Myself and my husband were there last night. Thought it was one of the best cards we have seen. The Thenardier’s were cracking! Had an amazing time, and it was hubby’s first last night (after opening night at Joseph on Thursday (he insists he was “papped” on the red carpet - I didn’t have the heart to tell him Gary Wilmot was behind him). Back to Les Mis. A brilliant show ruined in part by the camera crew we were sat next to in the front row of the Dress Circle, in particular the lady sat next to me. Constantly checking her phone and texting - I assumed she was in contact with colleagues elsewhere in the building...until I snuck a look and she was just texting a friend! Then, just before curtain up on Act 2 she clambers over the back of the seat and out of auditorium along row B. She then decided to return just as the barricade is forming on stage, thus ruining the final ever time this will happen for half of row and and rows behind us! Totally unprofessional, and if the camera was picking up sound, a few expletives from my direction may have been picked up! Sorry to read about such a terrible experience. That is really unprofessional behaviour. If I were you I'd be getting in contact with DMT, the team at Cam Mac ( www.cameronmackintosh.com/contact) to express you disappointment in your experience and the unacceptable, inconsiderate behaviour of the service providers.

I’ve said my peace about loosing the original and the long running title. Just PLEASE Cameron, for the love of all that’s good in this world, put in the bloody locations and dates into those sodding projections. Just for the benefit of those tourists you want to make money off. Don’t expect them to keep looking at the programmes they buy to make out what’s going on Rant over. I’ll post my thoughts on yesterday evening later Definitely. I can't understand why the dates aren't there, Valjean's hair isn't enough. On another note, I love the new EPK, although a bizarre lack of Javert.

I was responding to Dave’s “cheap revival set” comment. I totally get how the new version releases CM from paying royalties to the original creatives. He’s a businessman and without him the show wouldn’t have happened in the first place. Everyone involved in the original has made a very fine living off it for over 30 years. I should have said "cheaper production". It goes indeed further than just the set. Cheaper orchestrations, royalties, etc. Could it also be that the dates in the projections are part of the copyrighted set too?

We were there on Saturday as well and very glad that we were able to go. We had a great night, I don't think it's the strongest cast I've ever seen but they were all really going for it which made up for anything lacking I thought. I do think Bradley Jaden is a bit young for Javert, but love his voice and 'Stars' was fantastic.
We were in the upper circle and as previously mentioned there was a lot of crying going on! I saw one young man in tears at the interval and then two ladies crying in the queue for the toilets as well as the continuing sniffing from 'Empty Chairs' onward.
The lady sitting behind us was incredibly enthusiastic and kept starting to clap even at times when the rest of the audience was letting the show move on. There was lots of applause in parts that don't usually get it, but she was just being over the top. Maybe I'm just being grumpy but it was unwarranted at times!
All in all it was a wonderful night. I liked the touch of giving everyone a glass of fizz ( I noticed the backstage team were also crying when they handed them out to the cast onstage which was sweet) and thought Dean Chisnall's speech was perfect. I was surprised that CM wasn't there to say anything, but after thinking about it I'm glad that he wasn't.

I get the feeling Cameron doesn’t think the show is closing, only going on a hiatus which is why he didn’t go to the last night of the original production. I suspect he’ll appear for the All Star Concert and the first night of the new production.

Did every patron get the glass of fizz? How did they actually do that?

Did every patron get the glass of fizz? How did they actually do that? They had bags full of plastic champagne flutes that they passed along the rows, and then they passed a couple of bottles down each row too. They did it from each end in the Upper Circle, I assume the same in the lower tiers too. Dean Chisnall then waited until everyone had a glassful before he started the speech which was nice.

How long did it take to get everybody served?
And what happened if someone asked for a non alcoholic alternative Cos you can bet your life there would be someone in there who did.

That's how they did the drinks at Phantom's 30th too.

it really didn't take long. A couple of minutes at most. In the stalls there was an usher at each ends of the row, passed along the glasses, then came a few bottles along the row. I was fortunate to get stuck with a very full bottle in the middle of the row

Could it also be that the dates in the projections are part of the copyrighted set too? If that is the case then it shows how incredibly short sighted this whole venture is and may affect how long the replacement will last How is it going to convert new fans if newcomers and tourists are going to be confused by what’s going on. And I’m not trying to be hyperbolic here. We took my grandma to the last tour and she was completely lost Couldn’t they just use a different font. Maybe find the locations in victor hugos writing and project them like they do for the title (at least I know they used it on the curtain for the broadway production)

Back in the day I used to buy everyone in my team a Cadbury’s Creme Egg at Easter. So I’m walking round giving everyone their egg and this one woman says “oh, I can’t accept that. I’ve gone a bit religious” (she’d become a Jehova’s Witness). So I said “oh, no problem I’ll have yours” and carried on to the next person.
Then about 10 minutes later she marched up to my desk and said “it’s only eggs that are a problem, can I have something else?” And like the absolute fool I am I went to the vending machine and got her a Mars Bar!

I'm more curious how they made sure no under 18's had any! That would be the responsibility of the adult the minor is attending with. Also, technically, it's not illegal as there is no transaction.

So those in audience who didn’t / couldn’t drink just missed out ? You aren't going to please everyone all of the time. It was a lovely gesture and was very appreciated.

So those in audience who didn’t / couldn’t drink just missed out ? Well, yes - everyone did need to get home at some point so they couldn't exactly take drink orders...! I think the kids onstage just did without as well. It was a really lovely gesture and anyone who didn't want to drink just let the bottle go past them without any fuss.

Myself included - I don't drink alcohol - just passed the bottle to the next person. Agree was a great gesture and agree, they could hardly have taken orders lol. (I swigged from the 500ml diet coke bottle I'd bought in the interval!)

Will be interested to see if any photos of the set being dismantled/loaded out make it to Twitter.
