I'm more excited to see Seth Rudetsky, although I like a bit of Barrowman too.

As it's Barrowman the best answer is probably 'the biggest bit' [his ego then] (I jest...sorta. Love ya Barrowman.) A friend of mine has an excellent picture, where in response to the question 'John can we take a picture to make my boyfriend jealous' Barrowman replied 'Wanna make him really jealous?' and thus there was a picture of Barrowman grabbing the friend's crotch. Like ya do.

Barrowman's fans are scary. I was almost bitch slapped with an HRT patch by one of them for once daring to suggest that Simon Burke was better in 'La Cage Aux Folles'.

Also Burke was better. And also a Silver Foxy Fox. Oh he was. He also seems like he could be delightfully filthy.

Can he still sing?

He could the last time I saw him which was I guess maybe 5 years ago? I doubt he's 'lost it'- he's relatively young and all haha! He's a fabulous entertainer and in some ways better suited to this kind of thing than an actual musical role.

I was obsessed with him back in '94 when I first saw him Sunset. I was able to tolerate him for some more years but yeah..don't think I can do it anymore. He's quite a showman,I'll give him that.

I went last night. Nice mix of chat and music with a surprise guest appearance by Anita Louise Combe.
As a Scot the highlight for me was his emotional version of The Bonnie Banks o' Loch Lomand.

At a convention yesterday John Barrowman mentioned during his performance (less of a typical convention panel, his thing is part-stand up comedy, part singing session) that they were looking at taking this show with Seth Rudetsky on tour to venues with 500-800 seats so it’d be a little more intimate. It sounds like a fun show, storytelling and singing through his career.

Support by The Krankies?

Surely not. hasn't Janette Krankie just been cast in the lead role of The Tommy Robinson Story: Silenced! beating off what I understand was stiff competition from Danny DeVito and a discarded hat stand. Rumours cite the uncanny resemblance being the clincher

I went last night to the Savoy (I do love that theatre, all the Art Deco is so pretty) ....
Band of 7 on that small stage - they've definitely planned the stage for the larger venues! Sold out show with queues to get in, never seen the like, all the way past Pret (where I was having coffee) on the Strand, guess the doors opened very late. Very much female audience and "of an age" (ie, my peer group). Screen at the back of the stage for a huge range of family and friends photos (yes, the Krankies in there).
The song collection was very "pop", and, for me, ultimately forgettable. I was wishing for some show tunes, JB finished the first act with "Don't Rain On My Parade". Second act he had his parents up on stage and his Mum only blooming sang! Bless her cottons - she looked amazing, sang brilliantly and got a standing o. Lots of banter. JB also had his husband Scott up on stage to sing - made the indulgent fans very happy. 3 costume changes (itchy suit which caused humour, black under a sparkle jacket, what he himself referred to as "tat" rainbow sequin tee). Bought on stage 2 outfits he has worn to ComicCon conventions.
As I said, I found the song choice, although beautifully performed and with excellent voice, ultimately forgettable. Something written by Gary Barlow, Barry Manilow's "Through the Rain", of course the finish was "I Am What I Am". The best parts of the show were JB talking and engaging with the audience, about his love for Scott, their dogs, their families. Of course his time in the Australian Jungle in Celebrity Get Me Out of Here. Very endearing guy.

Barrowman is like an old school variety act mixed with the kind of cabaret acts we used to see at Park Hall near Chorley or in the Blackpool clubs or on the piers.Tony Christie,Joe Longthorne,Frankie Vaughan,Des O’Connor and others come to mind.Jane McDonald comes from the same lineage.Great entertainers can sing and talk and crack jokes and make the audience feel like they are almost like family.

^ Did he do "The Doctor And I"? Yes! I'm not one of the fans that would have known that but it got a lot of appreciative sighs from audience. Accompanied by some superb photos on the screen behind. JB is very handsome.

With the extra bit of Hollywood glam. Colleagues know him from the very popular Arrow series. I saw him in Anything Goes many many years ago and was charmed by him. Now he's more telly.
