Curated by Robert Smith: Meltdown There are apparently more events coming but I'm a bit surprised that no film or theatre events have been announced so far. Anyone else on here going, or planning to go to any of these shows? Members tickets went on sale this morning, I've got tickets for Manic Street Preachers and Mogwai but Nine Inch Nails had sold out by the time I got to log in, My Bloody Valentine didn't have any decent seats left and I draw the line at paying £65 to see Placebo or The Libertines. The queueing system was a shambles to be honest, 20 minutes after tickets were supposed to go on sale and the queue hadn't started moving, it then said we were moving before stopping for what seemed like an age after an hour or so before restarting - they need to stagger sales in future so you don't get an immense horde of people all trying at the same time to get tickets. |

Queuing alwas seems to be a shambles (same back end system as Barbican, Young Vic and Somerset House?) but I managed to get Mogwai on members sale and NIN this morning.
Cursing them putting on Mogwai at the same time as Kristin Hersh and dreading the bunfight for tickets following the inevitable Cure announcement in April..

I also got NIN this morning, and thats probably going to be it, but I've already booked for the Cure in Hyde Park in July so won't be too disappointed if I can't get tickets for them at the RFH.

I've got Hyde Park too - I think that's almost certainly going to be a greatest hits affair. The prospect of something unique for the RFH is just too tasty to say no to - their smaller venue shows have been spectacular in recent years  |

Well it’s the Southbank Centre, not the ICA: they’re not likely to book FKA Twigs, MC Uncle Tom Cobley and the Peruvian Marching Band Of Old Lima Town on the offchance of appearing cutting edge.

Website was a shambles this morning, crashed half a dozen times on the stroke of 10 before sticking me behind 1,400 people in a queue: I didn't want to pay £45 for balcony (all that was left) for the Cureation show so booked to see Loop the weekend before instead, so will be seeing over the course of the festival:
Loop
Manic Street Preachers
Mogwai
Nine Inch Nails
and will be leaving it at that.

I was so tempted with Loop - loved Gilded Eternity and didn't even know Loop were still a thing until this week. Kristin Hersh was another that I just couldn't justify so have drawn the line at Placebo, Mogwai, NIN & The Cure.
I hate the queuing system, it always seems to work better when you have the actual ticket link rather than the 'event page' though. And 5 devices.

We're going to see Suzanne Vega. I really like the venue for concerts having seen Marianne Faithful, Liza Minnelli, Randy Newman, Chrissie Hynde, Christy Moore, kd lang, the Human League and others there on previous occasions.

A bit underwhelmed by NIN - don’t know if it was sitting in the rear stalls or the pissed up singing along and whooping whenever Trent Reznor sat down (or then stood up) that did it for me but it just never really took off for me.

Mogwai surpassed all levels of excellence tonight: My Father My King was awesome beyond words 😎 Yeah, that was brutal. Thoroughly enjoyed Mogwai. Thought NIN were decent but I get a retro Fragile or Spiral setlist every time I see them so never see thw new stuff  Mogwai were sat in the front row for NIN and were the only people I could see who didnt bother standing. The Cure were great tonight |

Nile Rodgers announced as the curator of this years Meltdown, I'm not exact;y excited about this but will wait to see who is playing (apart from the surely playing Chic who I'm not particularly bothered about seeing)

I managed to miss this thread last year. As someone said, it's kind of nice to see fans of NIN, Mogwai, MBV etc on here, albeit just 2 or 3. I admit I've generally assumed people's music tastes here consist of showtunes and nothing else. But I suppose there aren't usually music threads on here, at least not that I notice.
All the same is it too much to hope anyone's willing to discuss School of Seven Bells, Goldfrapp, St Vincent, Magazine and King Crimson?!
While Rodgers and Chic weren't really my thing I admire them and it'll be interesting to see his selection.

Who knows, maybe even Daft Punk? (although I doubt it) - I saw them in Hyde Park 11 or 12 years ago and the whole thing was spoilt by the masses of p***ed up Neds in attendance.
