Will have to keep an eye on this. Given that there is no other unreleased recording out there now, I suspect this is probably going to be the cast recording

I saw this the other day through the lottery. Stage was quite high, don't know why I didn't look that up beforehand, I've definitely sat in that front row before for other stuff and didn't notice it as badly. I thought the whole thing was quite fun, but far from perfect.
I felt the score had a bit of a "my first musical" vibe at times, and I wish whoever orchestrated this just laid off the percussion sometimes, it's nice to have variety in a musical, not every song has to have a hard beat behind it. I pulled some faces at basically all of Jamie's dads appearances, just completely pantomime and over the top. If you want the Dad to reject Jamie that strongly and have it be believable, it would almost have been better for the Dad to have never appeared. There's no way to convey those sorts of lines in a realistic way, I don't think it was the actor.
Not a bad show though.

Unfortunately some people have been on the receiving end of comments just like this (and far worse) from their dads... (Not me, I hasten to add, but I know people who have been so, for me, it was completely believable.)

The scene with Jamie's mum and his Dad having a conversation over a cigarette particularly was just cringy. Maybe a bad combination of script, direction and actor.

I found the dad's relationship with Jamie VERY believable. Being gay isn't accepted by some and i felt that Jamie and the dad's scene was heartbreaking and I loved it. I'm sorry that you didn't get it...and it didn't work for you, but I was in tears. Good theatre elicits a response and I'm sorry yours was negative.

I saw this for the second time yesterday, also from the TodayTix front row seats. The view there is acceptable if you've seen the show before and you want to be up close, but it is a very high stage.
Otherwise, if you want cheap tickets, you might want to enter the Lottery, hope to lose and be offered Second Chance tickets with a better view a few rows back.
Lots of covers on, but I missed the cast board and can't find anything online. The one I'm sure about is Kirstie Skivington on as Miss Hedge, who played the role slightly softer than the main actor and which I preferred.
I think Spencer Stafford was also on in the dual role of Jamie's dad and one of the drag queens. Several of the school pupils were covers too (or at least looked very different to the people on last time).
My first time seeing John McCrea too, who was excellent. The sound from the front row was really good too and the people sat around me were really into the show (including two girls who I suspect are regulars), which always helps with the atmosphere.

Listening to Andrew Lloyd Webber being interviewed by Jonathan Ross on Radio 2, replacement for Elaine Paige, btw Jonathan was totally out of his depth, a lot better interviewers out there, anyway I was surprised to hear Andrew and given how much he has gushed about Hamilton in the past, also say that Jamie is the best British musical he has heard for a long time, surprised to hear Andrew say this, didn’t think he would go for this - but high praise indeed.
Jamie is up against Hamilton for the Oliviers this weekend.

Andrew...say that Jamie is the best British musical he has heard for a long time You know how, when you go to a London theatre, they normally only have flyers for other theatres in the same chain. Well I noticed that ALW has flyers for Jamie in the foyer of Her Majesty's, proving just how much of a fan he really is.

Just announced on Facebook - Cast recording available to purchase from the theatre and online from this evening! The link to order online is bit.ly/2Jm2mVLWill be available digitally at the end of April (which is good news - at least they are releasing it digitally unlike Bat out of Hell. I don’t even own anything that plays CDs anymore)

So unusual that it's released digitally later - especially of a show that is predominantly acted by a bunch of teens and whose fan following has a good number of young people. I guess I'll wait until end of April! I also don't have the equipment to play a CD anymore.

They know that there will be a lot of people out there who would have just streamed it for which the payout is far less (something like £0.01 per stream if I remember correctly). If they can get them to buy a physical copy first then you cash in on both. I know I wouldn’t have bought a physical copy had it been released on Spotify or Apple Music today

Me revoilà! I saw it tonight for my Birthday. Very good; a couple of things I’d change. Anyway, I bought both CDs and will let you know thoughts soon.

Though the show didn’t win an Larry’s...hopefully it’s created more excitement for this stunning show and John McCrea and Josie.
Do we think it will extend through Christmas? I need to see it again and won’t be to London until the festive season!
This is a show that changes lives and changes minds and one that i truly LOVE

I'm keeping my fingers crossed I can get a reduced price ticket next Friday when we're in London but here aren't many of the cheaper tickets left really. I may have to break the habit of a lifetime and pay £65 a ticket if not.

If you go in and ask for a ticket, they'll give you the the best available seat they have for £25 (They were still doing this last month when I went). Todaytix is also another option for last minute seat discounts

It's so lame that the show was nominated for several awards but won..none? And how predictable was it for Hamilton to sweep? Boooring....
I love Hamilton but this beautiful little show deserved a shot.
