Credit where due, I bet it had a great closing night audience. It does have a fanbase so they must of gone wild. Their supposed fanbase doesn't seem to be active on this forum

I am a belated fan but can absolutely see its faults. I won't predict the response of tonight's audience.
This show is definitely on my list* though!
*My list is the list of shows which I will produce when I win big on the Euromillions.

Their supposed fanbase doesn't seem to be active on this forum Because most of the people on here can appreciate what it is... a nice enough night in the theatre but you will forget about it in a years time.

I was at the final show this evening. I do really love the show, and it was my third time, so not particularly objective about tonight. It was an emotional one. The cast, specifically Jamal Andréas, were very emotional and crying towards the end (impacted vocals a little, but that's forgiven for me!). Gurinder came on before and after the show, and Howard Goodall at the end. Guru see face a heartfelt speech about "People Like Us" song meaning something and her family and dad being the inspiration for the show and that song and philosophy. She felt "People Like Us" can't have shows in the west end (as easily) and that there have been many requests for the show regionally and internationally, so is intending on travelling the show. I for one think it's a real shame this has left the west end now. I know many on here disagree, but I think it was a little gem and I also love playing the score on my piano too. It was a shame Preeya wasn't on as her replacement didn't quite have the comic timing and attitude she did, but still good. Really engaged and responsive audience full of creatives too.

Now it's finished. How did they do that air ball? Weighted wire Thanks, you definitely can't see the wire.

Thanks, you definitely can't see the wire. It's set up during a scene change which presumably distracts most of the audience And it's a very thin indeed

Okay suspected it maybe a wire the last time I saw it, as you see a specific ball being placed in a scene change. But it is very subtle done.

Had to double check this thread to make sure it had closed as Michael Ball said on the One Show last night that he was going to see this next week.

That's one of those recurring dreams/nightmares we all have surely? You know, the one where you stage a West End musical in your front room, and you look out into the audience only to find it consists entirely of Michael Ball.

i miss the old BILB thread...it was seriously entertaining! Glad we don't have to talk about this drivel anymore though--good riddance. Saw Guys and Dolls Friday night and thought it was ok at best. The Phoenix has another bomb on its hands!

#Curseofthephoenix. We could get it trending! This theatre has struggled ever since Blood Brothers left town.

Be interesting to see if G&D extends or if The Girls goes there and flops or does well. What a bizarre comment. You're asking if a show that may or may not be going to a theatre will flop already?

Not sure how much they empathise with the concerns of North East shipbuilders either?!
