Tonight was not only Luke Bayer's penultimate show as Jamie, but also was the 500th show of Jamie in London! Wow, congrats to all!

I think the poster is just fine. It's a bit too airbrushed, but it's practically the same as the original but with a different man. Really looking forward to seeing the new cast.

Layton is good looking, definitely. I think it's the eye makeup with the lashes, it doesn't look right on him.

Anyone know if John McCrea has anything else lined up for when he finishes on the 26th?

Anyone know if John McCrea has anything else lined up for when he finishes on the 26th? He was live on instragrsm about an hour ago and several people asked the same question. He made no comment at all.

Caught this again last night, wish I’d booked for Saturday instead but it was still a great atmosphere and it’s always great to see a full house. Went to see John one final, I only wish I’d seen him in the role more, he was brilliant. First time seeing Michelle she just didn’t click for me, wasn’t that she was bad just lacking something, I don’t think it helped that her accent kept changing with every line she spoke. Show’s in good shape though, hope it continues with the new cast

Surprised Jordan Cunningham is also leaving. He was recently rehearsed to play Jamie (and got some media exposure out of it) but never got to go on as far as I know. I would have thought that he would have stayed to be Layton's alternate if they were going with a bi-racial Jamie.

I don't think that Layton is going to have an alternate - he's planning to do eight performances a week - at least initially. I believe that his understudy is going to be Luke Latchman - (playing Sayid) who was recently in Dick Whittington at the Lyric Hammersmith and before that in Spring Awakening in Manchester. Jordan is going to be in West Side Story at Manchester Royal Exchange.

Saw the curtian call video from cast change tonight, very emotional. Speeches thanking everyone individually with flowers, lots of tears. Luke joined the cast also for the speeches. But the most emotional part, after the curtian call when Jamie stands in the doorway, John took the red heels off onstage and left them in the doorway. Symbolic and made me a bit tearful. Bravo all on an amazing run.

Lyn Paul did that at her last performance as Mrs Johnstone in Blood Brothers with her pinny - she took in the applause, took it off, left it on the stage and walked away. I was a total sniffling wreck.

Visited last night to see Luke Bayer as Jamie for the last time before cast change. Good second chance ticket from TodayTix in the Stalls. The House Full signs were up outside. It was a loud audience, with laughs/applause in unusual places, but generally well behaved (apart from one guy in premium Stalls who fairly obviously didn't want to be there). Luke is still by far the better Jamie for me (John comes across as rather too masculine in comparison and I've really been sensing he's a bit bored with playing the role). The full cast were on for the first half, with no swings. For some reason, Ryan Hughes didn't return after the interval and Marvyn Charles did the rest of the show, although it wasn't announced. My first time seeing Michelle Visage. I know people like her, but her acting and singing ability is 50 times worse than Lulu. But she's not on stage for long. It will be a shame to say goodbye to Luke and also Lucie Shorthouse, who always nails her performance as Pritti. I'll be interested to see which of the guys ends up as cover Jamie. Possibly Jordan Laviniere who I saw on stage for the first time since he's joined. If I remember, he was understudy Angel with Layton on the Rent tour and comes across as suitably camp. Did you really say John is too masculine in the role? I think John is Jamie where Luke "plays" Jamie. They both play the role differently, but vocally, John I think wins out. And John's comedic timing and overall presence wins me over everytime I agree, especially in the first scene with Pretti. Your head’s the wrong shape for school. I like that/High achiever, high heels. John had impeccable comedic timings. Also, I personally find that the walking cover for Magaret, Melissa, have a much better voice. Michelle Visage went off-script and said “Shantay you stay” last night and the audience went crazy. Can’t wait to see Layton on Tuesday, where I would be seeing 3 actors play Jamie in a week yay.

Saw Melissa as Margaret and she gave a fantastic vocal and performance. Hope she can take the role full time in the future.

Saw Melissa as Margaret and she gave a fantastic vocal and performance. Hope she can take the role full time in the future. Her voice has a much warmer and richer tone. Rebecca’s can be a bit piercing at high notes, which is really noticeable when she sings the word “break”.

I saw Melissa and I thought she was absolutely amazing, dare I say a revelation. I would rate her higher than Rebecca and (controversial, I know) Josie, I thought she was amazing.
