I was at the show tonight, and wow, what a show. It was my first time seeing Mis, and there was such a positive energy coming from the cast. Dean was a highlight. His voice really is something else. Understudy on for Marius (Ben Tyler) who was good.
Despite my love for the show, the Queen’s theatre is awful and in dire need of an upgrade. My dad had to leave at the interval because of how uncomfortable he was. He is quite a large man, and the sides of the seat were digging into him. Not only that, the heat made him very ill.
We put a complaint in to the box office, and they said they were looking into getting theatre-wide air conditioning once the theatre is renovated in summer.

That sucks. It really is an uncomfortable theatre imo. Never had a problem with the temperature though, not even during the summer.
I'm glad they're refurbishing it.

Several other people were actually complaining about it too. It’s a shame he physically couldn’t continue, as he was really enjoying it so far, which is not typical of him for musicals.

Surely a refurb isn't going to make the seats more spacious though, because that would mean less of them, and therefore less revenue. Especially given they miraculously need to find some space from somewhere already to add in more toilets!

They go on about the Victoria Palace refurb but it certainly hasn't made it more comfortable. Assume as most seats are 100 quid plus, this is all to do with money.

They definitely need those extra toilets imo. The gents queue was always horrific - in the foyer bar there were only 3 cubicles, no urinals and only one sink. Similar situation in the stalls. Hopefully they move away from using paper towels, as there was a mess on the floor from overflowing bins.

Was at Les Mis tonight to see it one last time before the big change and something happened that i’ve Never experienced in all my years of theatregoing - a show stop! The stage right barricade got stuck halfway on stage during Dog Eat Dog... must have taken them about two minutes to fix. It was quite exciting! Also the teen next to me started crying during the Runaway Cart, which was also a new experience!

Valjean's muscles could definitely rouse a tear or two.

Valjean's muscles could definitely rouse a tear or two. They certainly could! But I'm not sure if that's why they were crying. They didn't return after the interval though....

Actually, one of Cameron's refurbed theatres (can't remember which one) had some wider seats added for audience members who request them, so maybe the Queens will also get these. I think they are on the ends of alternate rows in the stalls. Worth asking when you book, if you need them.

Also the teen next to me started crying during the Runaway Cart, which was also a new experience! I had one where Adam as JVJ went down the trap door with the Marius and the door got stuck and a good minute or so of the one of the crew trying to fix it. The they came on to "wake up" all the dead on barricade and then the safty curtian came down for about 4 or so minutes of them fixing it before it started again. I also had a Eponine switch I think it was around this time last year. Everyone was getting ill. Just after On My Own where they all come out for the barricade. Something wasn't right because Oli and Sarah was talking to each other it look like someone was at the back telling them to stop. Then it did the curtian came down and no one knew what was happening. My first thought was David was ill as Javert because there was no 1st cover as he was off and the 2nd cover was on sick leave. Because it was JUST before Javert enters. But it wasn't the announcement came that Karis has been taken ill and Lauren Soley was on as Eponine. So they had to pull her off and get ready for coming on to die. Which apparently either everyone who sat there just didn't listen to the abnouncement considering all the chatter as Lauren entered for the scene. It was entertaining though.

I think especially the left wing race focused color counters see a black Cosette. I see a Cosette. Look at the black girl playing Glinda on Broadway or the black guy playing Evan Hansen and the reactions on that. Every thread is only about their color. "Black power", "Black victory", "Black Glinda", History, etc. As long as that is the focus of those threads and not the person, the voice, the talent, there will never be equality. I notice this race focus coming from the left takes on extreme forms. Heaven forbid we celebrate diversity when it has been so sorely lacking in, oh, the majority of professions and positions for decades.

I already floored that argument in my later post.

Hi all, I was thinking about trying to get last minute seats for this Saturday matinee (or one in the next few weeks), do they do fairly priced/well located day tickets? I live in London so can get there whenever and I only need a single ticket

Hi all, I was thinking about trying to get last minute seats for this Saturday matinee (or one in the next few weeks), do they do fairly priced/well located day tickets? I live in London so can get there whenever and I only need a single ticket I'm fairly sure they don't do day seats. They still sell out most shows, so you'll have much less choice if you chance it on the day. See www.theatremonkey.com/dayseatfinder.htmTrying for standing tickets might be an option if they have them available.

Dave is coming from a white perspective because as a caucasian, we don't know what it is like to be maginalized in society. I am a gay white man, and yes I've been marginalized for being gay as we probably all have, but we don't know personally the struggles those of other races have been through. While I agree that we should celebrate talent, it is also important to celebrate steps forward in inclusion,

Not convinced on Carrie as Fantine at all, and I wasn't a fan of Matt Lucas as Thenardier either, so I think I'll be giving this a miss!
