Was there yesterday for the farewell to Grace and Donal as Eurydice and Orpheus and it was absolutely superb.
I already love the show, so I was going in expecting the best, and was richly rewarded. Had the feel of a 'closing night' with every cast member on their absolute best form. Audience was very much on fire, with friends, family and a few of us regular visitors in great voice.
Some lovely words from Melanie La Barrie at the end to wish the pair all the best in their next moves, as well as welcoming the new additions to the cast.
Very excited for the cast recording as I personally enjoy the West End cast more than the Broadway cast.
I will give the new cast members a few weeks to get bedded in and I shall be back to enjoy their takes on the characters.

Definitely think this will be a live cast recording rather than a studio one and very much to preserve the OLC.
Feels way too sudden and unplanned to suddenly drop this news on the day or two before the leads are leaving!
I'd also much rather a live cast recording in this case too as I really don't like how cold the OBC cast recording feels, a side effect of it being produced the way it is.

I saw the new leads in 29 August and Dylan's Orpheus is just so good that I bought the rush ticket for 30 August again(Another reason is I wanted to see Zachary's Hades but unluckily I heard that he was off due to knee injury?). I hesitated to book this because all my friends who went to see this told me that Donal is not quite a good singer and I really don't like Grace in Sunset. So I am glad that I had the chance to see the new leads. Compared with Donal's acting in the Olivier Awards, I would say Dylan's Orpheus is the manifestation of "He is naive to the world", a perfect balance of innocence and passion. And his interaction with Madeline's Eurydice is great, both in acting and singing. It's amazing to think the fact that it's just their first week.

I've also booked to see how the new leads do, either next weekend or weekend after, must check. I'm at a place where I just can't get enough Hadestown!

Dylan’s high notes brought a tear to my eye multiple times; the most astounding voice. This show is such a masterpiece

Saw the show for the 2nd time tonight. Fell in love with the score after the first time so appreciated the show a lot more this time as I could relax and enjoy it, knowing what is going on.
It was a 3rd cover Hermes debut today, Winny Herbert, and I thought he did a really good job. He definitely grew into the character as the show went on, but he was solid.
I also enjoyed Persephone this time, and she may have been my least favourite character the first time. I think a big part of that was because her talent and experience in the role stood out from the rest…
We had the first cover Hades, and although his act 2 was better than his first I just didn’t think he was right at all. He’s far too young looking and doesn’t have that dominance or is able to inject any fear.
I thought Eurydice was very very bad, borderline awful. She cannot reach the notes in the songs at all and is quite wooden. I can’t believe they promoted her, they should have cast someone much better.
Orpheus was okay, I think I might have preferred the previous, which is funny because I didn’t like him too much too. I think I just have an issue with this character in general, to be honest. I thought this new guy looked a lot older than Eurydice actually, I just didn’t get any sense of connection.
Glad I saw it again, but definitely won’t be in a rush back. This is a show I prefer to listen to.

I have to say, my third time seeing the show tonight for me. What a privilege to see Winny's Hermes debut; and weren't they fantastic! I disagree with Matt about Chris, I loved his Hades. I felt he came into his own during Songbird. I agree that Madeline (Eurydice) definitely has rough patches

Just over a week ago saw the debut of Dylan Wood as Orpheus. He is a good mix of both Donal and Simons performances, taking the best from both and making it his own "Aye". He also has the strongest Orpheus vocal in this production so far, his voice is so unique! Didn't at all feel like a West End debut, wonderful to see him after seeing the Scottish tour of "Orphans".
He also has amazing chemistry with Madeline, recently promoted from fate and covering Eurydice. Sure, she's not Grace but she really holds her own and I can only imagine she's going to continue to grow in the role. She's really gotta control the "shelter us, harbour me" line. That was rough..
Mel continues to be the perfect Hermes. The amount of heart she displays on that stage is stunning.
This show is incredible shape and I hope it runs and runs for years.

Interesting news for citytrippers: There'll be an English-language production in Amsterdam in summer 2025. Casting will be a mix of British and Dutch performers with auditions in both London and the Netherlands.

How often do they do further drops of TodayTix rush tickets? I’m trying to fill my empty matinee slot for today!

Any idea why this show is so expensive? I'm vaguely interested in it, but it's not like it's got a star name (or big sets?)

It's been on my radar for ages as concept sounds interesting and I have friends who are passionate about it. But I didn't really get on with the cast recording so have not bitten the bullet. Like you I await cheaper pricing (which I think will happen in due course). Doesn't help that I really got to dislike the sight-lines from aisle seats in that theatre when Aspects of Love was there. In fact it's a very dingy theatre generally (though that might be more appropriate to it's current inhabitant!)

The same article is also in a bigger newspaper but that's behind a paywall. Doesn't say, but I'm assuming it will be replica!

Any idea why this show is so expensive? I'm vaguely interested in it, but it's not like it's got a star name (or big sets?) If it helps the set gets bigger about half way through... It's got a better set and more technical elements than Hamilton. "Star" casting would be a mistake. For the love of God please don't just shove someone like Jason Donnavon as Hermes, I'd rather talent! In all seriousness, ticket prices go down dynamically gradually during the week and a bunch the day before/on the day. Plus TodayTix Rush is very good.

'star' casting isn't a mistake though, as has been seen by the incredible people who come through the Broadway production (and I mean star not stunt)
It would need some star casting to make me go back to this.
Like, get Sharon as Hermes and I'm there.

Broadway has cast really interesting people in these roles - like to go from Andre to Lillias was INSPIRED, and then to Jon-Jon and now Stephanie Mills? Like these are smart, interesting choices.
I hope they do that here, but I won't hold my breath.

Way way back, many centuries ago, not long after the Bible began, Orpheus was a poor boy... but he had a song to sing!
