instead will be looking forward to seeing Chris Short again

It was always going to be hard for the four principals coming in to this show. Grace, Donal, Zachary and Gloria were all SO good at their parts that I see them as THE Eurydice, Orpheus, Hades and Persephone. More so than the Broadway casts, these four were magic.
However, I was excited by the new casting, having seen them all before, with the exception of Dylan. He sings beautifully, but given how much I loved Donal's Orpheus, I still think he has a little to go to get the character right. Fully prepared to accept that I'm probably biased towards Donal though.
Madison Charlemagne taking over from Grace is tough. I love Grace's voice and it's hard to imagine anyone eclipsing her portrayal of Eurydice. However, Madison comes close! I found her second half in particular to be excellent. Lots of range in her vocals, nothing felt forced or difficult, her acting is excellent. Showing signs of making the character her own already. Small things like how she struts after Orpheus on the road back, giving us confidence while he lets the doubt creep in.
Rachel takes, for me, the correct route of an entirely different take on Persephone. Her voice was never going to be a problem as she is supremely talented, but she changes the character enough to avoid direct comparison with Gloria and shows confidence in everything, and manages to make the relationship with Hades believable, realistic and engaging.
The casting I was most excited about was how on Earth Trevor Dion Nicholas would follow Zachary as Hades. I was delighted by it! I felt that he was all in on the part, the right amount of nuance to a character who can easily cross the line towards pantomime villain. I went for second row as I really wanted to be up close and personal, particularly to see how he'd work after such a physical performer as Zachary. I love where he's going with the character, who is one of my favourites in musical theatre, and his voice remains one of the very best anywhere on the West End.
The show is still fantastic, so much to enjoy, so layered, so repeat watchable, I'll be back again before the month is out! I just cannot get enough Hadestown.

Is the Persephone choreo the same as Amber Gray during Way Down Hadestown? She was so amazing in that number that I wasn’t sure if it was unique only to her.
