I’m off to New Orleans for two days next month with work. Any must sees? Well there's t'internet search function or my 40 year old memories. 2 days should be enough. The French Quarter is smaller than a European might expect a tourist area to be. If you love music then:- Preservation Hall to hear how Jazz sounded when it was born - although these days its probably grandkids of the originators playing. We also took a tram trip to the end of the line to Tippetina’s a funky club owned by The Meters. Trouble is our guide book didn’t say it was closed on a Monday! (Just reminiscing really, I’m now off to see if either of those are still going.) Enjoy your trip. |

Going for a week in Hollywood in less than a fortnight - I'm seeing Phoenix at the Fonda Theatre on the first night I'm there but haven't seen anything theatre wise that captures the eye - anyone got any suggestions as to theatres to check out (in the central Los Angeles area)?. I'm staying on Hollywood Boulevard and as far as I can see, all that is along there is the Pantages, they've got Beautiful on while I'm there, which isn't really my cup of tea. Hollywood Blvd. is dirty and tacky. You'll have plenty of costumed characters to spend time running away from. |

You're going to spend some time on Hollywood Boulevard just walking to Musso & Frank's for which I would switch the dinner to a lunch if I were you. After that you can do the walk of stars and try to locate the spot where Trump's star was vandalized. And, of course, at the Roosevelt you have the Chinese Theatre right across the street - worth a visit to the lobby after you've done the footprints. |

I went on my Prague and Copenhagen trip this past week and had a great time. I had 4 nights in Prague and 3 in Copenhagen. I loved Prague and felt that my time there was too short so will definitely be going back. The Astronomical Clock was not finished yet. I have no luck with clocks this year. 😂 Going up to the castle is worth it just for the views alone, amazing! I enjoyed exploring the town during the day and went out at night. I stayed at a hotel between the Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square and it was a great location as I could walk to all the sights. Prague is a beautiful, fun place and not expensive so a winner in my book. 👍
Then I had 3 full days in Copenhagen, which was enough time and I also visited Malmo for an afternoon. In that time I saw everything I wanted to see, all the main sights including Tivoli. A tip, if you don't have enough time or don't want to pay to enter Tivoli you can go to the food court instead and still see it from there. You enter the food court from the Central Station side and can go to the terrace for nice views of Tivoli. I did pay to enter but took no rides and ended up on that terrace anyway. Nyhavn is so pretty, I walked there through the main shopping street Stroget which passes beautiful squares. I think Copenhagen is a good layover destination as it was very easy to get to town from the airport with the train in about 15 minutes and it costs less than $6. I think the public transport was the only cheap thing I found there. 😆
The people in both countries were very friendly and everybody spoke English. The Danes are more outgoing than the Czechs. It was good to discover some new places and now my next trip will be London again, yay! I have booked the week before Christmas and this time I'm doing it right, staying from a Monday to Sunday so I can see lots of shows. So far I have already booked 5 shows: A Christmas Carol, Jamie, Bat out of Hell, Hadestown and Company. Can't wait!

Don’t know if I’d come to Hollywood again but I’ve enjoyed my time here so far (I fly back tomorrow night) - the place certainly is in a bit of a state once you go to past Musso & Frank, and there seem to be a hell of a lot of people wandering round that are either homeless, hustling or just mentally lacking. The heat has taken some getting used to, and thank God for Uber or I wouldn’t have gone too far from my hotel during my stay - but I got to see Cate Blanchett when I went for dinner at Musso & Frank last night: the sort of thing that doesn’t happen too often in the circles I move in 😝 |

booked West Side Story to see in Malmö, and still thinking about seeing the Phantom in Copenhagen or not

in Sweden i was able to pay most of my things cashless, how does it work in Copenhagen?

Well, there goes my grand plan to see Takarazuka in Tokyo. Tickets went on sale at 10am Japanese time today, so I thought, hell, I'm not getting up in the middle of the European night, I'll book when it's morning here and afternoon there. By the time I was up and ready to book, the entire run of Elisabeth was sold out. Who would have thought that an overwrought melodramatic Eurotrash musical is THAT popular over there...

