Yes, I must be clear - I think Ian McIntosh is a fantastic actor and singer. My disappointment was a result of spending quite a lot of loot to at least catch him a couple of times in JCS and I always seemed to miss him. However, his alternate/covers were excellent. I'm almost as excited to see Matt Bateman as Valjean at some point as I think he is also superb. I vaguely recall seeing a lockdown vid he did as Valjean. Vocally, he smashes it out of the park. Did you ever see his Judas? Shem was off at my last show in Glasgow and I was gutted that Luke was also out (he was sensational in both roles). But Matt absolutely knocked Judas out of the park with the most insane vocals. Was stunning! I didn't - I wish I had though as he has an incredible voice and totally inhabits his characters.

Ian’s schedule and holiday dates posted on his Insta for those interested. His final scheduled show is suspicious, it would line up with a Phantom cast change... Probably reading too much into it, just thought I'd point that out. Especially since this means we're getting someone new for a 40th anniversary JV

You'd think tenors were an endangered species in England with how many times they've brought him back!

Ben Culleton just announced that he's going to be doing 8 of the 16 shows that Djavan won't be there for the next 2 weeks. I assume Jonathan Stevens is going to be doing the rest? Good for him if he does, the 2nd u/s doesn't usually have scheduled shows, but maybe they're preparing him, seeing as he's taking over as 1st in October.

It seems like the new cast has only signed a 9-month contract. Ian first posted his holiday dates and said his final show is in July. He then reposted the same thing just without the final show. And now Matt Bateman just posted about spending the next NINE months on the barricade. So I guess we're getting a NEW 40th anniversary cast

More my wishful thinking than likely reality, but could Ramin Karimloo do a stint in London for the 40th? I know he's been there done it but I think hes only played JV on Broadway?

I have a question: I'm on the Les Mis website trying to book tickets and specifically for the 24th of October, the evening show, there's a star next to the time label. Does anyone know what that means?

Katie Hall to leave the Sondheim Production and join the arena tour for 6 venues. Lucie Jones to reprise Fantine in Katie's place at the Sondheim from December to February. http://instagram.com/p/DBwkFhxo82F

Lucie... well, I just think that there are other roles she is more suited to. I would have preferred it if Anouk and Georgia had been tasked with holding down the fort, though I can see from a production point of view why that wouldn't work for almost two months.

By the way, does anyone know if Katie is coming back after the World Tour?

Few thoughts... It must have been about ten years since I last saw Les Mis, so my first time without the revolve and I didn't really miss it. However, I had forgotten how slow the first act is. I genuinely think you could loose almost all of the first hour.
They have just had a cast change, the cast looked very large on a very small stage, they must have trouble not walking into each other. I wasn't keen on either of the male leads, neither seemed to have the vocal power needed and were much too young. I wish they would cast older actors in this.
Having said all that, the house was almost full and a near complete standing ovation at the end.

Really not keen on this new production. Thought it was terrible last time I saw it a couple of years ago. As much as I love the music, don't think I will revisit anytime soon.

I don't mind a good-looking Val Jean so long as he can sing! 😂 Excited to see Lucie Jones returning as Fantine.

Does anyone know if Chris Jacobsen is alright? He hasn't performed once with the new cast, certainly not as Valjean and I believe he hasn't been on as his usual Combeferre track either.

I don't understand why they keep bringing in temporary covers for short stints. I get it if it's going to be over a month, but Amena is out for 15 shows and they're bringing in a replacement, just like last year with Stewart and Bradley. That's what they have understudies for!

I believe that it's so Aviva Tulley who is going out with the Arena Tour and has not played it before, experience ready for the tour. Like how Jac Yarrow and Bonnie also joined for a few weeks before touring.

I suppose my issue is that it feels like they're treating the West End production like it's less important than the World Tour, when any way you cut it, any fully staged production SHOULD have the upper hand.
