Trevor is quite literally a tenor… this is strange. Honestly the one downside of this casting is Trevor but I will sit through him for Rachel Persephone!

Both entirely miscast but I never miss Tucker in anything so can't wait to see it 😂 In fairness, every single person in the original cast was miscast apart from Gloria so at least they're sticking to their guns 😂 I think you forgot about the presence of one Melanie La Barrie here... Also Dylan Wood Orpheus is outstanding. I absolutely don't forget about Mel sorry...

First lot in the West End - the NT cast was literal perfection to me (I know some people didnt like Reeve but I was on board)

I am both intrigued and slightly puzzled by this casting...
Don't get me wrong, I think they're both very talented and experienced performers, and I will want to see them in action at some point during their run. Yet, while I think Rachel will positively surprise people, because she is a really good singer and actress, and I feel she can bring the right energy to Persephone, I am a bit perplexed by Trevor stepping into Hades' shoes.
I have always seen him in roles that require a tenor range, or at the "lowest" a baritenor range, and Hades really should have richer, lower tones to properly counter Orpheus' light mix and falsetto... Having said this, I will be happy to be surprised by his (so far rather well hidden) bass range, if he can achieve that.

Feels like it's been cast by picking balls from a hat, however.. it might work?

Nicholas is a good actor with a voice like honey so there’s nothing to worry about there, but he is indeed a rather soulful tenor not the deep down bass of Patrick Page etc that this requires. It just dilutes the vision a touch.

How is the current Orpheus (Dylan Wood) settling in? I've been wanting to return to the show but really didn't like Dónal Finn's interpretation and vocals. I know he wasn't to a lot of peoples tastes but I loved Reeve Carney and have really fond memories of the original NT production.

His acting is more subtle than Donal's but I think he's my favourite orpheus I've ever seen.

I saw him a few weeks ago and he reminded me of Reeve a bit though I can’t put my finger on what it was about his interpretation as their vocals aren’t similar at all. I think Dylan is already a strong Orpheus, worth a visit.

For me, the role of Eurydice is harder to cast/get right.

Some thoughts from recent visits...
Melanie La Barrie as Hermes: Wow. It is just incredible how she mesmerises the entire theatre from the moment she appears on stage. It was worth every pound just to see her.
Bella Brown as Eurydice: I hadn't kept up with casting news so I assumed she was the new Eurydice, but apparently not. She has such a lovely full voice and struck a good balance between the toughness needed to survive and the vulnerability within.
Dylan Wood as Orpheus: I feel like my ideal Orpheus would have the ability to sound more effortlessly ethereal on those "la"s, but he absolutely won me over - his naivety was charming rather than annoying.
Gloria Onitiri as Persephone: Absolutely heartbreaking without having to say a word near the end.
Zachary James as Hades: The way his voice seems to penetrate your bones is quite the experience. He's leaving enormous shoes to fill.
I was actually a bit hesitant about seeing this again as I only went once during the previews, during which some people sounded rather ragged, but I think another poster gave context that they would have been rehearsing frantically in between performances, so now I do wish I could have come back once the original cast got settled in. Either way, I'm determined to make at least one more visit before I leave London.

Saw this tonight and Melanie La Barrie and Zachary James were absolutely outstanding. Found out after the show that Zachary would be Hades until tomorrow only, so I felt incredibly lucky getting to experience the show in this version as I am not particularly impressed by who they've recast.
Looking forward to the cast recording being released

Speaking of the cast recording, I do find it odd that they've announced it 2 months ago with no updates since. I hope it's not a Death Note situation where they announced an album and it never came out.

They're still mentioning it in their email newsletters, it was included in the Rachel & Trevor email on 2 Oct. They refuse to say anything substantial, though, just "it's coming".

Death Note album was waiting for a remount of the production, but I believe that all fell through after YLIA debacle? Death Note's no stranger to unreleased cast recordings, the original English concept album never released but has been leaked over the years. I feel it'd come out eventually.
For Hadestown I'd heard Xmas as well... would be a great time to release.