For Copenhagen I did get DKK but it seemed that you can pay almost everywhere with a card. The only time when I could only pay with cash was on the bus. You need to pay with small change on the bus for a ticket, which costs DKK 24 for trips in town. However if you buy bus tickets in advance you can do that with a card. Since I was only spending an afternoon there walking around Malmo I didn't bother exchanging money and it was fine. I could pay for everything with a card, even very small amounts. So apparently Ryanair staff are planning further strike action till the end of December. I'm getting worried, I don't want my theatre trip later this month to get ruined. Seriously considering booking a flight with another company just in case!
I understand what they are demanding and it's only fair they get it, but after working hard during the year, getting my holidays ruined because of a strike would suck, especially when I've already spent money on theatre tickets.

I did a brilliant bike tour of Sydney - took me all over the city. Electric-assisted bikes so you don’t have to struggle on the hills. Highly recommend it.

I was in Melbourne for about a week last year (saw Book of Mormon and Born Yesterday) — I LOVE Melbourne. Spend at least half a day walking around Melbourne's laneways. The art is incredible! And if you like coffee, drink as much as you can there. Just over a week until my Australia adventure - eekk!! Any "must do's" for Perth, Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane - we do 3 days in each city, flying between them! Have got a wine tasting trip and Blue Mountains pre-booked but want to be fairly flexible otherwise. Sydney Harbour Bridge climb at sunset - worth the ridiculous price! And a concert in the Opera House as well - don't bother with the behind the scenes tour though, it's rubbish. Pancakes on the rocks for brunch, coastal walk from Bondi Beach and the ferry over to Manly are also good options. In Melbourne do the night market, one of the museum lates if they're on, and spend a day wandering around St Kilda, chilling on the beach and looking for penguins. Also hunt for the graffiti art and AC/DC street. The botanic garden is also lovely, and it's definitely worth doing a day trip out to the Great Ocean Road and the 12 Apostles. There isn't an awful lot in Adelaide itself, but definitely worth spending a day or two in the beautiful Barossa Valley or the Clare Valley (personally I prefer the Barossa wineries). |

I find Easyjet all right, not terrible but not my favorite choice of airline either. Ryanair seems to have very negative reviews. Is it really that bad? |

I've booked 42nd Street, Company, Heathers and The Inheritance (both parts).
I prefer Easyjet to Ryanair actually, but I'll just go with the cheapest, haha. Ryanair is bad but not horrible in my opinion.

It's not as strenuous or scary as people think ( The hardest part it a short flight of steel stairs to get to the arch - the arch itself is a very gentle incline) But you do need to book ahead and allow plenty of time. Week day prices are slightly cheaper than week ends too. www.bridgeclimb.com/The Blue Mountains is an amazing place and I love going hiking there. You will probably be taken to Leura, make sure you visit Josephans Chocolate shop if you do for some beautiful chocolates. Try and get out on the harbour on a ferry too. Manly is the most popular destination ( and the biggest ferry), and you'll get good views of the Opera House, Harbour Bridge and the heads. Once at Manly there's plenty of eating places and beaches, and paved promenades along both ocean & harbour beaches with great views. Hopefully this wet weather we are currently swimming through will have cleared for you, although the forecast shows rain for another week! So I recommend bringing some wet weather gear. |

An opera house sunrise/sunset is a must! When I go to Sydney we stay about a 10 minute walk from the opera house and can usually get there just in time for the sunrise on landing morning if we rush straight out.
Equally, there’s no nicer place to sit on a pleasant evening with a nice glass (bottle) of bubbles than the opera house bar.

2 weeks from today and I start my second London adventure. 23 nights. I'll arrive Saturday morning and then it's off and running. I won't have the knee pain I had on my visit last year because I have NEW knees! And I plan on getting my moneys worth out of them.
