If you're into hiking, there's a trail around the Taronga Zoo that's not particularly difficult, and will give you some nice views and lizard-spotting!

@eldermillan That's a great list, you will have a fab trip! Easyjet is not even cheap anymore if we want to check in a bag, the price for that has really gone up. I often now find them more expensive than regular airlines who have dropped their prices over the years. Ironic. @theatremonkey I didn't know any of that, that's all very interesting. 👍 sherriebythesea Wow, you have an amazing trip planned! That's really impressive that you are seeing so many shows. I get tired after just a week. 😆 I hope you enjoy everything and have a wonderful trip. In December I will be flying into London City, that will be my first time experiencing that airport. The plan is to take the DLR to Bank station and then a bus to the centre. I hope that's as easy as it sounds, with luggage. Then I'm waiting for Black Friday to reserve my hotel with a discount. I have booked 2 more shows now: The Band and Tina. Still have a night free and that will probably be Kinky Boots. |

If you do use DLR, remember that there are no ticket gates, but you still need to touch in and out on the yellow pads that are on islands scattered around as you board and leave the stations. Depending where in the centre you are going, it might be easier to switch to the Central line at Bank than take a bus. |

Last time I took many buses and only afterwards did I realize my fares were capped at £4,50 a day. That was a nice surprise. Anyway if the weather is very bad I might take a car but I want to learn this route from LCY with public transport.
I appreciate the concern for me with luggage on stairs. 😅 I will have a medium sized suitcase of max 15 kilo's, which is manageable but definitely prefer less lifting. I'm going to book the Strand Palace again and buses go from Bank to right in front of the hotel so that seems perfect.

Alright maybe not preferable in the colder months, but I've found it a much more preferable way to travel London, whilst quite scary at time (buses!) I've found Taxi's surprisingly accommodating on the road. |

That's a great tip, I had no idea the bikes were only £2! 👍 I would consider it in nice weather but would probably just stay in the parks and uncrowded area's. London traffic is indeed scary. 2 weeks from today and I start my second London adventure. 23 nights. I'll arrive Saturday morning and then it's off and running. I won't have the knee pain I had on my visit last year because I have NEW knees! And I plan on getting my moneys worth out of them. I have tickets to: Macbeth (RSC) The Trench (Southwark) A Very, Very, Very Dark Matter (The Bridge) You and I (Hampstead) Hamilton Company Something About Jamie King Lear Hadestown The Height of the Storm Bat out of Hell 42nd Street Romeo & Juliet (RSCbbn) Pack of Lies The Inheritance (pts 1 & 2) Summer and Smoke War Horse Tina-The Musical Madness of King George (Nottingham) The Funeral Director (Southwark) Don Quixote Measure for Measure And I still have a few spots open that I can book something on the spur. And room to do my sight seeing. Also spending 2 days in York. The past year has been spent making the plans and getting the tickets. The planning made my knee surgery recovery go so much better. I've been so busy with work that I'm just now starting to breath a bit and the excitement has hit. Can't wait to be able to post on the "what I'm seeing this week" thread |

You are amazing and I recently did a 24 day 35 show visit. Most of the time I get tickets when in London, except with National shows and Royal Court. Tickets in advance like you did are possible,but I hope you got some good discounts. I live in N.Y.C. and travel to London twice a year lately.

Thanks to this forum I got some very nice discounts. This will only be my 2nd trip to London / UK and have fallen in love with it. I live in Rhode Island so only 3 hours from NYC but it is so expensive, money and time wise, just to see matinee on Broadway. I’ve lived here 5 years and have only seen 2 shows there. We get the touring companies in Providence and most of the productions are great |

It takes ages to get from one to another place around bank. Also very often in that area the buses have to take unforseen detours. |

My mother wants us to go on a cruise next year that calls at 2 ports in Morocco. I'm petrified at the thought of visiting Africa. Looking up the Foreign Office travel information & the NHS vaccination requirements is not very reassuring.

I wouldn't want to go there alone, but in a group it is fine. Great shopping, delicious food and some beautiful architectural sites. Which ports would you be calling at? |

Agadir and Casablanca, with an optional trip to Marrakech from the latter. I think we'd go on group trips rather than go round ourselves, especially as the Foreign Office advice sounds like it's not necessarily safe for women on their own. However I'm mostly worried about the likelihood of picking up any diseases, especially of the D&V variety as I'm phobic about being sick.

Antiseptic hand gel is essential to take with you to places where you’re concerned about hygiene , don’t forget to use it after handling money , especially paper money (I’m told that’s a good source of infection). Not just on land either, you’ve as much chance of catching something on a ship as on land . cruise ships often provide hand gel to use on the way into and out of food outlets. I was amazed how many people just walked past them despite staff bring posted on the way in to restaurants to encourage their use, also how many people fail to wash their hands after using the bathroom , so lots of hand gel for the cruise as well and you’ll be fine . |

bimse Yes, I've been on several European cruises before & I use the hand gel dispensers like mad. It infuriates me when I see other passengers not using them. In terms of handling money in Morocco, I always wear gloves when out and about, due to my OCD, so I'm hoping that will be okay, but I will also be taking loads of hand gel & wet wipes with me. I'm worrying about it already & the cruise isn't till next November!

Woohoo, survived Bank station this afternoon! That place is sketchy. Love LCY though, was out of the airport in no time. How nice was the weather today! Loving being back in London. 😊
