Would they not announced him though? The instagram was from the concert for Royal Academy of Music the other week I think the tag was just the guy who was Enjolras was in the outfit. I found him on twitter and his spotlight page eventually. It says he is a bass baritone he might be Bishop. I think they are swapping some tracks around. Also found out Ciaran Bowling is going to be 1st cover Bamatabois I am flaming ecstatic about that. So glad he is staying. The fact he used the hashtag Enjolras on this post was what made me think it could be him. Guess we will find out soon if rehearsals start on Monday. Andrew is going to be Lesgles and 1st cover Bishop

Andrew is going to be Lesgles and 1st cover Bishop Now I'm worried about stunt casting! They best not ruin my favourite character...... Tell me about it 😣 I wonder, I know they announced a new Fiyero in Wicked but maybe just maybe the new Enj is in a cast that is half way through a cast year.... like from Hamilton, BoM or SoR? Oh please god don't be a stunt casting. We most likely will know tomorrow... maybe...

If you're going to stunt-cast anyone, why Enjolras? I did hear a semi-credible rumor that Aaron Tveit and Eddie Redmayne would BOTH join the West End cast in 2013, but obviously that never happened. That'd be how you'd stunt-cast Enjolras — paired-up.

I'm so pleased they've finally cast a black girl as Cosette, only took them 33 years! Cosette has to be "fairy tale pretty" and also have an amazing voice and be able to make a rather small role stand out. From what I've seen, Ms Okereke ticks all those boxes. A case of "best person got the job" and no more, which is as it should be. I can't seem to find any videos of her singing, could you guide me somewhere?

They often give the role of Cosette to someone fresh out of training with no professional experience. Given that it's a principal role in the biggest show on the West End, why do you think that is?

No recordings either of her opposite number Marius, also a graduate straight out of the same drama school.

Daisy, I get your point, but to be honest, if I had been offered a role in this musical straight out of training, I suspect I would have done it for nothing!😀

Cosette? Marius too, and Enjolras... loads of them. 10 years ago, you’d go and see Les Mis and you’d have properly mature voices singing the leads. Marius and Enjolras played by 25-30 year olds with many credits, 40-50 year olds playing Valjean and Javert. It sounded heavenly. I appreciate that to those who have never seen that age of cast won’t know the difference, but hand on heart it was just glorious. Now they’re casting the likes of Killian and Bradley as the main two and they could still be playing students. Supremely talented, yes, and deservedly leading men, but 10 years too young for THESE roles. Hence Jeremy Secomb was such a welcome Javert. A touch of the Quast and old school. Hopefully Dean Chisnall will bring a bit of that back to Valjean.

Yes I agree. Would you say that the same applies to the female leads?

One of the girls posted an instastory of the whole cast pictures and parts and it says Enjolras tbc. Odd to start rehearsals without one......

Maybe he's currently in a contract he can't get out of to start with everyone else? And/or he's overseas?

The likes of Philip Quast, Jeremy Sedomb, Norm Lewis have a gravitas that the younger actors don't, through no fault of their own. I think Killian pulls it off (I may be biased 😅) but I'd like to see Valjean played by older actors too.

When I saw the show around this time last year I felt it was very "drama school", save the Thenardiers, Valjean and Javert I might have been watching a NYMT production. A former cast member said in one of Zoe Doano's vlogs that they hold auditions at some of the top drama schools, which explains all the new graduates. I suppose it gives some actors a much-needed headstart in the industry.

NYMT seems to be the go to place to find the next generation of stars. The new Cosette played Maria in WS Story five years ago. Those cast straight-out of Drama school have often played lead roles in the 3rd year productions too, Also Cosette and her understudy are signed with the same agent.

Hopefully Dean Chisnall will bring a bit of that back to Valjean. I have often thought this, that the Les Mis casts are getting younger and younger. Then I've wondered if it's just that I am getting older. I do agree that the show does sound richer when you have more mature voices, but I think casting young has always happened with this show: John Owen Jones was the youngest actor to ever play Valjean at 26, when he started playing the role in London in 1998. Philip Quast was 30 when he started as Javert in Australia; and Michael McCarthy was 27. However, while they were originally cast young, I guess they did play these roles for many years, and I personally preferred JOJ's performance in 2016 to 1999. Looking back at the early Eponines, Linzi Hateley was only 18 when she started in London, and Meredith Bruan 17.

I've heard this has booked a month in Glasgow at some point in 2020 so it's definitely getting an extension

I wonder if they haven't found one yet at all or the actor they had pulled out. It's really interesting. They should just get Danny Whitehead as Enjolras.
